Random Thoughts XI: Listen to the Whispers

Ally Sheedy is awesome, amadeus.

I wasn’t throwing shade on Sheedy, as the young people say. I just couldn’t find a mid-sixties cartoon parallel.

Oh yeah, pennies. Are “my two cents” and “a penny for your thoughts” connected? If they were, I could get that; very seldom do I value someone else’s opinion as much as I do mine. The point, anyway, was that with inflation the value of my thoughts goes down every year.

Worse yet, if interest rates go up, there is less sale-able interest in them over time. Well, that didn’t go anywhere. Lunchtime!

In another generation, the expression "my two cents' worth" will be meaningless to the younger people in Canada. Pennies are no longer legal tender here, even though there are still $ millions of them out there, likely sitting in jars in people's homes or lost on the street or in the depths of various couches.

"Loonies" is the correct spelling of our $1 coins.

SPELLING ERROR CORRECTED

*gets serious*

"Loonies" is the correct spelling of our $1 coins.

"Looneys" is a derogatory word, which I ask that you do not use.
Just for the record, I thought that the shortened form of lunatic was ‘loony’.

Edit: Wiktionary says that they're both valid.

So since my GF and me are slowly phasing out our relationship (while we love each other, we'd drive each other nuts), I decided to go on Tinder.
Now I've been talking there for a few weeks with a woman (all sounds fine there), who just wants.... entertainment, you know.
She's now proposed to meet up on Sunday at her place (not elsewhere). I've only got the bus stop so far.
She doesn't even know how I look (I use Leonard from TBBT).
She hasn't asked for my blood type lol.
But am I now about to get.... mugged? Get my credit card data stolen (would leave it at home anyways)? Be forced at gun point to do... something? Will this be filmed and I'll be blackmailed (pointless, but anyways).

I've done some experimentation with.... things the other way around, there this worked exactly like that, but I was definitely less suspicious lol.
Thinking about cancelling this, it's very suspect right now.

No coffeeshop first meet? Any address ahead of time enough to go take a look the day before? I would be on the suspicious side too. Either she is avoiding you seeing her ahead of time or she has plans that might be spoiled by a first meet in a neutral place.

Is the bus stop on a busy street?
Could you easily walk away if she meets you there and you get nervous?
What time of day is the meet up?

The thing is: If she really only wants entertainment, then she probably wants to avoid being seen with me. So it does make some sense.

The bus stop is at a busy place, but I don't know if she'll pick me up there, or if she'll text me the address (via Tinder). And it's at 3 PM, so not dark n shady.
So... I don't know.

Ask her why she is being so secretive.

A first meet in private seems to be a red flag. Not how one builds any relationship. If she only wants "entertainment" that seems like a poor payoff for you.

She lives in that areas, and has frequent customer contact. Many people there should know here.
So it does make sense.
I might "demand" that she picks me up at the bus stop or so, and otherwise leave it .
What does that mean?

The most likely explanation is that she has SO. You're just side gig.

Probably the best thing you can do is to run everything you know about her-photo, address and so on-through Google. See what pops up.

I cannot answer as to Tinder culture because I don't go there, but

You don't need to have physical possession of someone's credit card to commit credit card fraud.

Not any more. A picture of the back and a billing zip code is usually sufficient: Number, name, exp date, billing zip and code will do it.

EDIT: Oops misread your post @Takhisis :(

She works in a pharmacy, so a lot of people know her.
But I see what you thought lol.

The address I don't know, photos I could.
All the stuff which she told in the recent weeks do make some sense (including the shown changes in distance on Tinder).
Not sue about the SO, since she wants to meet at her place. If she had, would she not want to meet at my place?
(also per se not a problem, since this is a one-time thing, maybe two times, so whatever, although I prefer not to have mad, jealous men at my door)

I don't remember my card number either, so that wouldn't work .
