SheepNES: The Dragon is Awake: MAIN THREAD

Russia would like to propose the following:

1. Sweden, Denmark, and Russia will agree to trade along the Baltic Sea. Russia will trade lumber and especially wheat and other foodstuffs for Swedish and Danish fish and cloth.

2. The area around Ingria will be open for trade to all Swedish, Danish, and Russian merchants.

3. Russia will limit its Baltic Sea fleet to no more than 8 squadrons of warships and will recognize the prerogatives of Sweden and Denmark in Baltic matters.

4. A royal marriage will be arranged for between the Danish and Russian royal houses.

5. The Karelian peninsula and the area of Ingermanland will be divided between the countries according to the following map.

OOC: Not sure at all how the two of you want to divide it, so I only put down where I felt the Russian border should be.

Quoted from previous page as I would still like a response from Sweden and Denmark.

Sheep, I have two questions about my stats:

I had calculated banking 5 IC, you have me at 2. What happened to the other 3?
How come my education is still at 50%?
"Education: spend 5 total, 1 to maintain and 4 to improve (+10%) new level = 60%"

Thanks

Crashing waves of surging surf
Have now washed clean Hawaii's turf
For the struggling few who there remain
Fear and hunger are your bain;
Holy Emperor of the Rising Sun
Knows just what needs be done,
With proclamation and speedy pursuit
A fleet is sent for your destitute
Bearing help and such relief
That will soon arrive outside your reef
And there upon Hawaiian soil
Japan will settle, labor and toil,
Gathering broken lives and farms
Into the embracing Emperor's arms.

We have embraced the pain of our fellow tsunami suffers and claim the wrecked remnants of Hawaii for Japan. Once we have rebuilt the port and support facilities, they will be open to all for transpacific stop over.

From: Papal States

For so long I have allowed this war, which was a bad mistake because of how much it expanded. But the recent invasion of Italy has gone too far. I will not allow this to my brothers. I Demand a withdrawl from Europe and reparations paid. If not I will not be afraid to excommunicate certain nations and kick their priests and cardinals out of the Church. And that is the last thing your people want.

We have people invading Italy at this very moment. We are brothers, we are all Italian, there should be no reason that we should remain separated and weaker to an Attack. Let Us Italians Unite to form the Kingdom of Italy and protect all Italians from outside invaders.

Oh wow, a bit less than a year to update, this means I can get tons of stories in.

From: Poland-Lithuania
To: Sweden and Friesland

With our colonies shoulder to shoulder, we suggest that we make an agreement as to where we can expand, thus avoiding potential skirmishes and border disputes, and therefor maintaining our alliances and friendly relations.

We suggest the following.

New Krakow Charter
1.) Poland-Lithuania, Sweden, and Friesland/the Holy Roman Empire will respect each others' colonial claims and establishments.
2.) The three parties will agree to a common border for their current colonies expansion. Future colonies that border will fall under this article should they come within proximity of each other.

For the borders, we suggest this...
Colonialboundaries.jpg

The borders will allow each colony to expand decently and will be updated as the colonies reach the edge of the border.

Do you agree to this?

I agree...

Fredrick The Explorer
Count Fredrick of Friesland is considered one of the main Colonists of the New World. Along with other nations, what is great about Fredrick's Colony of New Friesland is that one, it is larger than Friesland itself, while being less industrial it is still largely supportive of him. The second is that Friesland is but a County of the Holy Roman Empire: and that it has achieved such hights is almost unthinkable.

However, as more an more of his nobles traveled to the 'Bountiful Land ready to be farmed, Crops ready to be Harvested and Barrels of Produce to be Sold' the Court at home begun to shrink: more and mroe of his nobles are managing estates brought in the country while his people wonders what he does in the hall that is half empty. Fredrick often imagines the New World but refuses to go yet "Until a Large city of great importance in Trade and Industry Formes shall I then go to this New Land".

However, as his neighbors offered a border deal he found his chance, in the Conference of the Port of Amsterdam "My Fellow Colonizing Leaders, I offer to sign a Trade Pact between us, Friesland, Poland and Sweden. Our Colonies close together in land and in trade, together they will harvest the land." This idea, yet to be known accepted or not, started another boom in New Friesland: This time of the Trade in the Gulf of Fortitude. After one day seeing hundreds of ships leaving the Count finally Said, "May Christ be my Witness! I shall go to the New World!".

What he found there delighted him. Strong Wood, Roots of Sassafras, even the beginning of Tobacco, although he had denounced it: "This thing corrupts the lungs, heart, mind and Spirit", and had forbidden use in the Manor or his Palace he has no qualms in growing and selling it for profit,"Let the others hack with their Tobacco as we sit healthy on the gold!" he announced as he hired Tobacco Specialists to start it in the land. He also encouraged minor slavery saying:"They are heartans, they shall work and learn under a Godly man and if he trusts in god he shall be freed" Was what they thought he said when being asked of the Slaves from Benin.

Returning home he set up his map, "We shall encourage trade with the rest of the Empire" he muttered through his tea, "Expansion on Africa can ensure ourselves of land and Prisoners of war". Fredrick was 57 when he returned, yet the adventure of his life has not ended yet...

This is madness. There are so many better things we Europeans could be doing! Looks like this won't be done til the end of the decade. Great update though, Sheep. I wish I had gotten China!

Please, regard us as humble servants of the One True God and our Lord, but we are not the aggressors in this war. Do not take from us which was previously ours, it is an undeserved punishment to our most pious of kingdoms. Only in our defense have we fought, and been repeatedly betrayed. If anything, let us gift Italy to you, at the end of this war, when we have eliminated the most dishonorable Doge of former Venice and Europe becomes stable. Will you aid us in this fight, and tip God's favor even further to the side of righteousness?

The young King Fabricio I suggests that a marriage would be most satisfactory. He has yet to find a lovely lady to capture his heart. Perhaps one of royal English blood could do this? Of course this would ensure some sort of alliance, thought whether it be full or only minor is up to you, my lord.

If you really mean what you say we propose that you hand over your South American colony on the main land to the Incan Empire and not expand in the Americas any further. In return we'll allow you to trade with with us, the Aztec Empire and the Inca Empire. Also we shall recognize your Carribean Colony part of the Spanish Empire and lay no claim on it. We consider this a very generous offer as we are very well aware of your desperate situation in Europe.
About the New Barcelona incident: sooner or later it would have happened anyway. Let this be a lesson to all the foreign nations seeking their expansion in the pristine lands of the Americas.

To the Ming Emperor

China suffered not at all from the great tsunami that surged across Japan and destroyed Hawaii. It was our ships that delivered respite to survivors and comforted the broken spirit of a destroyed archaepeligo. It was the Japanese Emperor that develiered new hope and new people to those now forsaken isles.

It appears that the great Ming talks peace with one side of his mouth and cries war with the other as he threatens beaten down neighbors who have never offended him. Are you the peaceful benfactor of all Asia as you broadly boast or the oppressor of those weaker than you? You war against the Mongols and now threaten tiny Japan because they stepped in where you had not? What you had in Hawaii is gone. Destroyed by the hand of god.

You may beat your chest in indignation and in hope that our small nation will cower in fear of the might of China. But we will not cower. We know your strength and respect it. We have no interest in war, but are prepared to defend our nation to the last samurai should you turn against us and our peaceful ways.

If war is what you seek, you need no excuse of provocation. Send your ships and men and guns like you did in Mongolia and take what you desire. Let loose the wolves of fear and destruction, that you have already loosed upon the steppes, upon the rest of Asia and step out from behind the disguise of peacemanker that you have hidden behind low these many years and show your true face. If war is your answer to all things you cannot control, then I weep for your people who will suffer from your impoverished spirit and lack of wisdom, as I will weep for all Asia who will eventually suffer the same fate.

Before China ruled the Pacific waves, Hawaii was independent and a nation unto itself. Those same waves that China conquered in the last century have now taken Hawaii from your hands and placed them in our trust as brothers in our joint suffering under their same power.

Like the tides of the eternal ocean, the ebb and flow of nations across lands is part of kingship. As your armies flow north to seize the steppe lands of the Mongol peoples and the borders of the Incas spills over into the eastern jungles of the great river valley, so too is the lesser kingdom of Japan called forth by the sea itself to the islands of the great ocean that is its lifeblood.

China is a vast and powerful empire and like all such empires it is not still. It changes from within and from without as time moves the world forward. The wise king understands this about their nation and those wise kings accept the fresh beach of the ebb tides and the fullness and power of the high tides as important in keeping their people content and properous.

The wise king knows that prosperity comes with the understanding that opportunity rides the outgoing tides as well as the incoming ones and he also knows that sometimes doing nothing can be the most rewarding.

The Emperor of Japan seems to forget that Hawaii IS a part of the Ming Empire and that therefore we suffered much more than you did. We lost all our people to the terrible tsunami.
Therefore we see no reason why your claim on Hawaii should be valid. We trust on the great wisdom of the Japanese Shogun to let this issue rest.

The Mughal Empire urges calm on both side. Let cooler and wiser heads prevail. Are we petty firangi's to be bickering over some tiny Allah forsaken islands? Let the infidels of the West fight and bleed each other. Are we not more knowledgeable than those barbarians? Are we not superior to them in every way?

Our empire's have grown rich and prosperous with trade. Our cities brim with wealth, our great ships carry good from one corner of the world to another, our colonies grow and become fertile lands to send our people's. Would you both seek to have this ruined? Do you wish to see our trade wrecked, and our people become poor?

This is not the way for Asians to behave, our wisdom and knowledge brings light to the world. Let us not extinguish it with war.

We are actually offended how Russia didn't propose royal marriage with us but did so with Denmark.

We did so because Denmark specifically asked for one. We felt that it would be pretentious to assume that Sweden would wish to enter into such an agreement with Russia, but if Sweden is willing, we are sure that a royal marriage can be arranged.

Since Sweden and Denmark are already in royal marriage, we must discuss this ourselves (including the division of the lands). We will respond as soon as we get words from Danish king.

But also, we were wondering if Russia would be willing to give claims to Sweden the entire Ingermanland (not Karelia) for monetary sum.
