ROTQM7: Really?! Okay . . . Thanks for the "Memories"

oh man - i looks like I played from the wrong save. Guess I get to play another set later tonight.

That stupid CTD Log game is back. Someone has the wrong color file ... and it isn't me (the game would have opened the log fine if it was). We need to run this game through the fixing procedure that Dresden put together (and find out who broke our game ... and :gripe: and :hammer::ar15::trouble::deal:[pissed]:spank: them mercilessly).
lurker's comment: I bet it was pholk :p Kill, kill :ar15: :run:

Ha ... I was like "Hmmm ... we got a GP so fast to bulb another religion?" when I read your report, and then a sense of Deja Vu overwhelmed me when I read Pholky's comment on "sucks on the oracle" ... .... he actually commented on the smae thing twice and had not realized it, goes to show his intellectual prowess

And the fix log confirmed me suspicions in the earlier SG ... pholky is the culprit. Please purge your BtS installation of the cutie sim py.

Don't you love the way life balances out. I have to skip on the first round and then I have to play the second round twice - balance.

I fix the ingame log CTD (again).
I research animal husbandry (again).
I get our scouting fishing boat killed (again).
I kill Zara's scout (again).
I finish our capital's library (again).
I hire scientists in the capital (again).
I pop horses at the capital (again).

New Stuff
I pop a great person ... a Merchant who will lightbulb currency
I get our nets pillaged at Gondar
I start it on a very slow library
We don't have 2 workers
I dialed down tech to 0% while we finished our library (after finishing maths for the extra hammers from chop)
I notice that BUG log puts the ...

[tab]80% Research: 16 per turn
[tab]0% Espionage: 4 per turn
[tab]20% Gold: 0 per turn, 168 in the bank

... in the wrong place - they should go after 'turn end' as it represents the settings of those dials during the end of turn processing.

a little of column A, a little of column B,

Or, in other words, six of one, half-dozen of the other

alright ~ tough luck on the oracle, but the war came first imo.

let's just hope we don't have about 6 or 8 archers to deal with now that we're surrounding the city ~

let's give ruff a chance here and see if he's got the time or inclination ;) :)

looks good, but sucks on the oracle. i wanted to start it in my set, but we never really had a consensus on the tech then. ahh well ~ 'tis okay.

btw, i'm a coach at my school adn we won our first match today! nice!!

i see it, but won't get it until wednesday next, play until the friday after may day, and post shortly thereafter . . . .

. . . that i won't be posting my set until labor day.

You need to make sure you remove the SimCutie ColorVals.xml file, as detailed in Dresden's post here. Below, I extracted the important stuff out ... since asking pholk to figure out what to do from the whole post would be asking too much for a man of Pholk's intellect.

Spoiler Extracted from Dresden Post :

...
Instructions
  1. First, verify that you do not have SimCutie's version of CIV4ColorVals.xml installed in your CustomAssets folder (it should be under .../XML/Interface/ if you have it.) If you do have this file, remove it from your CustomAssets because that's the file that has caused all this trouble and if it is still present, the save won't be fixed.
...

Then, install latest BUG mod that does not ship with the SimCutie xml.

Who's up?

ya know, after this abuse, i might just post a got it and never return ~

got it

:mischief:

[really, installing bug, and playing tomorrow. kids are going away tomorrow night, and the wife and i are leaving on saturday, so it'll be done before then]

so, please, help me out here ~

it must be my small intellect, but what's the plan here, besides the tactical move on the capital? What's the strategy for victory??

I refuse to begin my delaying of playing without a plan in place. (Like that? alliteration and rhyme in one sentence)

Long term: the capitol is definitely gonna rely on its holiness and wonderfulness to reach legendary. 2nd city is a bit of a mix, food wise it is not enough to support high specialists, so it probably require mix of specialist and cottages multiplied by cathedrals. Assuming Aksum is the third city, it should be able to do a mix of cottages and wonders.

Mid term: we need to reach optics first and use mass of caravels to protect ourselves from invasions. The ships control the game in this map.

Short term: we should probably send a couple of units to nearby civs to discourage their growth. We should build more ships (triremes is as important as galleys), and possibly slip in a wonder or two.

ask and ye shall receive ~

dl'ing and installing bug now, playing shortly

Well my set was dominated by what to do with our GP, Something Ja-something. I tried to remember it from playing until writing but alas ~ so I'll do the american thing, and all him Sam Johnny ~

So, my set was dominated by what to do with Sam Johnny ~ after, that is, i started playing the RIGHT set ~ now THAT would've been funny!!

So i refounded buddhism
Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

but then restarted. Initially, things were good. Sam Johnny stayed in the city, and our boat was healing near our new lands
Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

When odd reports came back to us from teh nearby horse farms.
Civ4ScreenShot0002.jpg

S.J. (that's even better) had been coming out here for weeks now, secretly, with his camel, and having his lewd way with the animals. Notice that horse in the lower left can't even watch, and is throwing up!!

Our neighbors were so incensed by this, horse-lovers adn equestrians all, they even made better weapons to kill us with:
Civ4ScreenShot0003.jpg

Luckily, after thousands of years, we learn how to build stuff
Civ4ScreenShot0004.jpg

I stopped there. I set research to wheel so we can get some of our resources hooked up, esp. those horses.

Civ4ScreenShot0005.jpg

Our worker is now corralling those sheep to prevent any species-spreading for S.J., and the horses are next. I imagine a Golden Age might be good for us right now. The boost might be nice to finish off Zara, and make a sizeable navy ~ i'm thinking 1 turn production maybe ~ 10 turns, 10 units

anyway, discuss amongst yourselves. I'm up for a whipping as Fox is UP NOW, with Ozbenno on deck ~ i'll be back tomorrow afternoon so i don't think i'll miss much.

Bulbing currency is better than GA, but I think settling is even better.

Why are we even building a courthouse in the first place?

I think 5 cats may be an overkill ... ... 2 or 3 should be enough.

Got it, but I am due for a long trans pacific flight, so don't hold your breathe for a turnset. I haven't looked at the save yet, but the name of save file doesn't seems right. BC 2000????

Not that we like to abuse you, pholky, but somehow even when you play within 48hrs, you still invariably managed to find some other way to delay the game.

Lurker's comment:

Always fun watching how you guys love each other... there are rarely more fun in-between-set times than in pholk's SGs ;) keep up the :hammer:

Maybe the Pholkster is attending his Civaholics Anonymous meetings again.

Of course, he's got a lot of to confess to his fellow addicts.

"I started a Civ4 SG last week." Gasps. To them an SG is a three-day bender.

now you see why ~ they're not screw ups ~ they're purposeful actions taken to get laughs. I'm just a comedic genius, not a jerk ;)

He might even be starting another soon :mischief:
