Rick Perry files lawsuit against everything he stands for

I thought primaries were "private" with the parties setting the requirements... Are they still swiping our taxes to help pay for their party convention fun?

Third parties have been fighting restrictive ballot access laws for decades, gotta  at Repugs whining about it now.

Rick Perry is a true American. Any criticism against this great man should frankly be considered: un-American.
I hope you're kidding. I really, really do.

he probably is, but one man's sarcasm is another man's stupidity. Don't be surprised to see comments like this from Perry followers.

Four Republicans to Join Perry’s Virginia Ballot Rule Challenge

Dec. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Republican presidential candidates Michelle Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum said they will join Texas Governor Rick Perry in his lawsuit seeking to be placed on Virginia’s March 6 primary ballot.

Only former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and U.S. Representative Ron Paul of Texas met Virginia’s petition requirements to earn a place on the ballot. The state’s Republican Party said Dec. 24 that Perry and Gingrich, the former U.S. House speaker, failed to get proper signatures from 10,000 registered voters as required.

I would hope that these 5 candidates would sue any other state that has similar restrictions.

“I think the ballot access laws in RI probably need to be reviewed especially in light of what we can do with technology,” Zaccaria said. “The thing is do we really want to restrict ballot access? The answer is probably no.”

Only for candidates! Restricting ballot access for voters, yeah, that's okay though.

A thousand signatures, really? I'd sign for any of those clowns to make the ballot. A thousand, lol.

If none of the Republican candidates care, maybe someone could organize collecting signatures for Obama, so that he will be the only candidate in the Republican Rhode Island primary

How many CFC'ers are there in Rhode Island? If they ask all their friends and relatives to sign, could we make sure Downtown is on the ballot?

Can't, Downtown being CFC President means there'd be a conflict of interest. Now LucyDuke, on the other hand... :mischief:

I know there's at least one other, but I bet I'm the only one who cares. I've written in downtown before and I'll do it again.

It will still matter for Newt, Huntsman, and Santorum. So, worst case scenario is probably a new, identical suit.
