Server migration completed

I've turned mine off as well, so far the ads have been tolerable and acceptable. To be honest I would rather just donate directly, is that an option as a supplement to the ads?
Thanks! :) I will consider adding a donate button option as well, perhaps to the top right of the page.

Any ETA on adding back who is visiting each subforum?

Very minor issue - I happened to be looking at the "About Us" page. When I clicked to see what the two comments said I received the following error message:

Probably unrelated to the server migration but you might like to add it to the list of issues.

An error on line 1337... :D

Better speed today. :please: let it last.

Seems to be issues with attachments, though. For instance, I just get a page with a dot on for the attachment here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=9030955&postcount=11

I'm getting an impressive improvement in loading speed since I checked by 10 hours ago - it's seemed for a few days like the pages were pausing for roughly 30 seconds for the ads to load before I could scroll.

-Speaking of which, I've been up to my elbows in themes editing/rebuilding at AC2 for about two weeks now, and it's probably the minimizing-top-of-the-page-space-wasted being my white whale talking, but I really hate the new ad placement here - the top of the page takes up --- oh, here's a screen of what I see while the page loads.

I know it's not going to be a priority while basic getting-things-working stuff attended to, but...

You pretty much summed up what my feelings about the ad placement were, too.

I get that you want people to see the ad, but surely there's a better place to put it than that. The current location just feels awkward and intrusive, like there's something that doesn't belong in the middle of the screen just staring at me or something.

btw, speed has been good for over a day now for me. no page loads longer than 4-5 seconds so far. most are 2-3 secs. just fyi. thanks.

Yep, all back to normal and possibly a bit faster! EDIT: Definitely faster than before!

Yeah it would work much better of it was between the CFC logo and Google Search button. I suppose it isn't for people on small screens, but non-mobile/tablet small screens are a thing of the past now. Even though the ad isn't showing up I still have a blank box for it.

CFC has had a bit of a problem with wasted screen space for years, finally getting AoG fixed is a huuuuuge improvement.

[shrugs] I practice what I preach. -Worked the default theme over since I posted here, since I'm messing with themes anyway.- Here's the top of the page in a thread in my Site forum. Look at how much content shows (though I'm planning to put in ads soon, which will more than double the top-space, admittedly.)

Lots more user-friendly, ain't it?

Putting the ads to the right of the logo is not going to work. It will make it too wide for some visitors. It's also pretty rare to see sites putting large ads on the same level as site logo.

In terms of vertical space, the current placement hasn't really added more vertical space until the content is shown.

...It's been a very long time since I touched that Google Search thing, years, but I believe it's been broken for a very long time.

It's appearing that the difference between the fast page loads I tend to get in the mornings here and the slow ones in the evenings is ad-load time; word to the wise...
