Rick Santorum calls Obama a Government Nig-

He was going to say-

  • Total voters
    45
My question to you is do you think he is actually racist himself, or does he just make these "stumbles" to appeal to certain voters.

I honestly don't think he's bright enough or practiced enough to do that as a deliberate thing as dog whistling.

While I don't buy his bla people explanation, I think in this case he could have just flubbed some random syllable.
I do too, in the end. These guys get tired, and he's probably putting his entire effort into this, as the curtain is calling.

Maybe he said, as some commenter said... "Put a fork in me, I'm done".

One Republican's racist?

I guess we're all racist then.

1) Women ?
2) Mexicans ?
3) Blacks ?
4) Muslims ?
5) Anyone else I missed ?

Republicans pretty much painted themselves into this corner. Cant be too many Lincon republicans left.

You people just don't understand. Calling people nigs is perfectly fine... if that's how you were raised... and happen to be a congressman.

Link to video.

FYI, Sen. Byrd died at age 92 in 2010, and he said he felt terrible about being part of the KKK and voting against the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

If a Democrat had said it, he would have apologized and dropped out of the race.

Pretty sure he meant what he said. Government Nig, nigg@-in-gasta. Kinda like commander-in-chief. See, it all fits.

EDIT: the n-word spelled with an a is still an n-word I guess here.

Anyway, this really angers me, I am a hard-core Conservative, and along with the majority of Conservatives, I abhor racism. Oh, and it was us republicans who ended slavery, and the first black, Hispanic, and Asian politicians were Republicans.

I just want to remind you, that the Republicans and Democrats switched places during their respective histories (The racist Democrats went over to the Republican side, whilst the more liberal Republicans left to join the Democrats)

I know that, but Abraham Lincoln was not a liberal, and there is nothing inherently racist about Fiscal or Social Conservatism.

So your argument is that because a black man is part of the Republican party that mean's it isn't racist?

What?

I mean, ignoring the whole Hispanic problem that the Republican party has (especially in Arizona) the Republican party isn't known for it's tolerance or love of non-white people. (See Birtherism, the Tea Party, Rick Santorum, The George Zimmerman bullcrap).

Or hell, even look at Reagan's racist Dog-whistle comments about the "Welfare Queens" or the Party's repeated attempts to destroy the social safety net, one which African-Americans rely quite heavily on.

Well, no, but there is something inherently racist about the policies thereof. :p

I mean the Republican party's reaction (along with their supporters) to Obama's presidency smacks completely of racism and "othering" (Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh et al. etc).

Maybe he was going to say government ninja, meaning that Obama is very sneaky. Then he remembered that ninjas are cool, so he stopped himself.

No, it probably was going to be the N-word.

There are a few people worth being angry at, namely those that assume Santorum has a personal issue with n-words just because he has personal issues with queers and women. Those that assume you must knowingly, intentionally support rasist drivel. That isn't fair.

Oh, and it was us republicans who ended slavery, and the first black, Hispanic, and Asian politicians were Republicans.

(I'm not going to bother with fact-checking, despite "first ____ politician" having basically no meaning without an arena specified, or arguing about the relative distribution of credit for whatever accomplishments you'll claim. Someone else can do that.)

Anyway.

That wasn't today's Republicans. Today's Republicans can only claim to carry a torch if they keep moving forward. No effort, no credit.
