staznesX: All Under Heaven

Nice. The map was pretty much followed, through I didn't expect quite as much expansion on the Kongo :).

Colonization does not work that way!

Were my orders too late then?

Mapping a region certainly helps though. ;)

And no, they were not late. I put all of your orders into effect.

@darkening, ahh, much of that land you have taken is not really under your control persay, so much as you have a legitimate claim and so it's being colored in your color :p If that makes sense.

The United States thanks the Kingdom of Holland and Hannover for its recognition of our nation. You give us courage to continue our struggle against the forces of the British Empire.

With British defeat now inevitable our cause strengthans....

We would of course welcome you to mediate a peace treaty between us.

I fear you are dangerously misguided. Might remind you that I am the supreme ruler of your faith, your highness. Calling me a puppet when there is no proof otherwise is unfortunate.

EDIT: Azale, the pope is 75 right now.

Wow, just wow. You took Boston from some ragtag Colonial soldiers. I must praise your superior leadership. Now let us see you retake Charleston from British regulars, and if you succeed, just maybe we will consider withdrawing from the war.

So in ending, I again applaud your seemingly fantastic battle for Boston, was it really that hard to take? I mean we are talking about militia here....

OOC: England was capable of putting together expeditions to the Carabiean- why is it so much harder for Sweden?

From King Erik XV
To Riksdag

I am rightful king, and you have no rightful authority. I remind you that you accepted in 1527 the modifications of Gustav I. What a King can modify, a King can abolish. However, under the circumstances, I am willing to give you some concessions to ensure the orderly running of the state, and propose the following deal:
-The Riksdag will be given complete control of administration, laws and taxation
-The King will be given complete control over matters of war
-We will return to a system of royal selection by Parliament for the time being

The Riksdag has reviewed your proposal and finds it suitable. However, they cannot allow you to take this war to Spain. Not only is it out of the general interest of Sweden but it will no doubt embroil us in a war we can not really afford at the moment...

@neverwonagame, you need to remember logistics money and specify how many soldiers your sending and where exactly they are going. You general orders are good, just not near detailed enough in that regard.

O.K- one final amendment. There will be no wars against Spain whatsoever without the approval of the Riksdag.

OOC: I must say, the style has improved some how (in a way I can't explain). But your wicked sense of humor still remains azale :p

My apologies, but all diplo and PMs will be answered tomorrow :)

So hasty, and so incredibly rude. Your actions rather deserve an apology, I believe, and restoration of relations with Catholic nations.

I will not restore relations with heretics. As agreeing with the Riksdag, the war is off for now. But even if the unified forces of every Catholic power united to attempt to force me into it, I would never restore relations with the likes of you.

If you were to be Protestant, I would enthusiastically restore relations with Spain. But I am not naive enough to believe that you are going to do so.

Erhm....'OOC'.

Anyone want to take a bet on when and who takes out Sweden? Step up, step up! C'mon, let me hear 'em! Good pay out, I swear.

Jesus treated with the Romans. Thomas treated with the Indians. Justinian treated with the Arabs. Richard treated with Saladin. Luther himself treated with the Church. And yet you will take a doctrinal matter so far?

Are you a servant of Christ, or the devil, that you should sow seeds of dissension through Christendom?

Yes. Would these be the same British regulars who encountered such tremendous success in New England? Perhaps you should compare our losses. Especially those 5 brigades of seasoned regulars we destroyed. Or that man of war that our "rebel" navy sunk.

Our victory is inevitable. It would be wise for you to end this war before you lose more blood and treasure.

In the first and the second case, the matter was not between states. In the third and fourth, it was a matter of making peace, not a matter of alliance. In the fifth, the current split in the Church had not yet become inevitable.

Mostly, it is a matter of seperating ourselves from the behavior of typical kings of this day, who seek not the will of God but power for themselves. To quote Scripture:

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Presumably you would accept that such behavior was exhibited with the partition of your own terrortories in the Netherlands and Italy at the least. Do you or do you not deny that such is typical of our age?

Where, in the phrase "normalization of relations" or its equivalent "reopening of relations" does "alliance" appear? To refuse to speak with every Catholic nation on Earth closes an awful lot of doors. You might not want alliance, but a regular dialogue between nations is pragmatic and sensible.

Things that happened a century ago don't qualify as "typical of our age". And the partition of Spanish territories in Italy had nothing to do with what the Spanish wanted.
