Single Player bugs and crashes - After the 24th of February 2014

or, with other words: the "Giant Earth Map - No preset.CivBeyondSwordWBSave" and the "Giant Earth Map - Pre-Columbian Civs Pre 1500.CivBeyondSwordWBSave" are deliveren in the C2C v34 package. With more than 40 civs possible.

So someone may explain to me his settings, how he could play that maps fine.
Otherwise I don't understand why there are maps of 1.841 KB delivered (an not those of 1500) if they are not playable.

They have been removed from v35 for this very reason. They can't be played very far without running out of memory.

The message you quote indicates that the game is crashing in the exe which we do not have access to as it is a proprietary product that is not open for us to fix.

so, and what are the biggest map and the max civs possible working fine?
and from where I get it for C2C?

It really makes no fun to start a game and after some hundred turns it crashes.

With RoM there was a Great map that worked fine even on my old XP using, up to 2.9 GB RAM.

Also i keep getting SOME of these alot, and this one i got four times now on the SAME plot within 10 turns??

Whenever the city has stopped working the plot then starts working it again it'll unfreeze so it will ask you again on the next turn what you'd like to upgrade to. If this becomes too pervasive a problem I may need to add an option that perma-freezes the plot upgrade so that the ONLY way to upgrade it is to rework it with workers.

Ok I looked into this and I really need to run your savegame to see how it's actually calculating out. Please share the save on this.

Is this on the most recent SVN version though? We had a problem in v34 stock with some negative overall power calculations and it looks like that would be the culprit potentially. If on the most recent SVN though it's very strange and needs a much deeper look to see where something more fundamental is going wrong here.

I believe it is the current version, could be wrong :).

Save file is too big to attach. How should I send it?

Latest SVN just fixed up the Stone Tools on Peaks issue (or should've). There was also a disharmony between the Mountain Mine improvement prereq and the build prereq for the mountain mine builds that should be sorted out. I did NOT do a complete audit to make sure all units that can build mines can also build mountain mines so keep an eye out to make sure they can - I'd seen the majority of those I was looking through when updating for the stone tools builds did have mountain mine access so I think it's ok.

Latest SVN has a some of improvements that are now messed up??? Then it CRASHES

OK... I commented out some of those entries since they were 'obsolete' anyhow. There's obviously some other references still alive that I forgot to search for. Fix pending within the hour.

EDIT:Fixed

it can't be. At that time the total use of the game was not more than 2GB, and it should use up to 3GB

Also, IF this reached the max limit, then the question is how anyone of you all here ever could run a big map fine?

No, there must be another reason, and the Windows popup giives a hint, also the log files (i.e. for python), what is causing that it does not use the memory above 2GB

The minidump it made and that I attached was of 0 size (zero), it can't give any information. (another point causing confusion, why the minidump got not created well?

That was exactly the problem i had earlier this year once the game used 1.9GB-2GB it ran out of memory. That is why the minidup is empty, there was no more memory to generate it.
The current svn can get up to 2.5GB-2.6GB before this happens, this is only possible because some Civs where removed and Sparth cleand up all the Art files. I tried to load your save but it does not work because of the removed civs.

I come back to my crashing file, checked the logs:
There is
ERR: Out of VRAM - file:\main\Civilization4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\CoreLibs\NiDX9Renderer\NiDX9VBManager.cpp, line:1019

The system has 4GB dedicated VRam

So the crash is not because Memory (RAM) limit, but because not handling the VRam well.

Also, I found a Python exception error - unidentifiable C++ exception

Yes that is the exe which we have no access to. It is the graphics engine.

Week old SVN - Shinto Jingu was not giving Honour promotion as promised

Got an error on startup.

I ignored the above error three times before the game crashed. Never made it to the main menu. Currently using SVN 7612.

Dragon Ship Pirates can explore the ocean before you invent Astronomy.

(Picture's worth a thousand words)

Edit: Apparently this goes for Caravels as well. Is this intended`?

I think the answer is yes it is intended. IIRC There has always been a period where exploration ships can enter oceans before the rest can in RoM based games.
