Midday, Day 4
The fourth day was surprisingly narrow in scope where voting was concerned. Unlike the previous days, when typically more than half the contestants had one vote or more, and generally only two or three had more than two votes, this day saw the votes concentrated on a select few unlucky souls. Sure, only thirteen contestants had voted as of midday, but there were still no less than five contestants with at least four votes to their name. The Firebow had a lead that was none too comforting (or uncomforting as it may be), and below him the Frost Speaker narrowly edged out the Dragonslayer due to having more votes from team leaders.
The betting on the other hand... well, there was no betting to speak of, since only one single (large!) bet had been placed, on the Mercenary. No odds (other than the uselessly abstract concept of infinity) could be derived from that bet, and some in the audience speculated that the other contestants didn't want to bet until after the two combatants had been moved into isolation, so as not to have to face the dark looks from the one they bet against. But everyone agreed that there would be more bets during the evening. After all, there could be only one winner of the tournament, and the key to winning was to bet.
