[R&F] Rise and Fall Screenshot discussion

They must've been working on this for a long time. I wonder how many of the things we got in seasonal patches were possible because of this expansion or vice versa? I'm remembering how they added snow drifts to districts in the snow and I wonder if that is related to that antarctic-research-station-looking building. Maybe they realized they'd have to add it anyway when developing the research station and just decided to add it to the base game as well, if it would require some sort of architecture change and it would be easier to change it now rather than retroactively change anything they added later before the expansion was released.

I'm hoping they replace the amalgamated Celts with a specific Celtic civ, like Ireland led by Brian Boru, which would certainly involve Armagh.
Or better yet, the Gauls led by Vercingetorix. Though Ireland would be a great civ to take advantage of dark ages. It could have a unique ability like Monastic Literacy: +x% culture and science during dark ages.

That's an interesting Civilization...
Yes, they are. Rich culture, advanced metallurgists, highly mobile social structure. Lots to love there. :D

Like the new religious overlay? I wonder if that isn't just a retooling of an overlay they built for the Loyalty System.

definitely has a feeling of work on one informed the other. not sure which would have come first retooling religion or adapting loyalty interface backwards, but it seems like safe bet the changes were related

I wondered about that as well. I really hope it's regional, both because Korea and Mongolia would both be strange choices for monument replacements and just because that's something that should have been done all along.
I hope that is the case. A monument that looks like Trajan's column in Rome would look nice.
I'm under the impression that might be a Japanese city if the wonder is Kotoku-in. Just because in the other screenshots the American city has the Statue of Liberty and the Russian city has the Kremlin/St. Basil's Cathedral. Plus Korea needs to build Seowons and Mongolia their Gers.

Kairouan, specifically the Great Mosque of Kairouan is a UNESCO world heritage site and probably the closest thing I've seen for the middle eastern wonder. However the screenshot lacks a minaret.....
If it is indeed that mosque, it‘s done terribly in many ways. Same is true for all other candidates that I can find.
I‘m beginning to favor a unique improvement instead of a wonder actually.

What is the city center style? (what kind of region style?). I am not good in recognizing that.

What do we see:
Possibly desert bias start
a ET district on water / suzerainty unique improvement
Culture / Holy / Science / Commercial / Harbor district

Okay that doesn't tell you a lot, so if we want to see what kind of civilization, we should check the architectural style of the city center.

It‘s the US. But that means nothing. A lot of the screenshots and first looks featured impossible things.

In that case it could be Canada. Toronto shares the same style. :mwaha:

I'm back and forth. The thing isn't a caravansary, because there aren't interior stalls. It's also very sea-oriented. It is partially fortified, but not enough to make it some kind of citadel or castle. So to me, it's likely a feitoria, or something that fulfills the same role.

BUT...

There doesn't seem to be many world famous fortified seaside warehouses.

So maybe a UI? But it doesn't match Portuguese or Dutch architecture. Maybe some Islamospheric sea-going trade civ?

Oman? Doesn‘t fit the architecture. Interesting civ.
It can be a very weird unique Khan improvement of the Ottomans. Wouldn‘t like that, however.
