ROTQM7: Really?! Okay . . . Thanks for the "Memories"

ruff is somewhat busy lately, as his original PM back to me noted so I *think* he'll show up in the nick of time ~

"now, THAT's a knife!"

okay, i'm on this and will play when i get home from school!

and, dang! yesterday was my 3 year anniversary here on CFC!

To all lurkers: don't get too excited and go all anticipatory with that.

Question is how many days would it take to go from "school" to "home".

Eg, pholky may decide to go visit his old flame and stay there for a week before getting back home.

Or he may decide to celebrate his "3 years anniversary" and got drunk and sleep in rubbish den for 3 days.

Or he may actually be staying in the school until weekend (for example, he was detained by the principal for inappropriate conduct ).

Or pholky may somehow decide that his house is not his "home", merely a place he stays in .... until such a fateful moment that he decides "home is home, afterall".

Or he can't decide which is school and which is home ;)

school == home == school .... of course, he'd be confused

Iirc, you do not need Mining for Masonry if you have Polytheism. I may be wrong about this (like I was wrong about your starting techs), but I believe the RR3 people are going straight for Masonry without Mining in the box.

yes, very funny ~

The Sulu Dance

you can dance like sulu . . .

and, btw, @ Rowain ~ the XXXed out name and smaller font was a good touch :goodjob:

So I founded on the spot,
Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

and agonized a bit over early MMing. I decided to go all out on production and work that plains hill first and forgo any growth. I'm sure that might earn my a :whipped: but my back is well-healed; i can take it.

It would take only 12 turns to get the WB that way, so I went ahead and did it. I also set our sights on Mysticism > Poly

2 turns later:
Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

D'oh! Well, i guess city 2 is off-island.

As usual, our borders popped in 3800 bc and Myst came in 2 turns later.

Hey, it's been awhile ~ so i want to see tech splashes! So sue me.

Our workboat came due and went right on the fish for max growth. I started on another WB to explore the tiny bit of land you can spot in the Mysticism screen above.

Nothing much else happened for the next dozen turns, and Poly came in as expected . . . well, not exactly as expected:

Yeah, i had on "Choose Religions," so we're Taoist Natives. Well, not really as i didn't convert yet either . . .

And here's the our first city and isle.

I slotted in Sailing next as I had no idea where we wanted to go next. However, in retrospect now, I think Mining > BW is the way to go. All in all, a very normal opening in a very un-normal game.

I await the Fox ~

folk > just played
Phox > UP NOW
Ozzie > on deck
Ruphff > still in the brush
Timon of Athens > who?

Nope noone said anything about mining (Jedi handsweep)

Depending on our success with Hindu, we may need to go Mining (if we need to get Judaism instead) or

 :hammer2: ... that was a typo, I meant masonry ...

Another thing I hate abt pholky is he choose all the stupid options -- insisting on Tech trading in an AW game, and now selecting "Choose Religion" where religion grab is important.

:gripe:

In order to determine what tech next, we need to decide the short term objectives. What do we want next?

Another religion? Is Mediation-religion found yet? Or do we go for Monotheism while we can?

A wonder? Which one? TGL is pretty important for denial on this map, stonehenge with our victory condition would be useful (plus the GP would be handy). Oracle is within grab since we nabbed poly.

Settle the next city?

Personally I will go for mining and sailing next, with the intention to increase our production capability to eye the TGL. BW can wait a bit since the happy cap is higher on noble, we can delay whipping a bit. Being 3CC, we should not rush for our 2nd city, but to choose carefully. That can only happen after we produce an exploring WB or galley.

What a crapola starting posy. Get an exploring WB and check if it is better to have the second city on the starting landmass or whether the second landmass can support two cities better.

Choose religions is good once we know if we can grab any cathedral resources (copper/stone/marble).

TGL would be great denial.

well, there's no tech trading in this game, so at least you get 1 out of 2. the med-religion has been founded already, so if we want another, we'll have to go with Mono.

I think an early wonder is definitely needed. We should take advantage of our relative quiet time before the attacks come. with your island AW games, you have the advantage over, well, at least me, Fox ~ TGL might work out real well with our island start as we could use a lighthouse, too. (You DO mean lighthouse right??)

Wow guys, that's a genuine Pholky start there.

4 out of 5 Hof'ers Reroll... (the other one just shuts the pc off via the psu switch):goodjob:

Nothing like needing sailing to grab a second city!

Cheers!

Ofcourse I meant the TGLighthjouse. It is far too important to let AI get it, although it doesn't help us much (seeing as we would only have 3 cities )

Anyway, turns played. Couldn't be more boring ....

RotQM7-BC3200-Boring.jpg

The words "Autosaving ..." just keep scroll by while I just keep pressing enter ... until some significant person interrupted me and asked me to go shopping with her ....

Zara-shop.jpg

Well, the prospect of seeing some cute young things wearing short school uniforms might appeal to some school teacher we all despise :mischief:, it doesn't really seems very palatable to me ... esp not when you are there just to swipe your cards and carry exquisite bags embroiled with the words "Z.A.R.A" ...

... Or when we can have Zara pay us a visit rather we haul our own a$$ there ...

RotQM7-BC3150-Zara.jpg

So there, our closest island is already occupied. I think we meant want to capture the closest capitals as our 2nd and third city rather than building them ...:hammer:

End of turns:

RotQM7-BC2925-sit.jpg

We got Mining and Sailing. I am building a worker to mine the sheeps. AH can wait a bit I think. Tentatively I am choosing Masonry to go for Monotheism. I think we will need more religions. But it is okay if the next player would rather go for BW.

I suggest we finish the worker, a wandering work boat, followed by lighthouse and then TGLighthouse.

I have to say BW right? If we have another religion, but are confined to an unofficial OCC instead of the meager 3 everyone's been complaining about . . .

I think i'd rather have the cities and lose the religion. 'course, we may not have the metal, but I think we have to try, no?

Also, who's to say that the island south of us wouldn't have room for at least one city of ours, even if there's two of Zara's down there.

And I resemble your accusations . . . er, RESENT, resent your accusations!
