Rasist Cake

Presumably, judging from the reactions in this thread, people have a strong distaste for a lot of marketing tactics used in the private sector. Or is it not as stupid if it's done for profit?
 
When has the private sector ever tried to sell something using a screaming black man inside a cake made to look like a black woman?
 
What the heck are Swedes doing pissing their money away on a culture ministry anyhow? If they didn't have one, would Swedish culture vanish?

It's no worse than a lot of the gimmicks that are used in marketing.
 
I guess I just don't find it that bad after watching the video. It's a pretty dumb idea, but being pretty dumb isn't exceptional.
 
I found it significantly worse after watching the video. I could have done without a grown man screaming at me; I was much more sympathetic when I thought it was just a cake.
 
I just googled it, and there are two different quotes:

So funny how female genital mutilation has become a trendy thing to hate in the Western world, whereas male genital mutilation is the most commonly performed "surgery" in the United States.

Sexist double standard? I think so.
 
Possibly. They are pretty hard to compare if you look at actual harm done.

Even if you pull from the farthest plausible outliers regarding circumcision it isn't really in the same boat at all as female genital mutilation. If circumcision actually involved lopping off the head of the penis, then sure.

Female and male genital cutting are far more similar than they are different. Both are considered beneficial for reasons of "cleanliness" or "health", both are practiced by doctors, both can lead to serious physical and psychological complications, both have origins in controlling/reducing sexual pleasure, and both are totally unnecessary procedures that inflict tremendous pain on the infant/child.

Male genital cutting is more or less as common as female genital cutting in Africa, and is performed under the same horrific conditions. Boys and girls are frequently held down against their will, to have their genitals cut by someone with no medical expertise, often times with such crude instruments as sharp pieces of glass, and no anaesthesia. The difference is that the UN considers one to be barbaric and atrocious, and considers the other to be a beneficial public health measure. Disgusting hypocrisy.

All genital cutting inflicted on infants is unethical at best, barbaric and torturous at worst.
 
I'm not claiming to be a fan or supporter of male circumcision. I also don't really care about the origin story of either. What I do care about is harm done to individuals. At the end of the day the two practices are hard to compare in that aspect, the impact is not similar. If male circumcision typically involved removing the entire tip of the penis, which would correspond to the removal of the clitoris, I would grant you the point.
 
May I suggest that you move male circumcision to its own thread?
This thread here is about a horrible video female circumcision, not male circumcision.

But like pointed out, the video misses the point. Steers only up some discussions, and in most cases about the wrong point.
 
Arrest the cake decorator and the minister for participating in the creation of some eldritch abomination.

I see no other option.

Is this a joke post? I think you are all just jealous because women like guys who are cut more than uncut guys.
