Wait. So the MoH no longer allows you to use a GA's ability twice? That's a bummer, if true. I don't remember which admirals it was, but if you could generate the admiral that allows you to build an ironclad and the one that forms an armada/fleet early enough, your two ironclads could capture as many coastal cities as you wanted.

Fixed a bug where pillaged districts would not regain applied bonuses upon repair.

Happy about this one. Had this bug hit me during a golden age as Mali.

I'm a bit disappointed Firaxis didn't tweak the Diplomatic Victory in this patch (to make Diplomatic Victory Vote win more possible). Maybe next time though;)

My main issue with Diplo victory is that it has nothing to do with diplomacy. Maximizing diplo favor rarely ever decides a thing for diplo victory, playing peacefully and forming alliances doesn't increase your odds of winning. Worst of all the "right" strategy is to vote against yourself. Totally convoluted. I really hope this is high on their radar for the next patch.

I would love to take a peek at those saves if you have either of them handy.

Unfortunately, I deleted both of them already. Neither had gotten past Turn 100, and both were using a dozen or more Mods, so I did not think they'd be useable or playable again until weeks or months from now - some of the Mods that went Unplayable from GS and the Patch right afterwards are still unusable. . .

Wow, really surprised this landed today. Firaxis wants to surprise us. Good!

I am also not that interested in the Red Death MP scenario, but will try it in Hot Seat sometime just for a bit of fun. I am more interested in playing actual civilizations through the "test of time". But I would like to give MP more of a chance, unfortunately I cannot find the time nor the friends who would not just prefer to play it as a domination game only. People are so impatient in MP.

Having read the patch notes, there are enough changes and fixes there that make it worth my while and am grateful for them. Now, let's see if I can play it on my Mac. I haven't tried it yet.

Random minor thought: In my first post patch game I started on rainforest. When I tried to plop a city down it said "This will remove the rainforest, are you sure?"
I don't think the game used to do that.

Yes. It is in the patch notes. It is a new thing.

Unfortunately it does: just installed the patch and tried to continue a hotseat game that was working fine yesterday, but now, whenever I click on the "Choose production" button for any city, the game just crashes! Looks like this completely breaks the PBEM community!! (Don't they have any kind of quality control before they release a patch? Setting the production project for a city is one of the most common tasks we do in Civilization, besides moving the units around...!)
Ugh, that's incredibly lame. Luckily I saw this before turning my PC on (having been away on a work trip) so have put my Steam on offline mode, hopefully I can trick it into not updating long enough for me to finish the game.

I hate having to do this, though. And it's not like I don't want to install the new patch and have all the shiny features - I really do! I'd just like to continue my current game in peace, thank you very much! Ugh. Makes me nostalgic for the days of "the patch has been posted and you can download and install at your leisure..."

/dinosaurrant :p

I was able to start a SP game on my MacBook but not connect to Multiplayer Red Death. I like MP combat even though I don't play enough to be any good at it - or have a fast enough computer to win the click fests.

'Bye all for now, and thanx a lot Firaxis and Aspyr for the Undocumented Change.

Say it ain't so, Bo(ris)...

Well, already noted a couple of things, as have others:
1. Breaks current games, had to delete both of my games in progress.
2. 'Some' Mods are now broken, but haven't discovered which ones yet. When I tried to start a new game with my normal suite of Mods it gave me an Incompatible error message, when I disabled about 2/3 of them the remaining few worked fine. Going to have to do some experimenting.

And one unexpected 'Benefit' of the Patch:
3. On my iMac, at least, Graphics are *&^%$# up royally. All my Custom Graphics settings went back to Default, and no matter what graphic settings I try to use, the game will only open in Windowed Mod, using about 2/3 of my screen. Since I bought the large screen (27") in the first place so that I could use Full Screen for graphic-heavy games, this is a game-breaker. Nothing seems to make it go into Full Screen Mode, so until I disable auto-update and go back and reload from a previous System Save without the patch, I will not be playing Civ VI any more.

They do not always break games but I always assume so I usually start new ones. And yes, it seems that at least a few Mods are not working but I usually disable all of them every patch and look around "as is" first.

But I am concerned about your game not starting in Full Screen. Mine is working on my iMac. Do you have Metal enabled in the Mac Launch Screen. People are reporting in the Steam Mac Forum that that is causing their games going into Windowed Mode. I guess Aspyr will have to fix that soon, but try it without Metal enabled and see if it works for you.

Timing of the patch was a pleasant surprise, although the lack of QA updates on Steam suggested things were ready to go.

Now, do I stick with my original plan for Peter on tilted axis, or go for Trajan on primordial?

Those two ironclads would also become an infinite supply of coal out of nowhere if you made a fleet out of them :D

Well, the wonder had to be weakened somewhere with that upgrade... For me personally it was more about engineers than admirals anyway.

Someone over in the Macintosh Civ VI Threads solved it (at least for me): Metal is not working on the Mac as of this Patch, and you have to go into Options on the Aspyr splash screen and select OpenGL. Works fine, now, but definitely a Bug, because lots of people on the Mac for Civ VI Thread on Steam have been complaining about this. Metal must have been some kind of Default, because I know I never selected it since I started playing Civ VI several years ago.

So, My Forum Death has been Premature, but I was pretty bummed out for a couple of hours . . .

As to Mods, Patches and DLCs, one cannot be an Optimist. Disabled all my Mods, selectively re-enabled the ones I absolutely don't want to play without (Sukritect's Resources Tsunami Waves Light, Faster Moving Initial Settlers, etc.) and my first Test Game worked with all of them, at least for 50 turns. The Modded Civs, City States, Wonders, etc can wait: most of them were just Nice To Have, Non-Essential anyway.

Fixed an issue where production on a unit could be transferred to something else by removing that unit from the production queue.

Looks like they finally fixed the ridiculously broken production exploit, that's good. Has anyone confirmed it no longer works? Not that I ever used it but idk if others did.

Hope I can stop it from updating on my pc until I finish my current game that I really want to see through.

I've been playing with the new patch with a lot of mods and had no problems. From what I remember... expanded initial vision, resourceful 2, terra mirabilis, a lot of world wonder mods...

Glad to hear Terra Mirabilis works, haven't 'tested' it yet. I'll probably start several test Games tonight, each with a couple of added Mods until I confirm/deny all of my favorites. I've got about 1/3 confirmed so far just from one Test Game this afternoon.

I know people were speculating wether Dennis Shirk was being only playful in the video about the Terra Map containing a "mystery". Has anyone found if truly there is something else in that map that would solve the "mystery"?

Now, maybe you guys knew this but for the life of me I couldn't find this screen (below) when I wanted to create a game. It was shown in the video and even the Patch Notes stated:
  • New Map Type UI when starting a new game that features filtering and icon visualizations for the different maps. Only on “Create Game” and “Advanced Setup” menus in single player.
I even went to game options to see if I have to enable it, but nothing. Then trying stuff I pressed Control + TrackPad Click (Mac) (I guess it should be Control + Mouse Right Click on PC) and it pops up from both the Create Game Menu or Advanced Setup Menu. Well, maybe this will be useful to someone.:D

Still no Policy Change Reminder officially in the game. God that's the most useful mod of them all.

- Some bias adjustments to improve attacks on enemy cities.
- Improve range/bombard garrisoning and improve melee garrison logic to attack when it is safe.
- Don't try to assemble city attacks for target cities that have an unclear or hidden path. Improve ability to protect embarked units.
- Normalize evaluation of emergency projects (Send Aid was especially overvalued).
- Fixed a bug where pillaged districts in a conquered city would cost the full production price to repair. Now they cost 25% as intended.

These are all great. District repair in particular should help the AI a lot. It was too easy to just pillage their stuff and after that they would repair nothing and never catch up.

I just restarted my game and now just by clicking the Choose Map Type, the above map selection screen shows up. I am guessing that when I first loaded the game, it loaded my previously selected mods and one of those was making it so I had to use Control to have it shown.
