Thursday-After a fairly easy day of teaching, my Girlfriend (who lives 1,000 miles away) flew in and surprised me at my school. She's been here all weekend.

There is a big snow storm going on. They are advising people to stay inside.

I hope the public transportation system fails so I'll have a good excuse not to be at school.

If the train is more than 20 min (they go at intervals of every 20 minute) late I get to order a cab and bill it on Stockholms Lokaltrafik AB Instead of going to school I'll have it drive me home.

BTW this isn't a rave per se. It's a pre-rave.

Rave: After having waited in the cold (-20 Celsius) from 820 to 9 I went home. The train system was in chaos, the buses that replaced it were over-filled and it was just generally bad. Eventually I had to send my teacher a text saying that I'm going to be working at home. SO NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

That's right people. In Sweden, we have no such things as "snow days". It's only when the infrastructure is made almost completely unable to function, when the public transportation system is in pandemonium that you are allowed to stay home

I went half way to school - 1,5 kilometer in bad clothing, it was -21 C took a bus(!) the rest of the way, went sick during school and had to go home again! (yes I'm sick now)

I got a scholarship. Only $500 a year, but given it's the only one I applied for, I can't complain.

Got a snazzy new black oven installed today, bought it on Saturday. Our crappy old range wasn't worth the price to repair. Although the new one is a standard 30" as opposed to the 36" model it replaced, so there's now a six inch gap between the edge of our built-in cabinets and the right side of the oven. Oh well; that extra six inches was only used to make room on the stovetop for a griddle we never used, and a filthy side storage slot we never used, because it was filthy and we didn't have anything to store in there anyways.

Rant: we couldn't afford a dual-fuel model. That would have been sweet.
