Spl01 - Noobish Players Try the Concurrent Format

Spoiler :
I disagree. Prince is my standard difficulty. If I have mysticism, I'll often try for a religion and still get beat by one turn often enough. Typically, though, I'll usually see Budhism popped around turn 9 and Hinduism about turn 11.

I don't think I've ever gotten either of the first two starting without mysticism.

Spoiler :
Either way we're fighting people from nightmares -- Either the warmongers who kill us, or the financial civs that laugh at us and leave us on the planet while they fly away.

Oh yeah, where did MAXFIELD come from pholkhero?

Nah. Half the fun of this game is pilliaging cotteges. You know how much coin you get from warring with Mansa? Just don't wait until modern era to do it. The dawn of Catapults might be a good time for us. We just have to get to them first. Cotteges on the deltas might just help us out there.

Nahhhh..it won't be that bad :)

I'm not sure exactly. MAXFIELD is the name of a PR business my father has, and, maybe, for some reason, i gave my comp this name or somethign, i don't know...Civ never prompted me to enter one; i just started a game and I was MAXFIELD ~ at first i thought civ just entered a random name for you! and I have absolutely NO idea how to change it for good.

I usually change it, but I forgot in this one. We can change it from the Options menu somehow to Hatty . . .

Go to the program directory. On mine, it's "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4"

There's a symbolic link called "Civ4Config". Double click on it, it should open the INI in notepad (or default text editor)

Find the line that looks like

; In-game Alias
Alias = MAXFIELD

change to

; In-game Alias
Alias = Pholkhero

That happened to me in the demo, but never the full version. I entered a name once, and it stayed...

I don't remember entering that name...but, maybe it was :smoke: on my part

stranger things have happened

Yeah. Mine took the computer's "network" name (APRICOT), which was fine. But when I signed up for gamespy, it changed to my email address. I didn't want that to be my in-game name so I had to change it.

P.S.: Yes, my home network uses flaura for names. Apricot, eggplant, tomato, and one other I don't remember.

lol, when I started, it used... IBM-blablabla (Not literally, but I don't remember the #s)

Oh yeah, and :religion: will rely on a mysticism hut.

This really messed us up, or at least, me.

that's what my bro's game does! I love it when it's in the diplo screen, or when they declare war on 'mark-015582148501'

Can we call you apricot??

...I'm glad I checked.

Spoiler :
Discovered that the cows are hooked up and the worker is farming... We may be able to pull off a vote instead of playing 10 more turns. He's got a settler in 4 turns, Hunting in 3 (with 7 more turns for sailing, but whatever). Down side is the lack of exploration, but I know my general way around.

Spoiler :
I've managed to convince myself that we're surrounded by folks who don't give two sh-ts about religion. I'm seriously wondering if anyone's even got mysticism, yet. Thinking I might want to cut back and see if I can found Hinduism.

Of course, if I do, does that mean that the other civs will be at engineering by the time we get bronze working?

I'm also very curious to hear Autocon's take on things. His tag line is "Stuck at Monarch". If that means he can't win at monach, no biggie. If that means that he's getting bored with monarch, but can't win at emperor, he might be an awefully nice instructor. (For me, at least.)
