That's easy to say until you have a Trump supporter in front of you. What about then? Are you still, "They have a right to their opinion."?McCarthyism is so passe

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery". Winston Churchill

And considered to be one of the greatest leaders in history! Besides, those guys got what was coming to them for daring to question the Crown! The same Winston who gassed Iraqi villages and let millions of people die in India pretty much on purpose?
"If I were Italian, I am sure I would have been with you [Mussolini] entirely from the beginning of your victorious struggle against the bestial appetites and passion of Leninism. Your movement has rendered a service to the whole world." - Big Winny C."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery". Winston Churchill
That would be tasteless to say now, let alone in 1945 about people who served admirably and with distinction in the wartime Coalition government.Churchill said:No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo
It's what the ATF used in Waco.Wtf is this non lethal gas and how is it supposed to beat your enemies. Laughing gas? Did he want to drug them into submission?
Really not sure what that has to do, with well, anything that has been posted about him. That he was fond of gassing Muslim hill tribes, had fascist sympathies, and was never entirely sold on the concept of democracy. The same Churchill that only amounted to anything during a national crisis. So, everything was a crisis.

I thought I just said that. His fascist sympathies were what made him so effective against fascists.Really not sure what that has to do, with well, anything that has been posted about him. That is the strangest comment on WW II that I have ever seen.that was a mass shooting of the messenger

If you believe in the never entirely discredited sociological theory of wolves and sheep, Churchill was a wolf. At the time, that was what England needed. Not so much in the post-war cleanup.

As my father used to say, re Churchill's losing the 1945 election, "In wartime he frightened the enemy, in peacetime he frightened us".
Nobody will probably ever find out what really happened.
