Can't decide if people making a big deal about tipping on tax means they're really cheap or bad at math (even 20% of 20% works out to 4 cents per dollar). Maybe it's both?

You can calculate the tip amount by either using the pre-tax total or the post-tax total. Tipping on tax uses the post-tax total which increases the tip amount ever so slightly.

No that's the post tax method. Why is that the most mathematically demanding way? Wouldn't having to figure out the pre tax amount before calculating a tip be the most inconvenient one?
