Snoopy's Terrain Graphics Modpack for Conquests

Snoopy's Terrain Graphics v4.5 for Civ3 Conquests (C3C) 2016-10-05

yes you can use it without the scenario-load function, look here to know how to

I think there was a particial-download but with some problems, the latest version(s) are only as full-archives

never tested c3c-version with vanilla civ, but it should work (there are only some more files now), else you can download Snoopy4.1 (also download able from page, I've posted above) it works fine with Civ3 and Civ3PtW

Ok, confirm that I'm right: first I unzip the files, then copy the ones belonging into /Terrain there. The ones tha are from /Cities should be put into the folder.

Anything else I should do?

if you only want to use the terrain and not the cities, resources,... from the archives, you simply need to copy the content of the terrain-folder to the Art\Terrain-folder of your game/addon if you want to use cities,... replace your existing files with the ones from the archives, thats all, if you start/load a game next time you will see the new graphics (but not in scenarios with own terrain ;) )

Thanks. :) It works now. :) I was messing with the files terribly, but I got it to work, I think. :)

Thank you Snoopy and other contributors here.

I love these mods to the terrain ... so much so I've renamed the originals and copied in the new pcx files in the appropriate directories, so that my default games use the mods all the time (with the exception of the scenarios).

I do have a question ... there is a new file called VolcanosWithLava.pcx in the 4.5 version that I cannot find an orginal for.

I take it this is a new pcx you need to use the snoopy biq for ? That it doesn't replace a game provided VolcanosWithLava.pcx ?

WarningU2 - it's not used anywhere in game. It's just alternative Volcanos.pcx (you have to rename it obviously, if you want to use it).

Never mind, checked it myself.

I like the ones without the lava better, though.

It is just an alternate volcanos, you can see lava in the volcano.

You will have to rename it volcanos to use it.

Nice stuff, let's hope I can make it work.

By the way, after reading through this whole thread, if anyone mentions the word green to me the coming week I believe I'll snap. :(

I like the gre...yish (;)) version myself better´, it looks a bit nicer IMHO than the original one. :)

But the ***** water one is a bit ill- looking IMHO...

My PTW terrain folder is a messy compilation :)

Terrain.pcx for solid territory boundaries (I forget the creater)

Fezick's floodplains

And then a mix of various Sn00py graphics:
Forests, jungles, and hills from 4.1 - Greener

Irrigation, rivers, water, grasslands, plains, tundra from Sn00py's Terrain X (on PTW CD)

Mountains, Mountain forests, Mountain snow from Sn00py's regular (PTW CD)

I'm trying to figure out what I want to use with C3C now...

Looking at the new C3C built in graphics, I like the volcano cones (the charred looking tops), but the rest of the red mountain look doesn't go with the Sn00py mountains (regular or greener).

Any chance Sn00py, Thunderfall, or another artist can create volcanos with the more distinct burnt / charred tops that otherwise match the Sn00py terrain sets?

Thanks!

Looking at some different Sn00py versions some more, and I have a few comments / questions:

I love the new grassland forests!

I like the NEW greener (less greener) better. I'm among the group that felt that the old Greener was TOO green.

What is the original source of the "improved" resource.pcx file? It's a version with no blips, letters, or smileys, but many of the images are tweaked to be more defined. Saltpeter looks more grayish and less white, the horse has a more distinct tail away from it's haunches, uranium is a few pieces instead of one clumpy piece, etc... It appears to be the basis for the resource sets used in the Game of the Month downloads here, but is not from Sn00py's Terrain.

And the biggest question :) What happened to Sn00py's Terrain X !?

I really liked that one! It had blue waters instead of greenish, but with the more normal water look, not the 3D "you can see the continental shelf drop off" look. Plus it had (in my opinion) the best irrigation graphics I've ever seen!

Snoopy would need to do that. :) I can only change the color balance. I agree with you that it would be nicer to make some of the volcanos more distinct though.

That's the resource.pcx in C3C. The current resource.pcx in v4.5 is based on the PTW resource.pcx file.

civ3.de 's ColdFever compiled that version. :)
