where can i find the bombard reduction variable. in which file is it? or is it the collateral damage max in the game data option.

Yes its repeatable attached . .

Ok... rather complex issue but I think I've figured out what change would've caused it. WHY it causes it I'm not entirely sure but the good news is there's an alternative way to go about it so I'll implement that as soon as I can here. Not entirely sure it would keep the crash from taking place now though so I'm also trying to figure out a safe workaround to keep the game running smooth. So it's again... a bit complex and will take a little more time to sort out properly.

Good news is I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with another crash I was attempting to debug that I couldn't figure out at the time.

Just had another CTD on a totally NEW game, was only 37 turns in??

Second mini is also a different CTD of a different game, so unless you figure out what is going on here TB, looks like ALL games are borked:blush:

In the game it's the BUG options (little green Bug head upper right). You can set both bombard and city defense levels there, if I'm following your discussion right. I lowered mine to 50 and 60 (iirc) as the default 75 imho is too high.

Cities have way too much defense now in early C2C again impo. I see it as an imbalance when a city can provide 200+ defense to the defenders inside. I've got cities in the Ren Era with 450+ City defense. Again impo I think that no Preh thru Class Era Cities defense modifiers should ever be allowed above 100% thru game play and tech bonuses. But that's just my opnion as T-brd does not agree.

I've started games as Deity and Noble, randomly selecting and manually selecting my civ and I still get the lizard instead of stone thrower. This after a fresh install of everything. I went into wb and changed my lizard into a wanderer and have played 40+ turns. A couple of strange things are going on that I've noticed.
1. Not one animal has attacked me even though my wanderer has been next to Bears, Bengal Tigers, Vipers, Pigs, and Eagles.
2. My wanderer got the Leadership Promo (the random champion thing) and I haven't even finished researching Language yet, let alone Cooperation. I don't recall that ever happening before.

Same thing i just noticed also, no attacking (and now i have 2 scouts that cant do anything, being trapped on ALL sides, cant move:mad:) and now its not fun if animals dont attack :(. .and got the leadership also for the hunter i had, only 78 turns in game . . ??

plus i am in early early PreH and i have gotten 4 Great Generals now, and NO Great Hunters, even tough i was supposed to get one in 5 attacks??

Another thing I am noticing with my wanderer is when he needs to heal and I put him on sentry until healed, he can be surrounded by animals and it doesn't alert him. Almost like we are neutral towards each other except that I can kill them if I want to.

Bombard defense can build to a major problem if the max is set too high (and why it's GETTING that high is beyond my understanding of how the buildings were made so powerful so early. That seems patently out of balance imo. Surely a wonder or two have something to do with that.)

Otherwise % modifier does nothing but insists that you bring siege/rams. That's it. Minimum defense could get too high but I don't think it is set to be able to be too impressive early on.

I probably wouldn't set % modifiers to get so high early on but I didn't establish the defensive modifiers on buildings and don't have it on the radar to revisit and review.

It's possible something went wrong with that. I'll need to take a deeper look at that sort of scenario.

That suggests that you are not using hunters to kill animals but some other unit. The type of GG you get depends on what is doing the kill hunter and recon (land and sea) give points towards a Great Hunter, non hunter/recon land units give points towards a Great General and non-recon ships give points towards a Great Admiral. Air units give points towards a Great Wing Commander/Ace Pilot or whatever we called it. Not sure what spaceship combat give points towards.

OK i had 1 unit that was NOT a Hunter or scout, all others were. Then i have a question on that, it said that i was supposed to get a Great Hunter in 5 attack turns, and a Great General in 50 turns, but i got the Great General instead in the next 5 turn attacks from a Hunter???

also TB look back at 117 post, thx . .

Yes its repeatable attached . .

EDIT: OK reverted back to 8818, and it went to the next turn??

Thanks for the edit note. While even stranger still, it does point towards what the real problem might be. And it's not what my going theory was so that's very helpful.

Didn't think we had Air Commanders yet...

It's possible you're misreading the numbers. The higher value of specified types is likely the next one you'll get.

Can confirm neither wild animals or barbs are attacking with SVN 8822.

I am playing C2C using the SVN 8822, and got a crash to desktop.
The save file is included.
Info : the settler makes a city at the current location, near the tin resource.
Als the mini dump included.

I hope i can continue the game .

EDIT: OK reverted back to 8818, and it went to the next turn??

I figure that resolving this bug probably means the vast majority of other crashes noted are also resolved. I got a little overzealous with some changes when I was trying to work out a solution to a problem and once I had actually figured out the solution I didn't realize that the earlier adjustments would cause trouble. This gave me an opportunity to review the last effort and I found a few other quirks.

This debug effort goes to show that sometimes it's not easy trying to solve a problem from a crash save or a minidump. I never did figure out exactly what the problem was but acting on suspicions based on your comment here I was able to remove a number of 'potential' offenders and that created the fix. Further testing shows everything I was trying to achieve still works as well. Sorry it took a while but mid-week it's tough to get enough true concentration to address major bugs like these.

Anyhow, the next update fixes THIS crash. From here I'll have to test the rest reported. The version you reverted to had another common crash issue that was solved after so you'd probably have had some trouble there as well. Just in different spots.

Anyhow... commit is on its way. Stress test away. Pretty sure it will run fine now.

With the newest version, I was able to settle without a crash.

I get a repeatable ctd when I finish my turn.

Current revision solves the crash - and this save also shows it solves the issue with animals not attacking which I suspected it would. For that reason the turn takes a while as suddenly many animals attack. Not all do because its random whether they will choose to or not.
