lurker's comment: do you really think we would go to all the trouble of underlining and making it green?:p
lurker's comment: I did try to do that once and had a heck of a time finding the correct shade of green.

lurker's comment: me too.;) , you were not alone.

lurker's comment: Since everyone else is talking about the delurk tags, it reminded me of before the tags appeared, and I occasionally would do something like [emerging from the lurking position][/returning to my former place of lurking] (maybe I should do that sometime for kicks).

Now, to say something on topic...:mischief: I'm pretty sure the Mayans have WW, especially after they captured Umma (this makes no sense unless you've read and remember Oystein's article).

Pre-turn
Switched entertainer in Sumer to scientist, Literature goes down to 14 turns.

IBT
Mayans dropped two JT's near capital.

Turn 1
Kill mayan landings with elite AC and archer. [2-0]
Move two cats from lagash to Sumer.
Worker on the west coast was fortified, he is mining that place now.

Meet Arabs, they dropped settler pair to the east shore. I have nothing to trade, they are in the Middle ages and in Repuclic too.

IBT
Mayans landed swordsman and horseman near Ur. They completed GLib.

Turn 2
Kill swordsman and horse by elite AC's [4-0]. And... I hear the war drums! :band:
Finally this was happend - we got a LEADER!!! [party]

Turn 5
Lagash completed Curragh, sent it overseas to forse the last AI's into war mode
There are 6 swords near Sumer. Open the way to capital.
Checked CA2, Sumer have 0.1-0.3 flip chanse. Not too much, but it will be bad if we will lose SoZ. :mischief:

IBT
Sword attacked elite EW on iron hill, and redlined it. JT finished the sword's job [5-1]

Turn 6
Took a swordsman near Lagash by elite AC [6-1]

Turn 7
Kill spear on cow using vet AC [7-1]

Turn 8
Curragh found little island with tundra
Kill mayan spearman [8-1]

IBT
Mayans killed our curragh [8-2]

Turn 9
IBT
I saw first MDI and Pike

Turn 10
We have an army, and stack of 22 units in Sumer, next player may lunch an attack.

LEADER! Thank you RNG! Thank you Smart!

Too bad about pikes though :( . I've rarely used artillery support with an army before in any game, but this time I think we should do that. An ACav army could get killed so easily with some bad luck against pikes, I don't want to risk that.

Things are lookin fine :cooool:

Edit: Ooh ooh, Mayan's have only one iron. It's nearby, pillage it with AC army? Elite EW can no longer walk safely along hills, with MDI, so it'd have to be with the army. We could hold that gap with catapults I guess.

Very nice. AC army here we come.
If we could capture the Glib how huge would that be? It would be nice if we could disconnect ther iron too.

Should we squeeze in another city so we have a chance at another leader?

We could get another leader now, but we have to capture or build three more cities to be able to make an army from leader. That arabic city is easy target. Second "must have" city is Mayan city with Iron - raze it and build city 1NE on coast to connect iron via harbor. Then we may build city 2E from Ur.

... Umma ... should be our next goals
It have the Walls and is on hill, better is to capture city with Iron.

No, they have another source of iron, and we can't see it. Maybe it is near their capital. Btw, on this iron we had elite EW, but they have killed him during my turnset:
Turn 5, IBT: "Sword attacked elite EW on iron hill, and redlined it. JT finished the sword's job [5-1]"

GLib is in their capital, I think they have very much units there on Sid level. With second army we probably could do it.

lurker's comment: Well you guys got your army though. You do need to disconect their iron connection IMO, but it would be very dificult to get past those stacks of units on the border.

Agreed.

No, they have another source of iron, and we can't see it. Maybe it is near their capital. Btw, on this iron we had elite EW, but they have killed him during my turnset:

I looked at the save, and right clicked the iron tile, and it has one gold. It's been roaded (this method definately does work for seeing if tiles have roads or not when in the fog, I've tested it many times). In diplomacy the mayans have iron (0 extra). They must be trading, or they never had a second iron.

GLib is in their capital, I think they have very much units there on Sid level. With second army we probably could do it.

Not when at war. When not at war, they stack everyone in core cities, but they're sending everything. I bet there's 5 defenders and 2 attackers in there.

Maybe, but we should do it fast. Swords and JT's doesn't attacked elite EW in walled city on hill, but MDI's will do it. Or maybe we can capture iron-city right now?

Can play tomorrow. Maybe best to first take care of arabs, don't want them to get firm grip on continent. Then use army to pillage iron, and head for GLib, using army as cover for more units? We do need to leave enough units behind to resist them.

As later we will capture GL as more free techs we will get. The problem is that we cannot allow them to fight Knights or even Cavs vs our EW's ;). We should pillage and capture their Iron ASAP, also we may research The Wheel to see where the horses are, and pillage them too.
