RFCE: Civilopedia Texts

I don't know. We don't actually have a plan for releases.

I think we have a lot of colonies right now.

Did you see my questions about sourceforge on the Military Redesign thread, last post?

As promised, here are the last of the colonial projects texts. (15-19). Finally done!

Wow! Congrats! :goodjob: (but plz no peanut butter jelly time banana :D)

New text version. (1st post this threat) With:
All colonies. (thanks to jessiecat)
All Civics
Some LH
Wonders
Dutch text
Some Unit
Some Buildings
Many more.

@ Sedna17 & 3Miro
If you unclude these files, it is possible it replaces some of your changed ones, so those will be deleted.

Thanks guys. I'll merge these changes in by hand (rather than just replacing the old versions) to avoid overwriting changes.

Just a thought, but would it be possible to add the texts to the splash screens or movie that come up when you build a colony or wonder? Or maybe a second screen following with just the text? That way people could read about what they've just built without having to go to the Civilopedia. It might be a nice unique feature for our mod as well. What do you think?:)

I can give you the complete list of files that have been changed if you want that.

Hey merijn_v1. I'm changed my mind. Can you do this please? That is, please post a list of just the files that you have made changes to? Thanks.

Here they are.

Here are the latest text files to fill the gaps in the unit list. I've not done a text for the Paladin though the existing text could be improved. I've not done text for the Knight Orders yet as I thought we were pasting the Corporation texts there. And of course there's no such unit as a War Galleon so you can scrub that one. Other than that, these are latest unit texts for the civilopedia. Could you please commit them to sourceforge in time for the next Alpha. Thanks.:)

Hey guys,

I've created a threat were you can post the texts (for Civilopedia) of allmost all things in RFCE. We still need a lot of text for all kinds of things. This is the list of things that haven't a text for Civilopedia. (This isn't very important but if you have nothing to do...)

How to make a text:
1. Find the info. (No strategy, all standard texts doesn't have them eiter.)
2. Put it in a text file.
3. Post it in this threat and I'll do the rest.

Units:

All knights of the Crusader Corps (could be same as corp text)
Knight of Aviz (Portugal)

Buildings:
Archery Range
Bulgarian Stan (Bulgaria)
Carpenter
Coffee House
Herbalist
Luxury Store
Mason
Mint (Genoa + better name)
Night Watch
Pagan Shrine
Smokehouse
Soldier Tennant (Sweden)
Stronghold (Hungary)
Tanner
Textile Mill
Weaver
Church (christany temple)
Monastery
mosque (islamic temple)
Jewish Quarter

Wonders:
National University (it's now the Oxford University)
Paco da Rebeira

Resources:
All Access'

Civs:
Austria
Moscow
Norse
Papal
Sweden

Leaders:
Phillip the Bold
Harald Hardraba
Istvan I
Ivan IV
Leopold
Pietro II Orseolo (not necessary, but if we gonna ad more LH I prefer him)
Simeon
Simone Boccanegra
The Pope
Yaroslav

Religions:
Catholisism
Orthodoxism
Protestantism

Updated your list.

Done.

A tab at the begeaning just does not look right. There is a reason why regular civ does not do it.

I will start updating the new texts to make them more proffesional this week. Like a tab in the beginning.

I don't think a tab at the beginning looks more professional. The way it is looks better IMO. What is needed is cleaning up the spacing to make more defined paragraphs.
Also, I'm working on the rest of the missing unit texts. Watch this space.

What entries are still missing?

What entries are still missing?

See the first post in this thread. I'm finishing the units now. Others, like some buildings still need doing.
You can help with that if you like.:)

Couldn't you say that earlier. I have just finished ALL text files to include that. Now I can redo it again.

How do you want it then?

Current:
Paragraph 1. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext
Paragraph 2. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext
Paragraph 3. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Style 1:
Paragraph 1. texttexttext
texttexttexttexttexttext
Paragraph 2. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext
Paragraph 3. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Style 2:
Paragraph 1. texttexttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Paragraph 2. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Paragraph 3. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Style 3:
Paragraph 1. texttexttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Paragraph 2. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

Paragraph 3. texttext
texttexttexttexttexttext

If you've already done it, it's OK. And I don't mind the style as long as you don't double-space between paragraphs. So not styles 2 or 3 though I can't see the difference between them.:D

What I mean about spacing is when the notepad text is pasted into the box some sentences stop in mid-line and appear broken like this.

TABxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxx.
TABxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Text should be justified on the left and right margins like this, except for the tab and end of paragraph;

TABxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx.
TABxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxx.

I'd illustrate from the Civilopedia but my DVD player has stopped working and I can't access the game right now. Sorry.
