Snakes & Foxes 3: The ****oo's Nest (Game Thread)

No time here for a full AAR yet, since I'm legitimately busy, but since it's been mentioned twice now, I should say that my distractedness was largely an act. I was working to bring down the Alliance from the inside as part of my master plan, you see. :D

It happened once, at which point I realized I hadn't considered it. So from that point on I asked them to send me two names instead, so I would always have a pick. IIRC they only had to do that once though, before Winston was killed and the Snakes could reign free.

Oh, I should've mentioned this to you in our pre-game talks about the previous S&F games' mechanics. I had both Mark teams send in primary and secondary choices. The Serpentine Mark's secondary choice would be the opponent if the primary choices for both Marks were the same (while the Vulpine Mark had the advantage of having two players on the same team).

Why am I not surprised ... :p

I actually remember mentioning to Aramazd and/or Kulko at some point that working with you should at least make things interesting. :) But I was expecting you to take a more active role in working for your own advantage, and was sort of surprised when you didn't. (Openly, in any case.)

Memoirs of a dead jester:
The Foxes:
Me - awesome.
Winston - cool! I know this guy. We'll do well!
Azale - didn't really know you, and didn't get to, unfortunately. Seemed largely inactive from what I understood.

Day 1:
So, uhm, I'm my favourite character (Harlequin!) in the game, permitted to go insane, and a mark? Neat. I think I'll just start some bandwagons to get some points home.
And... Mark pick for the first fight, we Foxes picked out Love, random choice. Actually, a bit of sour irony here: I picked Love because I was quite sure I could handle him in a fight.

Day 2:
More bandwagoning. I talk to Niklas, just misc. talk, and he tells me that it's normal for the marks to pick out those dangerous to them for fights. I think why not, and since I have -Armor, -Divine and -Melee, I pick the Paladin to get rid of him.

Can you see the irony? CAN YOU SEE THE IRONY?

Moar later.

... Okay, just to round things off, I really enjoyed being able to help this game out by seconding LF as narrator. I really liked the game and ofcourse wished I could live a bit longer, but that's how it goes.

I would be very interested in playing in the next game of this genre, but I doubt anyone will have the time to host one. I have been talking to Renata about co-orporating with her in hosting S&F IV, but it looks like she's busy with her NotW project, so I predict that this will either not happen or won't at least happen for some months. In the meantime, feel free to host a game (and reserve a spot for me!) if you have the time and capability.

And I third the call for stats!

Actually, it's a second call, since the other two were both me. :p

I was considering hosting one, actually. My NOTW will be delayed somewhat, but I really like this concept. :)

And to kick it off for choxorn;

You are a man of the wild, and animals follow you (+Synergy) since they see in you a kindred spirit. But you are more than that, you know the tricks needed to bend nature to your will (+Nature). You know well how to fight if need be, both with axe in hand (+Melee) or just using kicks and teeth and nails (+Unarmed). Or to get out of harm's way when needed (+Dodge). Nature holds no mysteries for you (xNature), and you know how to fight a pack of wolves (xSynergy), a fast-moving panther (xMovement) or a venoumous spider (xPoison) hiding in its net (xStealth). What bothers you is the unnatural - those throwing fire or lightning from their hands (-Elemental) or the forces of death and distruction (-Profane). The strikes of your pack are many, but each of them weak individually. Your toughest opponents are thus those that are clad in steel (-Armor) or thick skin (-Absorption), or those that heal unnaturally fast (-Regeneration).

Spoiler Stats :
+Melee +Unarmed +Synergy +Dodge +Nature
-Armor -Regeneration -Profane -Elemental -Absorption
xSynergy xMovement xPoison xStealth xNature

Special power: The Pack. You have mastered the art of hunting as a pack, coming at a hapless victim from several directions. You get +2 against any contestant that doesn't have either xSynergy or +Synergy. GM note: You may pick what kind of animals you want to fight with as customization, though I have modelled the special power after wolves. Your power will be the same regardless.

That sounds awesome, PaulusIII. Now, I am twisted between offering my services as narrator/inventor of characters and actually playing.

If you make something out of it, and need some inspiration, I can throw you ideas and you decide stats and abilities. That way, I don't know anything I mustn't, and can play

I'll consider it. For now I'm starting from 0 and think of some ideas.

I'll post my stats later today when I got access to my home computer ;)
I also would be interested in another game... I am not sure I have the time to help designing one in the next few weeks though... even not sure I would be of any help :( (holidays then last year of phd)

Cheers

I was rooting for you! I had to, you had all my money. :mischief:

Anyway, stats:

You're a whirlwind of fury when you get into battle. You rush into the fray (+Movement), striking hard (+Power) with your weapons (+Melee) left and right, striking any and all that would hit you (xSynergy). You hardly feel any hits against you (+Absorption), no matter how strong (xPower), and your body has learnt to heal faster than others would (+Regeneration). When in battle rage your mind is an impregnable castle (xMind), and your body lives a life of its own (xBody). It matters little to you whether the opponent is human or animal (xNature), they fall regardless. What you lack in finesse you make up in raw strength, but your greatest strength can also be a weakness. In your rage you are singleminded (-Distraction), and those truly trained in swordplay can outmaneuver you (-Melee), in particular if your hits just clang against their armor (-Armor). You also pose an excellent predictable target for those firing from afar (-Ranged), and would impale yourself head first on a spear without thinking, just to get to the holder (-Reach).

Spoiler Stats :
+Power +Melee +Movement +Absorption +Regeneration
-Melee -Ranged -Reach -Armor -Distraction
xSynergy xNature xPower xBody xMind

Special power: Battle Rage. When in battle rage you are gone for the world, and you go on past the point most mortals would endure. You are counted has having 3 permanent Potions of Stamina, renewed for each battle. On the downside, you can never use any real stamina potions apart from these, since in battle you wouldn't even remember you had them.
I've had the barebones of a Snakes and Foxes-style game sitting on my computer for the best part of two years now - it was conceived either during or just after the original S&F - but will probably never have enough time to host it. (But basically all I did was take the original game and change the setting, so it isn't 'grand tournament of mighty warriors' anymore. Having to factor in wounds and a scoreboard and all that stuff that the players love would probably be too much for me even if I did have time.)

Too bad that power was never used, since the Berserker never fought. It seems a lot of the powers were kind of useless, or at least not as useful as other powers.

I think that was my fault. I suggested to Niklas that like in Dissensions, everybody gets a special power of sort. Some turned out more useful than others, which I suppose is kind of unavoidable.

Yeah, I know! :( I tried to get myself voted in, and was all set for a battle with the Courtesan or Brujah, but then Chand had to ruin everything by revealing one of the marks. :gripe:

This seems like one of the least useful of powers. Other had battlepowers that granted a straight up ability (like armor for the runekeeper or stealth for the raider).

Here is mine. I was sure I was going to win against renata, so I never used my ability.

You're a mage of the highest echelon. You have mastered every magic discipline, from raining meteors (+Elemental) on enemy armies (xSynergy) to turning pesky apprentices into frogs (+Body). You could summon powerful otherworldly entities (+Conjuration) to do your bidding, or send fearsome fake dragons (+Illusion) to strike fear in the minds of your adversaries (+Mind). You're too sharp to fall for those tricks from others (xIllusion, xMind), and you can resist most magic attacks (xElemental, xBody) on your person. Your mage training has left you physically fragile (-Power), and it's hard to cast spells with your arms pinned (-Unarmed). You don't like people shooting at you (-Ranged), and those hardest to defeat are those that deflect (-Deflection) or simply hide (-Stealth) from you.

Spoiler Stats :
+Conjuration +Elemental +Illusion +Body +Mind
-Power -Ranged -Stealth -Unarmed -Deflection
xSynergy xElemental xIllusion xBody xMind

Special power: Divination. Once during the game you may divine another character's full stats. You will receive a complete up-to-date list of abilities, weaknesses and resistances, but nothing else. Note that this power is subject to the same time restrictions as a Scanner item.

Here is mine. I was sure I was going to win against renata, so I never used my ability.

Yeah, that probably seemed like a good idea, if you could only use the ability once. Renata just bought two ablities against your weaknesses, and that doomed you. Heck, even without any boosts, it would have been a tie- you both naturally have 3 abilites hitting nothing, 1 ablity hitting a weakness, and 1 ability hitting a resistance.

This seems like one of the least useful of powers.

That's probably for the best, seeing as how MooseWarrior was inactive for most of the game. (That wasn't his fault BTW, he had computer problems. It was gracious of him to let me take over his character.)

Oh, speaking of inactivity, I also wrote this silly letter to Niklas for some reason. I think it was the weather messing with my head or something, I certainly wasn't all there when I did it. Niklas didn't post the whole letter, though, perhaps because the last bit was just too SHOCKING AND OFFENSIVE for public viewing.

As an honorary ghost of an assassin, I demand to see that last part of the letter :p
