Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V

I said from the beginning Dawnguard looked poor and it seems I was right. I think I'll be waiting for a sale to buy this generic looking add-on. Is there a new part of the world available to explore?

Finally on the PC. I will probably still buy it, I loved Skyrim but got a little bored after around 120 hours or so. (Still have not finished main quest line!)

lolwut?

1) You loved the game
2) You aren't even done with the MQ
3) You're bored with it

What's goin' on? Did you not like the main quest line?

It looks like the locations it adds are in the Oblivion or something. ಠ_ಠ NO!

New gear is always fun, although gear variety has never been the series's strong point. Never been a fan of werewolf of vampire stuff in games. Elder Scrolls, and Skyrim, has always been more about locations and exploration. And Dawnguard doesn't seem to hit much in this area. Might be worth 5$.

I, personally, got bored of it around level 20 or so. You can only do so much of the same dungeon with a slightly different layout.

I'm pretty sure the two mods I have installed for gear (immersive armours and Jaysus Swords) already far surpass anything Dawnbreaker ads. As for the main quest, those aren't usually the strong points in Bethesda games (Morrowind's wasn't and though, but I never finished Oblivion's). 60 hours into Skyrim I still haven't gotten very far in the MQ either. It isn't terribly interesting, so far I just did it to get more shouts.

There is also apparently some civil war supposedly going on, not that I've noticed any fighting, just a bunch of people complaining about each other and sitting around camps in the middle of bloody nowhere.

Ha yeah the civil war stuff is not pronounced at all unless you are actually doing their missions. Considering the nords are supposed to be these fierce warriors their idea of a civil war is awfully... civil. Lots of dudes complaining and talking a big game but very few actually doing any violence.

Not really interested in going back to Skyrim to play Dawnguard, even if they did finally see fit to reintroduce crossbows, which I've been sorely missing since they were removed in Oblivion.

Edit: Although I must say the new vampire lord stuff sounds pretty cool, if this game had more interesting quests that didn't put me to sleep that might have been enough to tempt me back in.

I'm still hoping we see an expansion of the same caliber as Shivering Isles.

It was OK, I am more into getting the best possible gear, leveling up as much as I can, smithing everything to max levels, enchanting everything to the max, and doing all the side quests/guild quest-lines, which I did most of. Once I became an Uber-powerful dragon scale armored super mage-warrior fitted out with max enchanted gear, I kind of lost interest. It was the same in Oblivion; I finished all the guild quests and every side quest in my quest list, then came back and finished the main quest months later when Shivering Isles came out.

Oblivion's main quest was decent but short. Shivering Isle's main quest was just right.

I'm in the same set of circumstances, although I do have about 85 other games I haven't played yet. There's nothing wrong with the MQ. I think my problem is that, even with mods, my spellsword archetype guy does quite a bit more damage with a couple of swords than a couple of fireballs, and a whole lot more either way than a sword and spell (which is how I want to play). I have maxed smithing and got at least 60 in enchant, so I can really do a lot with my swords and my armor's pretty nice too, but since I've been essentially wasting my points on magicka I don't have a lot of health.

Once I got an excuse to stop playing, which was I was spending all my Skyrim time dicking around with the toy soldiers mod, I took it and ran.

I understand the sentiment. The main quest of TES games is often pretty low on the list of why we all love TES.

I never finished Oblivions main quest, and quickly got bored of that game. And those annoying rifts or whatever they were called. I wanted to like Oblivion, and even tried with mods, but just couldn't get into it. Morrowind was much better, and Skyrim is better than Oblivion too. Skyrim's main quest is pretty straight forward, and I found it better than Oblivion's and Morrowind's main quests.

Oblivion gates and yes, not many people liked how many there were.

I agree with this. I very rarely progressed the main quest beyond exiting the sewer. The gates were just so repetitive to close. Each one was a chore that didn't have the kind of pay off that I felt was worthwhile.

It is the same with the dragons in Skyrim. It isn't as bad as the Oblivion gates, but still annoying.

And, if I'm remembering correctly, cliffracers were less annoying that the oblivion gates and more annoying than the dragons.

The one advantage that Oblivion gates have when destroying the countryside was that the Oblivion sky doesn't count as daylight. Vampires are perfectly safe nearby. :)

It's not that I find the main quest boring, it's just I don't like going out of my way to do things until I've murdered half of everything in a 10 mile radius around the city I'm based at.

Cliff racers can go die. All of them.

I actually encountered some random encounters that consisted of a Stormcloak vs. Imperial skirmish. Even right down to a Stormcloak vs. Thalmor skirmish as well.

One time I came across three Imperials escorting a captured Nord.

They were roughly 30 seconds outside of Windhelm.
