Modern cruise ships are phenomonally ugly vessels, particularly when compared to classic liners. Sure the former can carry more people, but the latter did it in style.....
Much like with the Eiffel Tower (in a famous quote by De Maupassant), they are the best place to be, because they are the only place from where they can't be seen.

Do you ever get anxiety from being inside so much or with the idea that you need to leave at some point?

Actually staying inside felt safer, since the time when I stopped going a lot of places coincided at first when my mobility got worse to the point of needing a walker and realizing that oh, joy, there are NO SIDEWALKS that connect with the driveway into the parking lot of the building where I live! The only other option to get to a sidewalk would mean trying to get down a ramp that's too steep, and the sidewalk would take me to a crossing of two busy roads with no traffic light.

Honestly, trying to cross the street here as a pedestrian is dangerous enough for an able-bodied person on foot. For someone like me, it would be insane to even consider.

And then along came the pandemic, and we're told to stay home as much as possible and social distance. Some people took it to extremes, when one of my home care people seemed to glue herself to the door, trying not to get near me, and I told her that I hadn't been outside in months, I live alone, and never have company. I limited going around the building itself, and never directly touched anything that anyone else could touch like doorknobs, elevator buttons, or doorhandles. I didn't wear a mask in the building, but did wear gloves when I knew I'd have to touch something (including my own outside doorknob). It got to the point where I'd only get my mail after 2 am when the only person I might encounter would be night security.

So I'm quite used to staying home now, and it does help that I've got a good-sized window to look out of, this room gets plenty of natural sunlight, and I can hear the sounds of the neighborhood. Right now a crow is talking about something, not sure what.

Leaving to go somewhere is a bit stressful. I need to make sure my diabetic kit is with me (glucometer, test strips, insulin, dextrose, gloves - everything to handle an unexpected spike or an unexpected low). I need to take glasses with me if I need to read something. Water has to come along. Shopping bags to clip to the sides of the walker if I buy something (there's a plastic bag ban on now in Canada, but I still have some I saved and reuse them so many times...). So it's not just walking out the door. It means packing. Like tomorrow's doctor's appointment means packing this stuff, remembering to bring the papers she needs to sign. Worrying about whether the handibus will be on time. I've never been to the new clinic my doctor moved to - it's across town in an area I've only previously seen when it was a farmer's field.

There is a recreational therapist who is trying to help me. I've gone to one place she's suggested, it went okay, but she seemed to think that meant I'm now ready for weekly outings, and was irritated when I told her no, I'm not ready for that.

Staying home... has made me less adaptable to outside chaos. Before I ever return to Walmart, I'll be phoning customer service to ask if they have baskets and a working checkout staffed by a real human, because I can't use a cart and refuse to get bogged down with self-checkout.

If the answer to either question is no, I will not be back.

Capitalism wins again. :smug:

Way bigger than the Titanic!

There are some interesting cruise ship review channels on YT, and there's a Casual Arts game series called Cruise Director (they just released #8 earlier this year).

I'd rather go cruising on Liberty of the Waves (in the game) even though there's so much clutter around (it's a hidden object game and part of it means finding stuff and part of it is cleaning up trash and lost & found items). One thing the game developers do in all their games is show support for disabled people. They have blind characters, characters in wheelchairs, they show that events are accessible, assistance dogs are depicted properly, etc..

Why is this the way it is

I do like how the guy witnessing a murder is so stoic compared to the others

The Vandals were one of the German tribes who sacked Rome. Pfft. Philistines.

I don't understand what the image is driving at.

One of them looks a bit like Paul McCartney.

Where’s the Ohio-Class Ballistic Submarine? 🤨
couldn't find an Ohio vs Titanic graphic , but any Ohio is approximately 5 miles ahead of a Bars or Akula or whatever unless in port .

I am disappointed the list of variations fails to include the down low, indicating that the writer of that blurb is, in fact, too slow.

Though the version I've always heard goes: 'High five, to the side, up above, down below, you're too slow.'

As a corollary to Pascal’s wager, I started flailing my arms around while making fists just in case there are any unfriendly ghosts around.

If you install 10" step over door sills, it should solve any ghost problems.

Is it just my imagination, or is CFC OT practically dead on Sundays
