and, not for nothing, but i think the pic of me is by far the funniest ~ obviously i'm saying, "If you don't love america, LEAVE IT!!"

i think i like B ~ "A" seems too north (i think that's tundra on the island under the fog NW), and "C" is a little light on resources for 3cc imo

In B, that's coast in the east right? That makes 7+1xClam+1xFish coastal tiles and 1 ocean.. and it's polar... :eek:

3 plains hills but one has sheep and the other wine... not sure how that is considered hammers unless you guys are planning on mining the sheep and wine.

sheep are good for hammers, iirc, no? plus, there's 4 plains tiles, counting down from the sheep. sure, the wine will eventually be 'wineried' but an early mine seems the more appropriate move with that tile.

i'm just afraid with B, there'll be no more room for another city on the isle, but we'll see.
 
er yeah 4 plains hills hehe opps. Horses and Cows add hammers, Sheep Just add 2 food 1 commerce.

Anyway, sorry for the miscount.. Rough rolls on those maps.

what's with all those lakes? I have rarely had lakes in archipelago, and you rolled 3 start all with lakes? :rolleyes: Frankly, I rather have a river than a useless lake.

Production is paramount in archipelago and AW, and we need wonders, so B is definitely slightly better in that respect. But there is lots of useless sea tiles. I would actiually prefer A.

C is indeed fine (if we could teraform those peaks into farms ... in real life, people in the indonesia, tibets, phillipines have been able to build farms on mountain slopes), but loses out immensely on productive capability.

Geographically, I think the tile 1N of hilly sheeps is also a hill, so making A & B having same number of hills. B wins slightly for having more plains but loses on the vast number of sea tiles.

Resource wise, B wins slightly as well, since a new resource is better than a repeated resource.

so, settle on the spot, and head where? archery or a slight detour for religion?? obviously, WB first ~

Lurker: You start with Mysticism... Would it not be an idea to head for a religion (despite no commerce tiles in inner tiles w/o fishing) while pumping some Warriors out? Then head Fishing and then AH for military? Am I completely off?
 
thot we start with agr and fishing ~ and i see we have absolutely no concensus about opening moves ~

perhaps we also should think about overarching strategy, too, with this ~ w/3cc, as all have repeatedly pointed out, we're behind the 8 ball in some respects. I like the idea of bulbing religions, and think we should aim for a GP-type strat for at least one city. Another city might be good if we could build wonders, but i don't know if we can afford to spend the hammers that way. we may be looking at a totally "passive" cultural game in some aspects.
 
lurker's comment: Thanks Greyfox, forgot this was an archi. Haven't played this map in a while, so I'm guessing there is a high possibility of being issolated. If that is the case, then I can see going for an early religion, aim for Judaism. Honestly, I'm not really sure what the best way to start this is. The AW 3CC Culture is really throwing me. :crazyeye:

I REALLY hope they're not isolated (and in fact I doubt they will be...) as this would kinda offset the 'AW' feature of the game and take away all the joy from watching the brave DMs being slaughtered :satan:.
 
Even if we are not isolated pre-optics, the danger of galley-mounted invasion by AI is really minimal. We should be aiming of polytheism IMHO. The Natives starts with Fishing and Agr, so let's go Myst -> Poly, while building WBs.

Depending on our success with Hindu, we may need to go Mining (if we need to get Judaism instead) or Animal Husbandry. Sailing is pretty high in priority as we want to deny TGL to AI as well. Plus a few triremes would be good.
