Single Player bugs and crashes v39 plus (SVN) - After the 20th of July 2019

Here you go...
Oh you are playing on Pit's map.
No wonder you can expand and get gold so much.

AIs can't play like that now - that is they aren't trying to conquer each other just like you conquer everyone.

For players like you all forms of maintenance except for buildings could be safely multiplied 2 if not 3 times.
Spoiler :

Also you are 2x too fast in relation to calendar.

Worker's counter goes down normally here.

It must be where BTS is installed\Mods

That is: <Game installation folder>\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos
@Toffer90
is this true (raxo's answers are not filling me with confidence right now eg. cleanup I take it was a waste of time)?

Is there any way around it?

Does this require a reinstall of Steam, or the purchase of a non-Steam copy of BtS (ie. because the paths are too long)?

Well I didn't knew you had mod installed in "wrong" place.
There is no need to reinstall steam or buy nonsteam version.

By default game is here: Steam\steamapps\common\[game name], so mod should be in Steam\steamapps\common\[game name]\Beyond the Sword\Mods\ according to steam guide.

Ok , which files have i to edit to do that :
For players like you all forms of maintenance except for buildings could be safely multiplied 2 if not 3 times.

And to make it ,so " Add to tale " don`t scale with gamespeed.
Please ,just tell meand i will do the edit.

Edit : Because STEAM Installation : It is :\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos

Edit 2 : From Pits Thread :
Play this scenario in eternity speed, otherwise you will get technologys to fast in later game when you manage to grow big.

In handicaps (gameinfo folder) there is set of maintenance related tags.
Code:
            <iMaxNumCitiesMaintenance>40</iMaxNumCitiesMaintenance>
            <iMaxColonyMaintenance>80</iMaxColonyMaintenance>
            <iDistanceMaintenancePercent>40</iDistanceMaintenancePercent>
            <iNumCitiesMaintenancePercent>40</iNumCitiesMaintenancePercent>
            <iColonyMaintenancePercent>40</iColonyMaintenancePercent>
            <iCorporationMaintenancePercent>40</iCorporationMaintenancePercent>
            <iCivicUpkeepPercent>40</iCivicUpkeepPercent>

Find your handicap here, and double or even triple these.

As for tale rewards they are scaled somewhere in code.

As for Pit scenario you need to double tech cost global or at least try my upscaled research costs.
You still get techs way too fast.

What makes Pit's scenario need all this that isn't being addressed in the usual scaling? I'm not so sure it's not a clue that we have more work to do on the scaling factors in general.

So that's why I can no longer find it.

Well then the slower GS just get big bonuses from tale rewards, while using the faster GS they basically mean nothing. +1 :culture:

This map is 2x current Gigantic size.
Also its way too easy to outcompete AI - conquer barbarian cities, then nearby AIs one by one.
Doubling or tripling maintenance cost for players would slow down player expansion.
This also means excessive tech rate.

So that's why I can no longer find it.

Apparently I was partially wrong - its in Subdue_Animals_CIV4UnitCombatInfos.xml in xml/units.
That adatpt_default probably is gamespeed scale factor used here.
I could delete those rescaling tags.

But @JosEPh_II have you seen what Pit wrote in his recommandation ?
It is the opposite of that what you suggest!!
It was blunt way to adjust to fact, that conquering all those cities means extreme research rate.
You could play on Marathon and just double research cost global when playing on those scenarios or something..

Taylor realize that a scenario is altered Mod gameplay! The author of a scenario likes to play the way it is so of course he touts it as Great. It is great If you want to play under the author's set of rules. But does that make the scenario play reflect the normal way the mod plays? No it does not.

And Taylor I've played Pit's scenario. I am familiar with it.

So,i will start again, but Pit said play at EON speed.
So i choose EON and the 40% higher research cost and delete those reward scaling and do not conquer my neighboors,i promise.
Even i had over 100 hours in that game,i will try...

Edit: yeah, sorry JosEPH .Here in Germany it was a very hot day and i may have overreact.

Or you continue to play Knowing that scaling is "different" than normal C2C play. The choice is yours to make.

EDIT: You Did make the choice to play a scenario instead of a regular game of C2C.

If I were you I would have a talk with DH Before you mess with his stuff! Careful raxo you are treading dangerous ground hacking other modders work. Show some respect and do it the right way by having proper conversation with the author of the work in question.

Yeah, I wanted to ask @Dancing Hoskuld if I can remove this scaling - it was like this since 2016 or even earlier.
DH, what do you think about removal of game speed reward scaling in Subdue_Animals_CIV4UnitCombatInfos?
That is you wouldn't get more :culture::science::gold: from animal tales/animal combat.

I just don`t use it.
Taylor to get a good idea of how the Mod plays start a Game on Epic with a Large map and the default # of AI. This will get your feet set on solid game play footing. Then after that game is done play what ever settings you want.
