Depends if ATI's drivers work and how long it will take them to release ones that do work if they don't. And yes there is a paper map, as has been widely publicized about the retail version.

Sadly the map for Oblivion wasn't as good as the Morrowind map and it doesn't look like the Skyrim map is much better either

Almost sad that I got it on steam, but only almost. I didn't mind using Oblivion's ingame map anyway.
Some of the ingame music has been leaked on youtube, and it sounds astonishing. Probably won't get tired of it as soon as I did with Oblivion's soundtrack. It's something you can look forward to.

So apparently the game unlocks at 12:01AM Eastern Time... Which means 9:01PM on the 10th for people on the west coast. At least west coasters get to play at a decent time of the day.

Also, the game preloaded on my machines. It said "You will be able to play when the game is released". I still tried playing it.

Was your pre-load only ~5.8gb as well? Seems very low to me for this sort of game - gonna be a real damper on my day if the thing unlocks and I then have to spend another day waiting for textures or something to download

The game is only about ~6 gigs so no that is correct. However, there is a day one patch apparently.

The day 1 patch is very minor. 5.8 gigs is right. We previously discussed the small size of the game. I have hopes that they did miracles with the textures or I don't know what.

Yes it's midnight for your region. So Australians can play it almost a day before Americans.

Yesterday I said it was midnight in every region at your local time. But after this there was a tweet from Hines saying it was actually midnight Eastern Standard Time, and everywhere in the world at that exact time. So it's in 17 hours now, as Steam should indicate to everybody.

You're in Europe, I don't know, maybe the info I read was for North America having only one time for everybody... But I doubt it. One thing for sure, it's gonna be earlier than the usual 10 AM Valve time. I know I'll be drooling in front of my comp until it unlocks when I'm back from work later. Then I bet it won't unlock for hours after the countdown is over

Actual game discussion: do you guys ever make characters that aren't really optimal in terms of race/skill specialization choices? Everytime I go "I'm gonna do something strange like a Bosmer heavy armor knight!", 5 hours later I realize I'm a stealthy archer in a leather armor and I failed to keep to my theme; the race benefits were too much of a magnet.
