SKNES: Architecture of Aggression

Uh. And I thought I would be able to get into Central Europe somehow this turn. Sorry I didn't make orders/national description - I'm currently in Croatia, so I don't have dependable internet access nor the time to get anything whole down in print.

When I get home, I'll see if I'm able to make something happen here.

The Pope sat in his chair. He was an old man, yet even while his face was filled with wrinkles of old age, his displeasure could be seen.
"So the Frank king who requested I will crown him emperor sent nothing?"
"No my father, only the lord of Aquitane send very few forces that were easily annihilated."
"Are the Franks fools? Have they not heard god has called them to war? What of Venice?"
"The Venetians have had some hard time fighting, but have given all of their support to the call."
"I am glad. Yet I wonder. What do these kings and rulers think of me? Am I suppose to lead an army and fight? I am the vessel to god, not a general in the field. So many forces have joined us, yet they have no nation to truly call home."
"Naples have been a successful upstart"
"Yes they have. They understood the need for a kingdom, for the Pope is not here to rule lands, but only to speak and pray to god, and bring his words from heaven to the people. Send a message to the Frank king. I expect him to answer the call of the crusade, otherwise I am afraid god's punishment will be most unpleasing. Also send to the Vene...."
The Pope's head suddenly fell. One of the Bishops rushed to his chair and checked his breathing. The Pope was dead.

from the Papacy:
to Venice:
The Pope in his wisdom have declared your state most holy. You aid to the crusade have been grand, yet more is needed. The Pope could not lead armies the battle, and so he will assign the Venetian ruler as the head of the crusading armies. The lands the crusading forces currently occupy will be granted to you, as well as the entire crusading force. Please maintain the army and continued to march on to Byzantium.
Other than that await another message from the Papacy soon.

to the king of the Franks:
You lack of faith have angered god and the Pope saw fitting to punish you. Rather than pay your tithes to the Pope or help the crusade you chose to care for your own Palace. The Pope demanded you will pay Venice for the money they require to upkeep the crusading armies, you will declare about the crusade in your lands and join the crusade as well, under the leadership of the Venetians and you will not be excused of paying the tithes to the Holy See. Refusal to do the god's bidding will be punished dearly.

to lord of Aquitaine:
You help was welcome, but was far from enough. The Holy See wished you will discuss with Venice who have been put as leaders of the crusading army. Byzantium must fall within the next 10 years or the crusade will be declared a failure, and god's punishment will quickly come afterwards.

to Savoy:
The Pope understood your wish to be "different" yet you can clearly see your people do not see it in the same eyes. Join the catholic path, the true path to happiness and to a future in the afterlife.

to Naples and other small city states:
The command over the crusading army has been given to Venice. Please discuss with them for further movement of the crusade. We must win in the name of Christ!

ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL CATHOLIC NATIONS:
After giving his last words the Pope have fallen from grace and have joined our lord and savior in the heavens. A new Pope will be voted upon by the Papal Conclave soon. All Bishops of all states must come - The Aquitine, Frank, Venetian, Naples, 3 Italian City states. The bishops of Rome await your arrival with your votes. The possibilites are:
Roman Contender Bishop Paul
Venetian Contender Bishop Benedict
Aquitine Contender Bishop Marcus
Pisan Contender Bishop Alex
All catholic nations can send their support for a contender. Please be quick. Remember that the passing Pope orders are not to be changed for they are a decree by god (that's for you Frank King, naughty naughty you).

to Greece:
Christ will have brothers who follow his words fight side by side. Will you join the crusading armies?

Stats and map fixed.

NPC Diplo:

2: The Orthodox Church is allowed to re-establish itself in Constantinople, without being hassled in any way by the Emperor.
3: The Emperor's court must be in Angora for at least six months a year.

The Romans are right in what they are doing! They are returning to the great old gods! What do you think happened to the Christian ( :yuck: ) Western Romans? Eprius will not tolerate a Holy War to dismantle the righteous Eastern Roman Empire!

To: Catavalu
From: Brythonia

We would gladly to join in an alliance with our brethren in Britannia. The Germans need to be removed.

To: The Pope, the Emperor of the Romans, and the Kings of Sicily, Greece and Angora
From: King Moszes the Snake, of Armenia
We request official acknowledgement from your states that Yerevan is now the home of the Orthodox Church. If not accepted, we will continue to act as if it were so anyway. Both I, and the Patriarch, await your answers.

To: King Moszes The Snake of Armenia
From: King Alexandros Valerius of Sicily

Forgive me if I do not remember well, but was it not your old king who stated that perhaps our faith should become more localized? Perhaps the death of the old Patriarch was a sign, that each country should focus on its own church, rather than placing one above equals.

To all Catholic nations
In three days I will start a Council of War. Iwill formally invite you soon
OOC: making the social group for it in a couple days and Iwill send out invites Friday.

I'm fine with that concept as well. I just do not wish splintering that leads to war. I'm saying this for anyone one who will only accept a single Patriarch, and not multiple locally. If that made sense.

To:Epirus
From:Emperor Izaak of the Byzantine Empire

I am glad you are finally joining your pagan brothers in this struggle. Should we lose, you will once again be surrounded by intolerant fools who are bent on destroying all who do not believe as they. It is not an option for us to fail in driving these people out.

To:Armenia
From: Emperor Isaak of Byzantium

Not exactly my business to be getting involved in monotheistic matters.

To:Angora
From: Emperor Isaak of Byzantium

Not sure what the third point in your treaty is for. Perhaps if you clarified what the reasoning for that would be, I would be more apt to sign it.

Southerking: I'll have to ask that you NPC me this turn, I won't be able to get orders in due to an overwhelming next two weeks.

Chief Boris I of Warsaw became the first King of all Poland after successfully leading the Avar war. The Avars were ancient enemies of Poland and once frightened the city states greatly. Now their chiefs surrendered to Polish army, forced between us and an even stronger horde from the East. Poland now had two major city states, Warsaw and Gdansk. The victory agains the Avars had brought the cities together, and Boris was unanimously elected to modernize Poland. And much modernization was needed. There was no good road between the city states, and the problem this caused became painfully clear when Warsaw's army reached the Avar border a week before that of Gdansk. The dellay proved harmless as the Avars were to weak to resist anyway, but things may not go so well next time.

Another problem that Boris took on was religion. Temples were needed to maintain a link to the gods and the ancestors. Thus Boris ordered the construction of a temple to Dievas, the great creator, in Warsaw, in order to unite the Polish faith and ensure that the gods and ancestors are satisfied...

This was just part of what would be an era of peace and modernization for Poland. Would it last?

To Kingdom of Novgorod: Our nations are similar to one another in many ways, so I believe it would be beneficial for us to open our borders to trade.
To Tatars: We shared a common enemy and received a common victory. Now let us open our borders to trade, so peace remains between our great people.

Ah an active Polish Player :D

To The Polish King
From The Khan of the Tatars

We have no desire to take your lands. Let peace and prosperity be the bond of our two peoples.

from Popy
to Armenia:
Why do you require my approval? Heretic ways remain that way even if they are better than all of the Heathens and Pagans.

To: Byzantium
From: Angora

What we mean is that the Emperor's court must reside in Angora, not Constantinople, for at least six months total, every year.

Deadline is now Saturday, April 7, to give players some more time.

Why would that matter?

OOC: Anatolia is majority Orthodox,Macedonia/Thrace is majority Hellenic at this point.

To: Byzantium
From: Angora

We have another reason for wanting the court in Angora; we want help fighting Muslims, and Anatolia is closer.

To:Angora
From:Byzantium

To your first two points, I can concede, but there is no reason why I cannot send help to fight the muslims from my ancestral court in Byzantium. There is simply no reason to your third point, and I have been councilled that even condeding the first 2 points of your treaty is being too generous by far. Please consider this a victory, and concede the third point so that we can bring peace to anatolia before it's overrun by those who would strike at us while we're divided.
