Minors are not, and should not be legally allowed to make that decision

legal or not, they do make that decision... They run away from home, from school, or they just zone out...sit in a chair and flunk, or get passed along.

mandatory schooling is fascistic... or socialist, or communistic, or... authoritarian.

Or whatever other economic or social policies with any negative connotations you can think of. It can be those too.

The people who conflate school and education in this thread crack me up.
so since you seem to dislike the word 'school', would you agree that getting an basic education (e.g. highschool level) should be mandatory?

But if we took away the government, people would just learn everything naturally right? You're getting predictable ;)

Of course, everyone would definitely pay money to be educated in Xarthaz land.

Nope, privatised industry is the best and we all need private police forces competing to catch criminals. No chance of corruption there.

Haven't you heard? There is no such thing as corruption without evil government and their regulations. If a government does it, its corruption, if a corporation does the exact same thing, it is capitalism. [/sarcasm] (for those who couldn't tell)

It should be mandatory up until 10th grade (age: 16)

After that, the student decides if he wants to finish his last two years of high school.
