I'm very tempted to choose Corsidinia, however, I wont. Also, I guess I'm about to make the Western Med more crowded...

Nation Background: The Berbers have inhabited the lands stretching from Western Sahara to Lybia for millenia. As time progressed they adopted techiques such as farming, metal working, horse back riding, and perhaps most importantly sailing. With these techniques in hand they created several properous city states stretching across the Mahgreb and beyond. One of these city states was Algiers, which had grown to have great wealth from trade and, at times, piracy. It was around Algiers that several of the Berber city states joined together, one of the most important being Oran. The Jamahiriyan Kingdom of the Algerian Berbers was born. An advanced system of governance combined with a rich cultural heritage, a seafaring and trading society, and military prowess both on and off horses, gives great hope to the Berbers' future.
Jamahiryan Monarchy: Based on old Berber customs, the government is constructed around both monarchial and 'republican' traditions. There is a monarch who rules the kingdom, but his reign is not inherited naturally. He (or she, as the Berbers are both patriarchal and matriarchal) is chosen through a hierarchal series of People's Councils, each People's Council electing a royal candidate from one of the ex-city states' or nomadic tribes' royal families. As the election proceeds up through the hierarchy, the field of cadidates narrowed. The highest People's Council then chooses the new monarch from the remaining candidates, terms are for life.
