T.G.I Fridays now promising UNLIMITED food for only $10

I sometimes prefer places like Mac Shack to the national sit down chains. These places should be avoided unless you're traveling and have to stop in a small town where there's nothing else to eat.

If mozzarella sticks are just solid blocks of fried cheese, then they sound even more grotesquely unhealthy than I thought they were.

I was thinking that they'd be sticks of bread served with mozzarella (or something like that). No wonder you have a raging obesity crisis!

There is nothing wrong with TGI Friday's you food elitists. Perfectly acceptable slightly overpriced food.

They're generally a side or starter. Even Americans aren't going to sit down to a plate of pure cheese. Probably. Maybe. It's fifty/fifty, at any rate.

I will fess up now and say that I have actually ordered two orders of mozzarella sticks from Sonic and just made that my lunch before. Well, plus a sonic sized coke. Mmmm...

I've just checked the British menu and yes...we have the same thing but they're called mozzarela dippers. Shame, one thing we cannot smirk at 'merica for :(

You underestimate our dedication. We gets excited 'bout our foods.

For what it's worth, I think the cheese on American pizzas is usually overrated.

I had no idea T.G.I. Friday's was so controversial. I've never been to one myself, since they're kind of out of the way where I live, but I figured that they were in the same general category as, say, Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday - not gourmet, but not terrible, either, with some good options on the menu. The way a lot of people have been describing them, it sounds like you'd almost be better off going to Taco Bell or McDonald's.

$7.50 for a single appetizer of 6 mozzarella sticks does seem rather high to me. You can buy them at a grocery store for $3 for a dozen or so. I wonder if it's just because it was Brooklyn that it was so pricey before the $10 unlimited deal?

At any rate, I'm glad I've never eaten 32 mozzarella sticks in one day. Definitely not worth $6, although possibly worth a week's vacation depending on how much vacation you get to start with. I'd probably choose a different appetizer if I were planning to eat more than five full orders' worth in one day, though. Mozzarella sticks are just too greasy for that.

One of my favorite local pizza places uses provolone cheese instead of the more commonplace mozzarella. A good change, in my book. Another place has a pizza with gouda cheese, which is quite tasty. But I like gouda in general. The Dutch know what they're doing when it comes to cheese.

Applebee's, Chili's, Ruby Tuesday, TGIF's, Red Robin, Outback, etc I think are all on the same level of serving okay food. But if I want okay food it's because I'm hungry and just need something quick to fill me up. If that's the situation, it'd make a lot more sense to hit up McDonald's or Chipotle. If I want a sit down, avoiding the casual restaurant chains is the way to go as I'll likely find much better food elsewhere. Therefore, these places don't get much respect from me.

Oh well. I haven't been inside a single fast food restaurant for years. I must be out of touch with Death by Cholesterol foods!

I want some mozzarella sticks.

I actually know people who do just that. Though it is not some general cheese, but cheese with "character". Meaning it is gone bad and stinks - but in a good way (so they say).

At fancier restaurants a plate of various cheeses is a common appetizer but I don't think that's unique to the US. I had the same thing at a restaurant in Hampshire last summer.

Don't forget you guys invented the deep fried Mars Bar.

I wanted to report that I took advantage of this over the weekend. I had 3 plates of mozzarella sticks :vomit:.

You should be proud sir. You live in the land of the free

... Mozzarella sticks.
