Server migration completed

Attached is the list of files that had link to AtomicGamer.
The green highlighted ones are already handled. If you guys could help contact the modders to ask them to re-upload, that would be great.

Awesome. I've made a Google Spreadsheet out of it at this URL, so that it can be collaboratively updated. I'll make a link to it in the Civ3 C&C forum as well.

There's a weird red line near the top of every page, between the box containing things like what part of the site I'm on, the link to my account and private messages, that sort of thing... and the boxes containing everything else, like the "reply to thread" box I'm currently typing in or my list of subscriptions.

It's an ad frame. I disabled my AdBlock and an ad appears there. :)

I see that now.

I don't suppose that ad could be moved somewhere else, like to the very top of the page? That's a kind of irritating place to put it.

You can fetch Element Hide too. That way you can select stuff to hide yourself, like ads not picked up by adblocker, or anything else you want hidden for any reason.

Just keep in mind that if you select the 'wrong' tag, you could hide pretty much the whole site, though that is easily fixable ofc.

The ads we serve now are all from Google AdSense. It should be higher quality ads than before and we shouldn't get any annoying ads like audio/video/popup ads which we used to get from time to time due to bad third party ad agencies.

They don't recommend putting ads all the way at the top, as people tend to ignore it completely. That's the reason for the different location.

As we are hosting the site on our own server now, we prefer the site to be self–subsistent and pays for the monthly server costs through ad revenues, instead of having to rely on donations. We don't think donation is a consistent, long term solution.

I also have had good load speeds today. I guess some sort of optimization or indexing has worked its way through the system.

Minor issue with the Advance Sort by keywords in the title. On the old system I could search for "timeline" and get threads containing "timeline" and "timelines" now I only get the exact word. When I searched for "punk" I would get the threads with "Clockpunk" and "Atompunk" now I get none.

Also if I "fast go to latest post" in a sub-forum and it is the only new posts in that sub-forum the sub-forum still says there are new posts when there aren't.

I have AD-blocking turned off for Civfanatics. Every bit helps I suppose.

Speed is good at this time.

Are files which were downloadable through atomicgamer still there? I was looking for a link to the Civ4BtS mod: Thomas' War and the one in here doesn't work.

Things are working much better this morning. I just posted a poll for the Iron Pen competition and it went very smoothly - no long hang times.

Thanks. :) Yes, every little bit helps.
I've turned mine off as well, so far the ads have been tolerable and acceptable. To be honest I would rather just donate directly, is that an option as a supplement to the ads?

Very minor issue - I happened to be looking at the "About Us" page. When I clicked to see what the two comments said I received the following error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function handle_bbcode_drupal() in /home/civforums/public_html/includes/class_bbcode.php on line 1337

Probably unrelated to the server migration but you might like to add it to the list of issues.
