I thought Rat & Greebley would be in for C4AW game, and Romeo is welcome to a spot. I need to save the other spots because I'm pretty sure I know who will want them. [One is for Bugs :) ]
 So now I have to buy it! Good strategy Handy!

I'll most likely be back for Civ4 SG's too.

Pretty sure my last was LotR10 back in Jan 2004 :undecide:.
I've only played Civ3 a few times since then (the only game I currently play, RL is busy).

I'll test out Civ4 a couple times on my own, but it will be nice to be a noob again :D

I resisted buying C3C for a while, because I wasn't sure if it was anything more than just a few added civs for the pile from PTW. Essentially, it was, but once the SGs started moving that way, one has to follow or stop. I'll look at it, about the $$, and eventually buy it with Christmas money after the migration starts.

As with PTW, however, they are not exclusive, so I may look at both for a while.

I will buy Civ4. Someday I hope to step up and hang with the big dogs. ;)

I will have civ4 the day it comes out and hope to get back into succession games immediately. Hopefully there are people game to start out cold at Emperor around here. It sounds like it will be quite different but the basic principles of expand and manipulate the AI will be the same.

I know the first LK games will be at regent, and should start close to the date it comes out. Even that level will be a challenge until we start to understand the differences.

My first solo game of Civ3 was Chieftan and I struggled with that.

The real question is, will Civ4 AW be a game? WIll it be too easy or too hard?
No, the REAL question is, will there be other than AW games again when Civ 4 comes out? Because, frankly, now that I no longer play SGs but only read them, I'm quite bored with all the AW games going on. Great accomplishments, no doubt, but I'm really looking forward to other variants (or even non-variant games, imagine that!) coming back once Civ 4 is out.

Civ 4 will be different, so there will be a lot to learn for us again even if basic things like "fast growth = good" will be the same. So I think the game will be difficult enough so that Sid or AW won't be the only challenging things left to do for a LONG time. ;)

you know why we play (and enjoy) those games? Because we have beaten civ3 all the way to sid (and sid is really no fun to do more than a few times), we have done OCC even for DG and what not.
There are still some games other than AW, but we have basically done it all.

Once there is Civ4, there will be a host of games going on. After a while, we will learn how to beat the AI and difficulty will go up. It's just natural, isn't it?
What I fear is the fact that you guys will get Civ4 before I can get hold of it and by the time I want to join SG's, it will be difficult to catch up.

I don't think so. I don't know how much later you will be able to get Civ 4, but it will be a similar situation for me. Being German, and seeing the patch history for Civ 3 for foreign versions, I firmly intend to get an original US version of the game, which will make me a late-comer as well - which won't be a problem.

First, many others will get the game later as well, receiving it as a christmas gift for example. Second, getting a grasp of the main features of the game will happen fast, while finding out the more subtle tricks for beating higher levels of difficulty will take much longer, which means latecomers will catch up to the more experienced players fast. Third, seeing your join date and looking at what type of games you play now...do you really think you will have problems catching up?!? And fourth, at least I do intend to get a fair share of enjoyment out of the game by other means than SGs only; solitairy single games to learn the game at first, and tournaments like RBCiv later.

I'll try to get civ4 as soon as it will be possible. I don't know will i be playing civ3 after that or not, i have to actually see the game first. I'll definitely finish my current civ3 games though.

I think that experienced deity level players should start playing civ4 at about emperor level, i would propably play a single player game to learn the basic rules first and then i would join some SGs. I'll propably play civ4 gotm when it starts.

guys, thanks for the compliments, but you must keep in mind I played since Civ1 and followed SG's since spring04, I just thought at that time I am too useless to join them.
