stJNESX: From Bad to Good
Update 7: 1400bce
The nations of Ankara, Konya, Sivas, and Adana rise in the lands of Turkey, and to protect their small states have formed a loose confederacy, the Nuion. All four states are relatively unpopulated, and separate are weak, but united pack a good punch. The state of Ankara seems to rise above the rest, more populated and thus a better chance at forming a powerful nation. The city of Ankara is both the largest in Turkey, and the best defended. From there, the Nuion is ruled.
Mountains in Austria from which Iron is extracted
Finally finding a use for the hard substance found in their land, the Austrians learn the Iron Age from their own soothsayers. Because of the bountifulness of the metal, more is traded with its neighbors, and the technology of iron comes with it. Macedonia, Bulgars, Hanseatic, and Takir all advance into the Iron Age.
The worlds first court system is established in China, with much resistance to it from the nobles and warlords. However, it does bring hope and happiness to the peasantry, who hold almost no power. Feeling betrayed, the nobles leave the emperor one by one, some uniting and forming whole other nations with private armies of forced peasants and mercenaries to fight the Chinese should the attack. These rebels have established the kingdoms of Shang (north) and Titsu (south). This show of weakness has also prompted Koguryo to attack the northern reaches of China. Responding quickly to the invasion, general Fing-Shi leads an army of newly-formed spearmen against the chariotry and clubmen, being outnumbered three to one. The spearmen await the charge from the chariots, with their spears drawn out in front of them. As the chariots charge, the Koguryo clubmen begin to encircle the formation. This is when Fing-Shi orders the spearmen to break formation, letting the chariots drive right between the force, and then showers them with javelins and arrows. With the chariots destroyed, the split and spread force is able to mop up the opposing clubmen until they retreat. The battle is won, and the Koguryo invasion has been pushed back.
Huns in battle, with Attila leading them.
The once great trading empire of Novgorod finally collapses in on itself as the treasuries are spent and the men are drafted for war. Once one of the richest nations in Europe, Novgorod is now the poorest, the markets are as empty as the east. But the army is ready, well fed, and well equipped with the last bit of money the Kingdom had, and reinforced by Hanseatic soldiers who form their own formation to fight off the barbarians. The massive amounts of spearmen are nothing compared to the hordes of horsemen, though, and with the barbaric disregard for life, the barbarians continue to charge through, and break the line that the Novgorodians and the Hanseatics had constructed. In the battle of Sliv, the allied army is defeated and the mounted barbarians enter the heartland of Novgorod, burning everything in their path. The leader is now identified as Attila, and the barbarians are known as the Huns. However, being just horsemen and knowing no siege tactics, the city of Novgorod itself is spared while everything else around it is burnt and looted. Now that the Huns have reached the sea, a mighty flotilla is built and directly threatens the Hanseatic League.
The Colossus of Holstein
The danger of the Hun invasion makes its way to the villages throughout the League, and membership in such a league is soon questionable to the warlords who enrolled their tribes. Believing that the league was a mistake, and desperately hanging on to the hope that their individual kingdoms may be able to work out peace with the Huns, the League is dissolved, leaving the first three tribes united at its core, who cordially names their nation Hansea. A new king is installed, King Azale. Meanwhile, the Colossus of Holstein is completed, a grand monument reaching 50 feet high at the seashore. It welcomes every visitor into the sprawling port.
Roads like these criss-cross southern Akkadia.
As pet the agreement, Akkadian army marched through Babylon to lay claim to the new territory, given as a gift by the Assyrian monarch. Immediately the effects of such land, and such a city as that of Babylon, are incorporated into the Akkadian Kingdom. The wealth, the production, and the population the land helps to bring new prosperity upon Akkadia, strengthening the trading ties between cities such as Ur and Babylon. The Red Sea is also reached, and scouts immediately are sent across the desert on the other side to meet Egypt, and established a trading route free of charge to the merchants, unlike going through Canaan in the north. This also helps the Akkadians gain an upper hand in the economic struggle of the Middle East. Roads are now common throughout the southern Mesopotamian lands, connecting cities like Ur Kish together with stone roads. Canals are built for the larger cities, providing means of transportation in the city, and an easier water source for animals and civilians alike.
The Akkadians then decide to stab the back of Assyria. Whist in the north battling the invading Canaanites, the Akkadian king, Sheep II, leads an army north towards Nineveh. However, not quite trusting the Akkadians, and with spies left in Babylon, King Agamemnon of Assyria left two hundred men as a rear guard. Heroically they are able to hold the Akkadians from crossing the Tigris, after defeating an army coming from the south.
The rebel king, calling himself the true king, is proven to the undefended monarch in Takir. Giving up, Duran committed suicide, legend say right in front of Nuch Ching, the rebel king. Placing the crown onto his head, everyone around him immediately fell to their knees in obedience to the new king. The Shang dynasty began that moment in Takir, and many new changes would be made to the now-sprawling empire created from the Roman war. First, Latin was adopted by the reading class from the conquered Roman territories, the first real language of Takir. Over a generation it was blended with simple sounds and constants found in the pre-Latin language of Takir, to form Taktinir, which is now spoken throughout the country and has been adopted as the official language. However, civil unrest has become a trademark of the new empire. Roman rebellion is common, and the bulk of the Taikiran army must remain in the south just to keep order. Also, many nobles who were sworn into allegiance to former-emperor Duran prosperously annoy Taikiran forces in the west. However, with the introduction of the six hundred new spearmen from the Ching army, this has formed the Ching Guard, an extremely loyal and trained guard that is feared throughout the land, and certainly helps keep order.
Canaan forces sweep through the mountains of Turkey down upon the flatlands of Mesopotamia like a plague upon city folk. Faced with know real alternative, Agamemnon leads his men to battle upon flat plains, allowing the Canaanites full advantage of their superior numbers. Numerous battles take place, and every time the Canaanites are winners.
Assassination attempts at Agamemnon fail again, as the Egyptian Assassins, sent by Cyprus, are again caught. The Assyrian king is, and has been, surrounded by his army and generals ever sense war was declared, giving the assassins hard time in getting through. However, this time an arrow was fired from a nearby cliff and did strike the king in his chest. However, the heavy studded leather armor was able to slow the arrow down, and Agamemnon was off his feet only a couple weeks. The assassin was later caught, and was killed by each one of his limbs slowly cut off.
Without any orders in the city of Bulgar, the Macedonian and Athenian army is massacred as they slowly died of starvation. The Bulgar king, not believing that he was able to order such an easy attack, participated himself in the slaughter. No movement was made to counterattack into Macedon itself.
Refugees swamp the Masillian countryside.
War erupts between the Balearic Kingdom and the nation of Carthage. Both vie for the control of the Sicilian straights, a strategic waterway that connects the eastern Mediterranean and with western, so whoever controls this controls the trade. Currently Carthage controls it, and was charging outrageous tariffs by the merchants. Not accepting this threat to their stabilized economy, the Balearic Kingdom attacked, landing an army just west of Carthage. The city of Hippo is burned, and many refugees flee the nation of Carthage on small boats to the north, where they make landfall in Masillia. Such an overflow of refugees upset the current inhabitants, and many small skirmishes and riots erupt between the two peoples.
The Persians decide to consolidate their power by invading the Indian nation of Gujarat. Taking the Gujarati by surprise, the Persians were not met with any hostilities before reaching the Indus River and its rich valley. The Persians not only conquered the area, but a flood of desert nomads came into the lucrative and fertile valley too, to make the land domestically Persian. It worked too, nearly half of the population there is now Persian, fully supporting the occupying army. They, too, learn the iron age of their own accord.
The Picts, gaining the upper hand last century, finally finish off the war with a fully united Britain, destroying the Angle opposition and sending the Angles fleeing from Britain. Most go to northern Takir, where like in Massilia, there is tension between the two ethnic groups.

New Rules
Some nations may be able to trade surplus resources that you gain somehow (iron in Austria is one way a random event. Other ways could be war, or good planning, etc.) can be sold. If you have them, it will be shown in your stats with a number near it in brackets. This number represents the amount of surplus you have. You can sell the surplus, to any nation you wish, one a turn, and you will gain one economy from it. In return, the nation you sell it to
may gain something too, depending on what it is you sell them. You can do this, OR, if it is something that can be used for war (iron, timber, horses, etc. Not grain, wine, or other luxuries) you may convert it into army, one a turn. The type of army you get depends on the resource, and the amount is unknown (generally will be one economy worth). This is good if you do not want to give advantages to your neighbors by selling it to them, or if you dont want to increase non-military stats.
OOC
