Moroco for the last Modern Civ in the base game will be a good choice. What are the chances of it?
Exceptionally smallMoroco for the last Modern Civ in the base game will be a good choice. What are the chances of it?
Definitely harder than some of the previous ones (but who doesn't love a little challenge?)! Also wanted to share the two dictionaries I found while researching these in case others were interested in learning more: Dictionary of Humburi Senni from the University of Michigan and an unknown dialect dictionary project from Songhay.orgThank you! Songhay is a somewhat obscure but rather neat little language family.
Mali was also mentioned. But based on the description, it could only appear in the Antiquity Age, which I really think is quite unlikely. However, the Ghana Empire would be a very fitting predecessor to Songhai, especially since it almost perfectly matches what is considered the Antiquity Age in the game.Hints for future DLC, most likely.
I'd say almost 0%, but highly likely for future additional content.Moroco for the last Modern Civ in the base game will be a good choice. What are the chances of it?
It's an odd choice because I can think of several unit choices whose names that don't sound so generic. I guess they wanted an infantry unit because most other Exploration civs have unique cavalry?I think it’s because of a group of elite Songhai soldiers who wore gold bracelets
I did end up finding another reference to it. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a name for them in their language, so that's why I agree that the name does sound pretty generic.I think it’s because of a group of elite Songhai soldiers who wore gold bracelets
I can't see Mali appearing in this iteration either. Mansa Musa could still appear as a leader later though and would pair well with a West Africa/North Africa civ progression.Mali was also mentioned. Since they are unique its possible they act in a unique way.... Perhaps those "Homeland Treasure Fleets" are actually land units (that can embark) but must be brought to your capital (or a foreign territory?) to unload....It will be interesting to see how balanced the treasure fleets civic is since they would spawn and could be instantly claimed that turn, but I think it’s very unique and thematic, and glad there’s another “focuses on the homeland in exploration age” civ
I doubt that. "Fleet" definitely connotes ship, and they would've highlighted that it's a unique unit, I think.Since they are unique its possible they act in a unique way.... Yeah that would be it, must be unloaded in the territory of a civ you have trade route with. That way its not just a Ticking time to win.
Gotta build those boats to go up river thenSomething I thought of with regards to playing against the Songhai:
Don't conquer them. Just stay in a state of war. Keep your units in their territory and steal every Treasure Fleet that spawns.
Yeah... hopefully it isn't just "activate on homeland territory" though... Activate on foreign territory you have trade agreement with would still work though... Otherwise its just a victory timer based on the number of N.River cities,I doubt that. "Fleet" definitely connotes ship, and they would've highlighted that it's a unique unit, I think.
So we have a couple of Exploration civs with a different take on legacy path mechanics; I wasn't expecting 2/10 at launch, I thought that might come later. I'm glad to see it!
