Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

Speaking of dragons, I think it's nice not to advance the main quest far enough to where they show up. That way I can do all the side quests in peace without being bothered by dragons. I hate being bothered by dragons when I'm just wanting to explore the countryside. As a melee heavy character, it takes sometimes 10 minutes to track the thing down so it won't keep flying away and then take him down. Waste of time.

The downside is you can't get any shouts. But I almost always forget to use them anyways.

Usually you can just ignore random dragons. Run away, they won't follow you.

I like it when you're fighting a dragon on a tower and its gets stuck on the level geometry, so you both regenerate half your damage waiting for it to get unstuck.

Not really. The trailer was underwhelming. I was expecting something more original and innovative rather than a typical RPG, vampire bad guys versus Dawnguard vampire killing good guys.

I want to explore other parts of Tamriel. They have a rich backstory full of lore and there are many subplots that could be explored within Skyrim's timeframe. I hope that this is just the first of a few expansion packs and we will see more of that in the future.

This is a screenshot i haven't seen until today;

Yeah there's perk trees for Vamps and werewolves in Dawnguard. G4 preview. Vamp Lord sound pretty slick- new spells and badassery. Completely different style than vanilla vamps but at least they aren't so underwhelming.

Yeah I feel you, if it weren't for the fact that Skyrim is so addicting the trailer wouldn't have gotten my fancy. The other regions sound really cool too, I'm hoping TES Online doesn't replace proper single player stuff. I have read that Zenimax trademarked "Hearthfire" recently which sounds like another expansion.

I approve of TES Online, but as a different thing, separate from the series to rope people in.

You would think that one of these days, the dev's will get their act together and make some new undead models for non-human races. Seriously, where are the Khajiit/Argonian skeletons and zombies?

How hard could that seriously be?

Why would there be Khajiit and Argonian undead in the Nord burial tombs?

I dunno, adventurers? Are you saying you've never encountered an undead enemy outside of a Nord tomb?

I don't recall many of them, no, but to be fair I only played Skyrim for about 2 weeks before getting bored with it and moving on. Nowadays I pretty much get my TES fix exclusively from Morrowind.

On a related note, Gamestop decided to announce the new expansion along with THREE arrow to the knee jokes.

THREE.

Seriously, I felt like I was going to vomit.

I just want this work day to finish so I can start playing this game. It's going to be tough juggling skyrim, Civ:gods and kings, my GF, my friends, my family, eating, sleeping, using bathroom, etc.

Don't forget the new material for ME3 and CK II out today as well. :D

I went home on my lunch break to drop off my brother and sister, and I couldn't help but to download it, and initiate the first Dawnguard mission. I saved it there, and I left to go back to work till 5 PM.

What is Dawnguard? DLC or expansion?

I'm bumping this thread because I noticed I no longer have 100% of the achievements. I now have 50 out of 60. I don't see which ones I'm missing, I'm guessing they added some for DLC or expansion.

I really like having 100% of the achievements in Skyrim (and FNV), but I'm not the biggest Skyrim fan. I have 139 hours played. It was fun, but I really don't think Bethesda makes as good as rpg's as Obsidian (don't know about dungeon siege 3- the originals were too hack and slash for my tastes). I may eventually play Skyrim again, when it's still not too fresh in my memory.

They added the DLC "achievements" to Steam today, and Dawnguard is a DLC 'expansion' with a few gameplay improvements for Vampires, Werewolves, adds crossbows among other things and has its own plotline. Everything I've heard about its plotline though has been rather mediocre and not really worth the $20 they are asking for it.

EDIT: Checked again and it is available for sale on the PC. PS3 version is still being worked on to make it run acceptably. I really don't see anything in or about Dawnguard to make it worth $20 though (especially since I paid less than $30 for Skyrim...).
