Single Player bugs and crashes v38 plus (SVN) - After the 20th of February 2018

In Long GS game after SVN 10368 update Turns are avg. 6 minutes and 20 secs on my i7 2600k cpu. But I don't have to Manually save every turn now. I can go 3 full turns before I save as a precautionary measure. Because 3 turns is taking ~ 1 hour and 20 minutes to get thru.

I updated my Blitz game from before Christmas, 6 AI large C2C_World map low sea levels. The Re-Calc took 4:40. Game turns are averaging 2:30 +/- 5 sec. I am in the Ren era with at least 1 AI in the late Modern. I have 35 cities and lead in that category. Am 2nd in the power list now. Found a large/long thin northern continent with very good southern coast line and have plopped 6 new cities there.

This one is letting me see how some of the next level Civics will need to be adjusted. And how some categories will even need their early Civics tweaked some more.

I can't upgrade my Wanderer. Reason is that I cannot build either upgrade, the Chaser or the Scout, as I have built the Neanderthal Culture Wonder and therefore only the Neanderthal versions of Chaser or Scout are available and I cannot upgrade my Wanderer to these. So I think that either the standard versions of the units should be available even if I have Neanderthalers, or the Wanderer should also be possible to upgrade to Neanderthal Chaser or Scout.

Added: Same thing is true - not unexpected - for the Tracker who cannot upgrade to anything at this time.

I got the Harbourmaster quest. They want me to build 12 Ports and 7 Caravels. I've got my total of Ports to 12, and I've got more than 7 Caravels. I already had Sloops when I got the quest, so I can't build Caravels any more. And many of my coastal cities (of size 13+) don't have the option to build Ports for some reason.

Is it just bugged or is there something more I have to do?

While on the subject of quests, does anyone know if the quest(s) requiring you to acquire Dye as if it's a map resource have been fixed?

Maybe another player completed it before you...

Maybe you have invented any of the techs that obsoletes the completion of the quest...
Here's a list:

<ObsoleteTechs>
<ObsoleteTech>TECH_METALLURGY</ObsoleteTech>
<ObsoleteTech>TECH_STEAM_POWER</ObsoleteTech>
<ObsoleteTech>TECH_STEEL</ObsoleteTech>
<ObsoleteTech>TECH_SCIENTIFIC_METHOD</ObsoleteTech>
<ObsoleteTech>TECH_ARTILLERY</ObsoleteTech>
</ObsoleteTechs>

Yes, thank you, Metallurgy would explain it. I had that already before the quest was assigned (it's required for the Sloop).

It's still a bug, though, because you're meant to have until Industrial to complete it (all those other techs look like 1st column Industrial), whereas Metallurgy is first or second column Renaissance now.

Also, if the quest is failed, I'd appreciate it telling me and removing itself from my quest log. Come to think of it, why assign itself to me when it's already obsolete?

I suspected as much, I'll look into improving the quest parameters, make it more reasonable..

Making it tell you when it obsoletes is not possible without some grand dll coding project that won't happen soon, sorry.

Buglist:

Wonder popups:
- Cyrus cylinder has a "movie needed" error message
-Palace of Beolien has a wrong movie
-Human rights declaration, Capitol records tower, Gardens by the bay, Proetmoic encyclopedia: the popup window is empty.
The Cyrus Cylinder and others have a movie. It is what you see. If it did not have one then you could not complain about the "movie needed" message.
I can remove movie tags from those 6 wonders.
Wrong response especially for the first:lol:.

A movie is needed only the static version was done. The static one is the one that should be displayed. If any change is needed then it is the removal of the text from the image not the removal of the movie. At the time these were being added we were doing both a static picture and movie for the wonder. There is even a SVN with all the movies in it that can be down loaded to replace the static movies that come with the base game. It was done this way because the movies don't change as much as the main SVN and they are large. I thought I had asked SO to add a link to the SVN in the main down load forum page. Maybe not.

IMO a wonder is not complete if it has neither a static picture for a movie or a movie. The person who put it in was just too lazy or rushed at the time. Making the static movie is almost trivial and should be done.

I fixed those instead :D
There were typos here: sometimes path was "wnder", sometimes file was named "woder", and sometimes movie tag was "wondr", where "wonder" would be correct for example.
There are paths pointing in wrong place, where are no movie files.
As for Cyrus cylinder there was static movie without "movie needed" text in it, i used that version instead.

If the enemy is in friendly territory, but not yours, even a vassal's, then you can't Ranged Assault him. This is a bug from the initial implementation of Ranged Assault 3-4 years ago.

@Toffer90,

Bug? Long and Epic Game Speeds have the same value for <iTraitGainPercent>1200</iTraitGainPercent>. Normal has 400 and Marathon has 1600.

Yep, there is bug, I'll fix it.

And fix is now committed.

See General discussion thread for another possible bug(s).

Raxo already fixed it.
What are you changing in the gamespeed?
sorry - I was wrong - it was erainfos. The tech to turn ratio kept dropping severely ingame so trying some new numbers there again.

That is important adjustments, I haven't had time enough to look at the problem of tech cost by era myself as it requires a lot of game time to evaluate the scale of the issue.

Goal on Epic as you stated it is 6 turns per tech. We were seeing 1 and 2 once reaching the late Ren Era. She's probably doing better at that stage than an 'average' expectable result but it's still quite severely off target. That was after previous adjustments to improve things. After this latest adjustment it went back up to 3 per turn so is certainly not overcompensating on her game.

DH has stated, and I agree, that even hitting ancient you start falling behind in construction vs tech rates and the construction rate per era is already now flattened out so I don't want to go into the negatives on that. All games I've seen suggest this is the right way to adjust things but I'm always open to feedback from active in-game experiences. Prehistoric is about right on so the rest is all just adjusting for progress.

Should Cutthroats be able to kill ships in port?
