Rat 22 - AWE RaR large pangaea

Preturn: Switch Capitol to Mill as suggested. Elephant Army are very fragile and can be killed by a attack 4 unit even at full health. Those could come anytime so Spear will need to stay on army.

IBT: Spear attacked by Catapharact (I think) but we win.

70 AD: Armies heal & wait for Spear. Raised science.

IBT: We get Naval Spirit.

90 AD: Capture Niagra Falls. We have the most culture so can handle flip issues.

IBT: Heavy Iroquois Horsman spotted. Heavy Horsemen can kill a healthy Army. Do not leave Armies unguarded Otherwise we won't have them for long. Another horse attacks a Spear.

110 AD: Have gotten several slaves (3 so far). Capture Cattaraugus.

IBT: We get Theology, Clockwork, Vassalage (last via research). We start Feudalism.

130 AD: Mostly move units about. Build new town on Iron - 4 shields on home square.

IBT: Annoying units everywhere.

150 AD: Making some Progress.

170 AD: Advancing on Capitol (Salamanca).

IBT: Lose a Spear on a Hill to an Elephant.

190 AD: Capture Salamanca but cannot keep so I abandon it.
Started FP in Samarra.

IBT: We gain Mounted Archery. Speed 3 units for us AND the enemy. We also get Stirrup.

210 AD: Our front is very long...

230 AD: Auto-raze Kahnawake

250 AD: Line up attack on Tonawanda.

Notes: I would continue going for the Iroquois in the West and Russians North and Capture all their cities. That will help our science and make our front line short compared to the number of cities.

Capitol can build a Knight every other turn.

Iroquois have less than 1/2 our culture. I would capture their cities - not raze. We don't want to shrink our home cities to build more pioneers than we need.

Rat22_AD250.jpg

the frontline will be huge and with all those fast moving units in RaR, that will be a headache for defense...I like the suggested frontlines...

5.300AD

I finished this one and will post after work. I also started Mump3 and will continue tonight.

What a progress compared to my last set when we didn't know anybody :D
GL and rx in all towns, very nice.
Greebley's suggested front looks good but will take some time to establish.

IT: We learn Alchemy by ourselves and Heraldry by the GL. I set to Eng. (bridging) and gunpowder
(bombards and the direction of Cuirassiers) next.
Polys start Shangri La
Our source of Elephanst disappears, a good thing we are already building knights.
An Iro settler pair moves south of Cattarougus.
A few single enemy units come into sight, seems the enemy is spread out as well.

(1) Elephant army destroys Iro city south of Oil springs (2-0)
Advance on 2 Iro cities. Damage 2 enemy units with cats, we haven't enough attackers to finish them off.

IT: At Oil Springs a Iro horse archer dies thanks to the defense bombardement of the cat. (3-0)
The Polys land a crossbowman on the east coast.

(2) Kill the Poly bow with an elephant.
Begin attack on Aweksasne and kill the first 2 defenders (6-0)

IT: The Vikings lose 2 elephants and another unknown units at Zariqum, also another elephant at Tiblisi (10-0)
4 Chinese Heavy Horsemen advance in the east near Tsingtao.

(3) Hm, Akwsasne is extremly strong defended, kill 2 defenders but army cann't take the city.
It is also size 1 so maybe Iros are whiping like crazy.
Kill also 2 Viking units and a russian longbow. (15-0)

IT: Iros lose a horse archer at Oil Springs, another stops outside.
Now there are 5 Chinese Horsemen! near Kish.

(4) Kill 2 of the 5 Horsemen near Kish.
Elephant army captures Mauch Chunk on the western coast, held by 2 defenders.
Nearly lose! an elephant by finishing of the Iro Horse archer neat Oil springs.
Destroy Chondote, the new city the Iros built in the south, we had not enough units to capture the settler. (21-0)

IT: 2 of the Chinese are ready to attack, one loses against a pike but the other kills a healing Elephant :(
we still have not enough troops for such a huge front (22-1)

(5) We finish of the last 2 Chinese Heavy Horsemen and a Jap spear that was running around near Zariqum
Finally, we have enough knights to attack and take Moscow, defeating 3 spears. (28-1)
Armies are healing this turn.

IT: I made a miscalculation at the chinese front, another 2 Heavy horsemen come out of Tsingtao and kill an elephant
I used for the counterattack last turn, my fault.
An Iro horse archer dies at Oil springs (30-2)
Engineering finally comes in, this is a relief because all this rivers were a real pain for troop movements.
Set to gunpowder.

(6) Darn, Iros must have whiped Akwesasne again :( size 1, so the city is autorazed, killed 2 defenders.
This is not so good but no alternative. (32-2)
We have not enough settlers to fill the available land and every city we capture saves a lot of shields.
Change some builds to settlers.
Lots of troop shuffling, knights heal in Moscow.
At Odessa, the russian city north of Zariqum, some Poly and Viking foot units close in.

IT: Chinese Horsemen dies at Kish. (33-2)
Incas finish Sun, Egypt starts Leo.
We get Chivalry, Scientific Method, Guils and Usury from the GL, very nice :D

(7) The bad news, all visible Iro cities are size 1, I decide not to attack them yet, we gain little in razing the cities
and we haven't enough settlers to replace. Prepare for the attack of Odessa and for the incoming units.

IT: Astronomy from the GL.
A Chinese Shoni (seems to be a 4/1/3 Horse archer) and a heavy Horsemen NE of Kish again.

(8) We kill the two spears at Odessa and capture the city together with 3 new slaves.
Also kill of the annoying 2 Chinese units (37-2)

IT: Iro Horse archer stops near Oil Spring

(9) We found Izibia on the southern coast.
Kill 3 Poly foot units and the Iro Horse archer, the later giving us my first leader :D (41-2)
My suggestion would be a chavalier army.

Stop here to let the next player decide on the advance. As stated, all visible Iro cities are size 1,
so we could raze or consolidate our current holdings and wait some turns, eventually a few of them will grow,
but I'm not 100% sure. Please check MM, Babylon need happines badly.

Chinese come this way, speed 2 and 3 units.

Looks like a good turn. I agree that razing the cities isn't very useful if we have nothing to replace it with, though we don't want to pause for too long.

We do need settlers, it would also be nice to push ahead to the east where the continent is thinnest.

seems we need plenty of settlers here, no choice. Let's push the Iro's back where we can
It would be nice to grab that tea near Moscow as an added lux

IHT: Rushed Royal Tournament in Oil Springs. As long as we don't have Jurisprudence, it will produce Amphibious Ansars every 12 turns. We can hold off our research before Jurisprudence. Lots of war techs and Humanism are ahead. Declare on backward Germany.

IBT: Viking Elephant and Chinese Horse Archer impale themselves before our Knights. (2-0)

Turn 1: Navigation is in GL. Polynesia has Education. Kill Iroquois Spear and Tribal and capture the city NE of Odessa. Near Odessa, our Elephant army killed a Polynesian Crossbow and a Shaolin. A knight retreats, and the other kills an Axeman. (7-0)

IBT: Education is in. Angkor is built by Inca.

Turn 2: Lose one Knight against Chinese Heavy Horseman, another two Knights revenged for him and kill two Heavy Horseman in Chinese Front (9-1). Near Odessa, Elephant army blitz three Japanese Champions, a Knight kills another Japanese Otomo Archer, Elephant kills an Egyptian archer near Oka.(14-1)

IBT: Lose another Knight to a Chinese Horse Archer (14-2), Gunpowder is in. Matchlock in 7 turns.

Turn 3: Kills the invading Horse Archer. Another Knight kills a Japanese Champ near Odessa and another MGL! (16-2) Build an army in Odessa.
Iroquois city doesn't grow. I lose my patience and raze Centralia, killing two units. (18-2)

IBT: Chinese Heavy Horseman gathered in northern front. Japanese Otomo and Champ invading.

Turn 4: Massacre Japanese backward military, killing 4 units. Kills an Iroquois Longbow, a Polynesian Shaolin, and a Viking Axe. (25-2) Decide to build a Pike army.

IBT: Nothing.

Turn 5: Kill Polynesian and Viking invaders near Odessa. (27-2) Kills a Pike in Oka, an Egyptian elpehant near Oka. (29-2)

IBT: An Egyptian Mujihad kills our knight near Oka, then an Iroquois Ghost Dancer almost kills our Elephant army to 1hp. (30-3)

Turn 6: Raze Oka. Pursuit the Mujihad and kills him. Another Iroquois unit died in our tundra coast. (33-3) Elephant army retreats.

IBT: A lone knight defends against archer, but succumb to Egyptian Elephant. (34-4) Japan plant a new city on the iron W of Odessa.

Turn 7: Elephant army fight in St. Regis, killing two defenders and yellow-lined. In Chinese front, trade one elephant for three heavy horseman. (39-5)

IBT: Another Chinese Heavy Horseman commit suicide, promoting our Knight. (40-5) Odessa front is getting complicated. Egyptian, Polynesian fast units and Japanese backward army is marching inside our territory. Egypt and Polynesia has Map Making.

Turn 8: Chinese horse and Elephant approaches Moscow. Murdered three more Japanese units and a Iroquois Longbow. (44-5)

IBT: Viking elephant kills a Pikeman, Chinese Heavy Horseman commit suicide against a Pike. (45-6) Research on Banking.

Turn 9: Meet Inca, he's up Physics and Map Making, down Gunpowder.

Kill an Egyptian Elephant near Oil Springs, lose one. (46-7).
In China Front, we kill one Chinese HH and two Germans. (49-7)
In Odessa-St.Regis Front, A Polynesian Shaolin got the karma. Pinned a Viking Elephant and Jap Tribal. (52-7)

IBT: What a terrible Interlude! We almost lose two cities! A Viking Axe amphibiously assaulted a city held by a single Elephant, and a red-lined Egyptian elephant suicidally assaulted Oil Springs. Luckily, RNG stands with us. We loses an Elite* Elephant but another Egyptian IG commit suicide against pike. Lots of Egyptian elephants and several Imperial Guard arrive in the empty former Iroquois land. (55-8)

Turn 10: We defeat two Chinese units in the north. (57-8)

IBT: Watching Egyptian Elephant SOD passes by. Cleopatra trade one elephant with our pike. (58-9)

Turn 11: Annihilated Elephant SOD (64-9), neutralize an landing (65-9), clean Incan in the former Iroquois town W to Moscow. (66-9)

Summary: Our Iroquois flank is rather weak against massive invasion of Egyptian elephants.

Only Inca and Egypt has adequate strength against our military.

Science: We will beeline to Absolute Monarchy, can pre-build Encyclopedia now. Egypt, Inca and Polynesia are advanced.

Note: A hardy is hiding in Larsa.

things are still looking good, as long as the sphinx is still in operation, we are pretty safe. Once it expires, we need a lot of raxes or garrison's. we might want to build some already.

I also think the prebuild has to start soon to bag GL2
