I went to an awards banquet yesterday for accounting and information systems major (I'm the latter)... or should I say accounting majors.

See this isn't just for the awards. Most people there won't get anything. Realistically I knew I wasn't getting anything either. It's for networking with the firms that come out. You know how many firms came out for my major?

I got sat with an accounting firm that doesn't even do IT advisory. Blew 35 bucks and 3 hours to watch a circlejerk and have a meal that coincidentally a similar version of what my mother was cooking at home. Judging by the leftovers her pot-roast was better. I couldn't hang out with people from major because only about dozen of us were there out of a couple hundred. I had a mind to start picking up chicks since most of the girls there were fit but I'm certain that every girl in there without exception was taken. I talked to my IS professor and the department chair but I can see them any old time at school.

I feel like I've been lied to. I wanted to start a fist fight in there just to liven things. Sure, all the recruiters there would see me and... oh wait, they weren't there.

At least I got barrel down the highway at night blasting Neutral Milk Hotel. Getting an award in my major looks like it's much easier than accounting since not many of them bother with this kind of thing. I knew pretty much everyone who won something that was in the IS major because they are all officers in our club. If I get good grades and get a little bit involved getting 500, 750, 1000 bucks should be cake.
