THIS IS THE MANIFESTO OF THE PIRATES SPATIALES.

AS THE ANCIENT BALLAD OF OLD SOL STATES, "ALL I WANNA DO IS *bang bang bang bang* *clicky sound* *cha-ching* AND TAKE YOUR MONEY."

WE ASSURE YOU THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE A RECEIPT FOR ALL MAYHEM AND VIOLENCE DELIVERED IN AN ARBITRARY FASHION. YOU WILL BE CHARGED A MINIMUM OF 10 STANDARD ECONOMIC UNITS PER EXPLOSION.

REMEMBER, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. WE ARE THE CUSTOMER, AND WE ARE PURCHASING YOUR ECONOMY, AND PAYING IN EXPLOSIONS.

WE ALSO HAVE A SEMI-ARBITRARY SCORING SYSTEM BASED UPON WHICH THE COOLEST PIRATE SHIP GETS THE MOST HOT PIRATE LADIES AND/OR ATTRACTIVE CAPTIVES. ONE POINT IS EARNED PER COOL STUFF LOOTED, TWO POINTS ARE EARNED PER FAT PLANETSCUM DECAPITATED, AND TWENTY-SEVEN POINTS ARE EARNED PER LARGE EXPLOSION. AS A RESULT WE ARE ALL PRETTY MUCH INTO THE WHOLE EXPLODING THING.

A SELECTION OF PIRATE-THEMED MUSIC WILL BE BROADCAST TO YOUR PLANETS VIA RADIO WAVE WHEN WE ARE IN SYSTEM. IT IS MOSTLY A TASTEFUL COMBINATION OF LATE THIRD-AGE HITS FROM THE ELECTRO-FUNK SCENE. OUR PERSONAL FAVORITE IS "YOU ARE MY SELENIUM," BY YETI EXARCHS.

YOU CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR HIGH STANDARDS OF PERSONAL SERVICE AT HTW.PIRATESSPATIALES.PIRATE. LOGGING ON WILL TOTALLY NOT ENABLE A DATA-MINING PROGRAM OR FEED YOU SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES KILL ALL HUMANS.

OKAY THEN. WE'LL SEE YOU WHEN WE SEE YOU. PIRATES SPATIALES OUT. VIVE LES PEUPLES LIBÉRÉS!

OOC: 7000th POST!

On Board the Remus

Asuryan had just processed the data from the Ansibyl Pearl. Orders had come in from Zavi, rendezvous with the fleet that was being built and prepare for a return jump to Minkar. They needed the computational capacity of the Corsairs to make colonisation effort affordable; they had also demanded a full report on the ships from all Officers. A complete review of the ship capabilities and possible areas where they could be improved.

Two other things had interested him, one was a Top Secret report sourced from the Genesis Projects Spectrographic Research (GP:SR) and the government Ministry of Military Intelligence (MMI); in it information on a new system was revealed; Arrakis, and the discovery (and Asuryan read this with a bit of incredulity) of Space Pirates. The Pirates ship was also called a Corsair in their local dialect. However, it was by all accounts a serious warship outfitted with a broad spectrum of weapons. The Captain had given orders to hide from such ships; the Remus and Romulus had but one tool at their disposal and that was their quiet ion drives and superior computational abilities. MMI had simply said that the techies were working on an emergency solution in the case of Pirate attack.

The other thing was that MMI had been able to support the GP:SR in its conclusions of the contents of Gris. A system possessing but a single planet, a planet that was among the most inhospitable known to Asuryan. But it contained life, of a sort. Machines roamed its surface and Asuryan could not help but feel a little kinship, although he seriously wondered if any of the machines could be classified as sentient. Kations could be described as cyborgs, of man and machine. But Asuryan knew that this was limited by their surroundings [1], they were but mechanical organics. Internal systems that were mechanical were generally improvements on organic systems. The minority of systems that were not replications of organic systems could be brought on by leaps and bounds by the study of the mechanical life on this world.

He was sure Genesis techies were already poring over the data.

[1] The Kations driving purpose, adaptability to their surroundings. They believe they are better than everyone else because they have infinitely more capability to become perfect.

The Republic of Lantian does not consider our exploratory expedition in the Yshakaron system to be in anyway stealing the property or asset of the Soulon League. We do not accept the League's declaration and will continue our actions this year in the Yshakaron system. We will not be bullied by threats of war by the Soulon League.

Should the Soulon League desire to enter negotiations for the purchase of the AP we hope to acquire this year, the Republic will be open to offers from the League for the transaction.

The Republic does not recognize the AP that is in the Yshakaron system to belong to the Soulon League. The position of the Lantian Republic is that the Republic's exploratory expedition entered into a system where the Republic came upon an AP of unknown origin. The Soulon League did not announce at all that one of its probes had broken apart in the system and did not make any claims towards the AP until after the Republic's exploratory expedition came upon it.

As the Republic has stated before, the Republic is open to offers from the Soulon League if the League is interested in paying the Republic for the AP that the Republic is in the process of procuring.

We are not fond of blatant lies. We sent a message to both yourselves and the Ik before your ships ever reached Yshakaron notifying both that the AP which would be in that system was the property of the Soulon League had you ever traveled there. Our statement still stands.

It seems that we did receive such a message and our diplomats simply did not read the Soulon message. In light of this new evidence, our previous position must be declared null and void. That being stated, we shall continue to take the AP into our temporary possession and hold it until your duly authorized personnel retrieve it and have duly compensated us for our efforts in retrieving your loss property. We shall continue to do so until the Soulon League has done so.

And again, the Republic of Lantian does not challenge the decision of the Soulon League to declare war as it wishes should the League finds that the AP has been misappropriated. We merely note that when we take the AP of the Yshakaron into our control, it will remain under our guardianship until negotiations have been completed with the League over its return.

Should the League wish to declare and wage war with the Republic of Lantian while we are temporarily in possession of the Yshakaron AP, it is free to do so.

The Ik Republic did indeed receive this message from the Soulon Leauge regarding the lost AP. However beyond that we cannot comment. We maintain our neutrality in the current matter. We hope that our friends the Soulon and Lantian might resolve this dispute cordially and quickly. We wish you both the best of luck.

We have no wishes to ever go to war with the Republic of Lantian, it is merely our concern regarding the highly valuable AP which has caused our reaction. That said, our AP has been estimated to have been in the Yshakaron system for well over a year, and had there been any threat to the AP, it would have already acted, and thus we feel no need for any guardianship of the AP, but we thank you for your offer. All we would ask, is to simply leave the AP alone, where ever it may be in Yshakaron and continue on your expedition undisturbed by our troubles (there).

Despite the kind words of the Soulon League, the recent discovery of the pirate fleet would point to otherwise for the Soulon League. The Republic is of mind to take the AP into our protection regardless of the words of the League and negotiate later. Regardless, when we take the AP into our protective guardianship we expect to be duly compensated for our efforts by the Soulon League. In the unlikely event that we choose not to safeguard the AP, we wash our hands of the matter.

The Gardeners support the Soulon League. The Republic of Lantian has now been informed that said Pearl is the property of the Soulon, correcting its earlier ignorance. The Soulon have not requested Lantian assistance in retrieving the Pearl, indeed, quite the opposite. So, if the Lantians take possession of the Pearl, it is clearly an action born out of malice, in hopes of ransoming it back or stealing it for themselves, and not ignorance or goodwill.

We believe the pirate fleet to be nothing more than an isolated occurance, arising only once out of the many systems that we have knowledge of. Therefore, our AP is under no threat and requires no external assisstance for reaquiring it. We will not pay for services we neither need nor want. Our original statement still applies, and again, simply leave our Yshakaron AP alone. Our troubles are not with the Republic of Lantian, and we hope you choose to leave it as so.
