Spl01 - Noobish Players Try the Concurrent Format

OK then, everyone plays 15 turns of Rex's save. Spoiler Zone Ends midninght tuesday night, all saves and write-ups must be in by wednesday night, midnight.

Sorry i missed this all :( I had the weekend from hell.

I played the turns fri night, but never had a chance to post them before my computer fried itself sat morning...

LOL, it's pretty hard to offend someone who lives in NY. Besides, they're 2-4 now.
Home opener @ 1! You going frank?

edit: oh, the point of my post was, i've got it, played and will post tonight.

@ splime: i agree that in a normal SG declaring on the last turn would've been a faux pas (a fax pass), but w/concurrent, i don't think it makes much of a difference

Nah, I live about 4 hours from the Bronx. Close enough to be well within the cultural borders of the Big Apple, but far enough that I have to pick and chose what games I attend.

I played last night, will post when I get home tonight.

4 Hours?!?! I live closer to NYC than you! Where is Rome anyway...north of the city, or west??

edit add: The Fightin' Axeman TM is up in France, pillaging and generally causing havoc where he can ~

ok, I'll analyze tommorow. Rex, that's fine.

hehe, hope they declare... Pholkhero has a nice advantage of having the axe already in France, but I could also have that capability...

EDIT: I should also draw our attention to the iron shortage...

I should also draw our attention to the iron shortage...
too bad for taking cities, yeah, but axes are enough to stop any frog swords ~ Rex not w/standing, is anyone planning on putting together an Expeditionary Force to conquer france?? my aim was just to f- w/all their infra

I'm thinking that if we can get the forces, go for it, but if not, don't bother.

NEW PATCH! To continuue playing the turnsets now, you must confirm that you have dowloaded the patch:

Splime:
Pholkhero:
Rex_Tyranus:
Autocon:
Frankcor:
(Copy and paste to confirm yourself)

I've officially dropped Spinoza now. Of course, he can always rejoin.

Splime: Patched Up
Pholkhero:
Rex_Tyranus:
Autocon:
Frankcor:

I've been looking at the saves so far... deciding between pholk's and mine (frank's didn't have deer hooked up, and we REALLY need it.)

I look at pholk's save, and can't stress enough that we need passengers on our galleys.

Leaning towards my save, but still thinking.

My preliminary thoughts lean towards Splime's save, primarilly because the other two posts came from Yankees fans.:p

I haven't yet done any in-depth analysis and will do that tonight.

Regarding the patch, I'm holding off for a moment. First, I want to make sure the general consensus is that the patch is functional. Next, I have one SG where some members of the group are pushing to finish the game in 1.52

I think if that game votes on 1.52, I'll drop it. Really, I don't see myself waiting too long to patch unless there's a major issue with it. Though, I'd certainly like to wait a bit longer.

Trying... to... keep... mouth... shut...

Crap... I've already patched up. We can delay the patching to the end of next turnset, because all of the previous saves were done in v1.52.

The following is taken from another topic:

Dual install is pretty easy.

1. Copy "Sid Meier's Civilization IV" in Program Files/Firaxis Games, to "Sid Meier's Civilization IV v1.52".

2. Rename "Sid Meier's Civilization IV" in My Documents/My Games, to "Sid Meier's Civilization IV v1.52".

3. Install the patch.

4. Run from one directory or the other to get the version you want. You'll also be able to install mods separately for the two versions, save games will be separate for the two versions, etc. The new version will have a clean install with no mods, which is probably what you want (since many old mods won't work).

I'm going to vote for my own save because:

1. It's so close to a circumnavigation. On this map, that's gotta be important.

2. We have a galley and a settler (soon) in the capital along with an archer in our south ready to send southward to grab some territory in the lush jungles. High population cities are going to come in real handy in this climate.

I'll be patched up tonight, hopefully with dual versions so I can go either way.
