RANDOM RANTS XXXI: I hate my job

There's nothing manly about consuming meat. The fact that ya'll believe that reflects how boyish you really are. A true man takes responsibility for his negative actions and tries to make sure that he limits them.

Men is for men. Vegetables are for those with .... cats.....:p

Uhm

Cow farts produce methane. Methane contributes to global warming. Killing cows for meat stops the methane from being generated. Thus, eating meat helps to prevent global warming!

They were genetically engineered into existence?

No, the reason why they exist in the first place is because there's a demand for meat. Maybe if people ate less meat overall, an omnivore diet would be sustainable.

For us to eat 'em, silly.

Is it impossible to co-exist with an animal without having to resort to creating an industry that is incredibly bad for the environment?

You seem to have missed my question. So Ill ask again:
Why are you vegetarian? Please tell me it's not for some stupid animal rights thing...

Moderator Action: Is there a reason you cannot ask your question in a move civil manner? Your dislike of "animal rights" is irrelevant to the question you want answered.

Well, to sum it up, the two biggest issues for me is the release of greenhouse gases: the animals themselves release methane, the transportation of the fodder and the meat itself requires gas; how terribly inefficient the whole beefing-up-the-animals process is: requires a LOOOT of water - (I've read estimates that 2500 gallons of water is required for one pound of meat) and fodder (16 pounds of soya is needed to produce 1 pound of meat) which in turn leads to more forest being cut down to accommodate for it, when we in fact could be more efficient and eat the, for example, soya ourselves.

I'm not feeling like typing up a big post (usually wont matter and it'll only derail this thread), so if you want more information then this site is good.

Planting soy beans also takes up a lot of space, needs transportation of itself, transportation of fertilizer, and requires a lot of water and heat to grow properly, and thus also causes deforestation.

Also, a lot more beef is locally produced than soya - For example, European countries generally get beef domestically, but have to import soya from Africa or Brazil.

Oh, right, I forgot soya is used for cow food (when I think soya, I generally think Chinese food)

My post applies for tropical plants in general anyway.

 u so cute :p And like I said, it's not like cows are efficient at turning that soya into cow-flesh.

Just ragequit a game of Civ4.

Playing as Willem of the Dutch, Epic/Monarch, on a Fractal. Had a lot of land to expand into because I was at the top of the continent's jungle belt, the only player in the situation, with my second city blocking off a peninsula with room for three cities. I popped Sailing from a hut, and the land around me was gorgeous - tons of food resources, hills for production, Iron, Copper, and Horses, and a lot of land in the jungle belt to expand into. Decided to set my second city to go after the Great Wall. Micromanaged it, timing forest chops and stuff to maximize production.

Last turn to build, with a TON of overflow because of a well-timed forest chop. Hit enter, and...

Hatshetsup has built the Great Wall!

<snip> YOU HATSHEPSUT! I WILL KILL YOU! Only not really, because I ragequit!

Rant: there's something wrong with my computer which makes me unable to play some games without it crashing after a while. I can't play CIV and I can't even play Windows' Chess! It's not even limited to games: I can't use google earth for extended times.

Rant 2: It's kinda annoying when people trick me into believing that I've been eating meat all along, when in fact it wasn't.

The main downside of vegetarianism is that you can't have any pudding

Nor a lot of candies. But <shrug> I <3 Cashew Nuts!

Yared, I had a similar problem. Thoroughly degunk the inside of your base unit, get off all the dust, tighten all your cables and so on. Your computer might just be struggling to breathe.
