What's happened to Fox, they're daring criticise their former numero uno golden boy?
The news section is actually getting honest. :please: This does not extend to Hannity, Watters, and the other reptiles they have over there. Trump is now tweeting that Fox News is no longer his station and he's thinking about starting his own station. :hammer:

It's Official. Fox News is now a Liebral cesspool of the MSM deep state!

Good luck with that. It'll probably be just as successful as his other ventures.

Rave: After a near half-hour of fighting with them, I got my new headphone pads on!

I was stuck on a crappy spare set of headphones for the last month, and now everything sounds almost too good.

For a moment there, I thought you said you'd been struck by lightning. Next time I should try reading just one line at a time.

That probably wouldn't be much of a rave.

Well, no, but your chills would be multiplying.

One of the big things I'm glad about is that my spare headphones were tight and pressed down on my glasses arms, and that got painful after a while. That and the crappy sound.

It's almost like when my ears got clogged with wax and the doctor removed it. Everything was so clear afterwards that it was almost painful.

Given that he managed to lose money whilst running a casino, I would say that is definitely not an accurate reading of affairs.

Well, you are quite wrong. The purpose of those ventures was to enrich Trump by exploiting bankruptcy law, and by that measure they were successful.

Wait, you can get rich by going bankrupt?

Wait, you can get rich by going bankrupt?

It's hard to get rich using bankruptcy law but if you are already rich (say, because of a small loan of $1M from your father or something like that) it's pretty easy to exploit bankruptcy law to make yourself more money.

I mean, quite literally Trump declared bankruptcy using accounting artifice and then just didn't pay a bunch of people (including workers, contractors, and the like) money he owed them. He was then able to bog down most of the subsequent litigation.

The depth to which the US legal system is a tool for the rich to sic the state on their victims (or, alternatively, escape justice by miring their victims in procedural nonsense) may be hard for foreigners to grasp.

that don't make no sense

So you don't have far to move, and you get to keep the dog?

That said, it's bizarre that dogs wouldn't be allowed on certain floors. If the company that owns the building I live in suddenly decided that cats are only allowed on certain floors, they would find themselves in court, unless the tenants who already owned cats were grandfathered and the policy would only apply to new tenants.

Grandfathering is a handy thing. It's why the rental company still pays for my internet and cable, and I get to decide who is allowed to use my parking space and have my extra key to the building, even though I don't have a vehicle.
It does not make any sense except that they figure this will make them more money somehow in the end. Despite everyone in the US saying renters in California have unlimited power, this isn't true. There's no agency we can turn to to fight this as the law allows landlords to not renew leases for whatever reason as long as they give 60 day notice. And the company made the decision to evict everyone with pets on these floors a year ago but has been waiting until each unit is 60 days out to notify them to prevent us from working together to stop it. I've been sounding the alarm with all the neighbors with pets I've come across to at least give them a longer heads-up.

There have been an increasing number of reports that the news staff is in conflict with the network heads over the last few months as Trump's corruption has gotten more naked and harder to hide.

They're only getting honest if your look past the lies by omission. While the may be running some truthful stories about the President, they pass on the overwhelming number of stories out there altogether and then only give the briefest of air time to negative stories. There's a reason most Fox News viewers have no idea that Mueller recommended impeachment or found obstruction of justice if not collusion.

I think you're giving him too much credit. Sure, he's exploited bankruptcy laws but I don't think he has started a ton of his failed ventures with that end-goal in mind as frankly that would take too much foresight and self-reflection.

I think you're underestimating him.

The hard news guys who are not part of the AM opinion and evening prime time opinion teams, are in conflict them.
There's only so much doublethink can do without electrodes.

As well as the plot spoiler about bankruptcy law being part of the profit scheme, I have to point out that shows in which he just talked and got paid for his persona (e.g. The Apprentice, POTUS, various guest star appearances as himself in the 1990s) have regularly been sucessful in the traditional sense.

Shep Smith announces he is leaving Fox News

New York (CNN Business)In a stunning announcement, Shepard Smith said on his Friday show that after more than two decades at Fox News, he was stepping down as chief news anchor, and leaving the network.

"This is my last newscast here," Smith said, adding that he was "eternally grateful" to Fox for the opportunities it has afforded him.
"Together with my colleagues, we have written a first draft of history," Smith said. "Endeavored to deliver it to you while speaking truth to power, without fear or favor, in context and with perspective."
Smith signed off his newscast saying, "Even in our current polarized nation, it is my hope that the facts will win the day, that the truth will always matter, that journalism and journalists will thrive."

It does not make any sense except that they figure this will make them more money somehow in the end.
The managers here used to frequently use the phrase to me "when you move out..." and I asked them, "Wouldn't it make more financial sense for the company (that owns this building) to keep a satisfied renter so they don't have to continually spend money on cleaning, renovations, advertising, and other administrative work connected with the suite?"

It was explained to me that rental companies just expect most people to only stay for a year or two, so they don't really care about retention. But in this building I'm one of the "veteran tenants" - I've been here over 6 years, and there are some people who have lived here for close to 20 years. There are some issues that have cropped up for the current manager and maintenance people - all of whom weren't here when I first arrived - and I've been able to explain that such-and-such happened before, and let them know what the former manager did about it and whether or not it worked.

Another thing: I don't care if it's annoying for any of the staff here if I point out a problem that would impact the seniors/disabled tenants here. There have been numerous safety issues over the years, and pointing out the tripping hazards and problems facing people who use wheelchairs or walkers has resulted in quicker action in getting some major things fixed around here and making it more accessible (unfortunately we're stuck with the too-steep ramp in the back of the building; I was literally stuck here for about 6 weeks last summer when that was the only usable entrance due to parking lot renovations).

Why have a long-term renter pay $1000 a month when you can AirBNB it for $1000 a night?

I've seen multiple rental units in my town get turned into AirBNBs. It's depressing.
