Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

I may be too demanding or simply don't know what I want (most possible), but I find them "random encounters" too forced and most scripted thing in the game :/ They don't feel natural at all and quite frankly ruin it for me, I walk on the path and know that "damn, the 'random event' is happening on the other side of the river sigh*, better get across, maybe something worthwhile". Makes my exploration and wandering around anything but freeroaming, as I try to hit the spots. Don't want to hit them "partly", it happening somewhere 100m away without me, especially if it's a fight I'm supposed to intervene or something. You'd think that on the contrary it creates an illusion of world not revolving around me, but it just doesn't :( and instead plain annoying.
I'd like it much better if they just happened in certain solid locations, like forts, camps, etc, also unmapped camps (there are plenty) with less random (as it is already, there seems to be only certain few events in every spot changing). That way I could roam freely without thinking about it too much (I think... if that makes sense at all), I would just hit them same as I do with other "dungeons" (forts, caves, ruins etc.). But I probably just sound ridiculous...

BTW hate that Imperials with stormcloak prisoner, most useless event ever.

Oh and unrelated, but really started to appreciate CFC with its rules, moderators... Was spending some time on nexus forums, because playing Skyrim and all. Just got banned from Nexus for using the word "rape" and basically asking too much questions. Just started new game with Dawnguard and was making a post about it...

"Master Vampire" appeared in Riverwood when I was level 7, just started the game basically. So I was wondering there if it was normal with Dawnguard that a "master vamp" appears out of nowhere when you're level 7 and unsurprisingly basically rapes you, you being such low level... Anyway one guy didn't like me using the term, next thing a warning from Admin or whoever he is. Saying next there will be issued strike one. Ok, I asked if it was because someone simply disliked it or what? A bit odd it being against the rules, but whatever. And most importantly, what happens if someone dislikes my username? Got a serious threatening toned response, something about "someone already disliking my username and it happens to be a staff member" (guess who  )...
Anyway when I asked if this was a threat, next thing I'm banned.
Ok, mister "Vampire Dante", you sure showed me! Guess no strikes for me.

Thanks heavens we don't have such unreasonable childish mods here :)

Just because there's something worse doesn't mean there's nothing better.

Most random encounters feel like easter eggs to me, but fortunately I like Morrowind.

The mods on the Nexus forums are pretty notorious for being tyrants from what I remember. Dare to question them, even politely, at your own peril.

I haven't played Dawnguard (haven't actually touched Skyrim since a few weeks after it launched) but I'm reasonably certain master vampires appearing at level 7 is not intended, no. Even without playing it I think it's safe to assume that Dawnguard is riddled with just as many release bugs as every other game Bethesda has ever released. Even my beloved Morrowind had a TON of bugs on release, from exploits that let you break the game, to quests that break unexpectedly if you do something in the wrong order, all kinds of wacky crap. This has happened in every Bethesda game I've ever bought; Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim. Most of this never gets fixed by Bethesda, instead being dealt with by community patches, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a lot of official updates resolving these issues.

I like the bug that lets you steal all the Limeware right under Ergalla's nose.

I think I'm going to wait for the Game of the Year Edition or Complete Edition or whatever to play Dawnguard. I don't need the glitches and headache it sounds like it makes, and I don't really like putting my PS3 on the network, especially to download something that's as big as some whole games. I'm still having fun with radiant quests and just walking around as the Archmage of Winterhold - I was careful to create a character I really liked. The only thing I might miss is the chance to change one or two things about her face slightly.

It's weird how my RSS feed is full of news today about Skyrim and Bethesda registering the trademark "Hearthfire" and speculation that it is the next DLC, when we've known this since May.

Interesting. Seems like Hearthfire is going to add some necromancy stuff.

Why is everyone jumping to the conclusion that Hearthfire is going to be necromantic when Tales and Tallows or any of the other Daggerfall holidays and summoning days haven't been mentioned anywhere in the past three games?

Probably because the majority of people playing TES don't delve into the lore that deeply and don't know what any of that stuff is. :p

It took me about 5 minutes to figure it out that it probably won't be about necromancy.

I've had enough with the vampires, thank you, I don't want any more necromancy :p

Good news everyone, the DLC is for zombie and skeleton dragons.

Err, I would sincerely hope it's not about necromancy. They just did that schtick for the mages guild quests in Oblivion. If they can't even wait one full game before ripping off ideas from their past works then the writers at Bethesda are in even worse shape than I imagined.

Question to those with Dawnguard - is playing the good guys at least half as rewarding as playing as the bad guys? I always prefer to play the good questlines, because, well, my character's a goody-two-shoes, but it always seems in the Elder Scrolls that the good guys (like the Mages Guild) have crappy questlines compared to the bad guys (like the Dark Brotherhood, and I really don't understand all the love for them). I'll still buy Dawnguard eventually, but I want to know whether it'd be better to wait until it's on a really cheap sale or something.

You make it sound like Oblivion came out only a few years ago, as opposed to six years ago.

Regardless of time, it was the ES game immediately preceding this one. If they have so few story ideas that they have to mine the last game in the series they released, then they should probably pack it in.

Maybe ES 6 will have a totally original storyline involving dragons coming back!
