TerraNES2: SilliNES Part 1: The Invisible Hand is In Your Pants

I had thought of baby farms where females and heterosexual males are confined to reproduce. :3

Anyway, I think I will start somewhere that needs civilisations and stuff.

I'll join as the Otterman Empire. Put me down in Persia.

Do theh even have otters in Persia? Now they do. Shut up.

I'd like a bit more specificity. Southern Vietnam is easy for me to use. Russia is not.

Of course, an actual map of preferred land is VERY helpful for me. And possibly, it will make me very helpful for you. Just saiyan.

Foster_Turley_1988.gif

Name: The Otterman Empire
Color: Neon pink neon green navy blue.
Location: Persia and Armenia
Government: Theocracy of the Outter Gods. The Priesthood of the Astral Otters support the Ottan, a king with both theocratic and secular powers. When the Ottan dies, a new Ottan is chosen from the king's extended family. This is a very delicate process. The High Priesthood must judge the strength, tenacity, humor, and handsomeness of each royal specimen. Those who have proven themselves unworthy of royalty are diced and then thrown into the peasantry. It is recommended at this point that only the Regent and the High Priesthood contact the royal family, as they may become contaminated by the hands of the unworthy otherwise.

Once the most promising candidate is found, he is sent into the coronation chamber to await his call. No unworthy hands must touch the Heir at this point. If any manservant is found attempting to do so, he is to be executed as part of the ceremony.

The ceremony shall begin by the release of ceremonial doves. Following this, all royal men of militia age must take their seats on the royal court floor. Men found outside of their assigned seats are subject to be publicly whipped, with the severity at the Regent's whim. The royal heir will be seated on a pedestal, by the Holy Throne.

Once this has been completed, the Regent shall be permitted to walk the steps to the throne. The royal band shall play the song of the state, and minor royals are permitted to toss ground cabbage as confetti as the Regent passes. Once the Regent has occupied the throne, the heir may be brought forth before him to await his gaze. Once the Regent has acknowledged the heir as Ottan, the ceremony is complete and the heir will be crowned Emperor of the Ottermans.

Army: Massive core of cavalry supported by barely trained melee infantry and very decent archers. Each noble within the Empire of the Ottermans controls a certain amount of territory and is required by the law to support the Empire's war efforts by providing soldiers, if they are so called. Otterman Empire also keeps a core of well-trained standing army composed entirely out of cavalry units, such as cataphracts and horse archers. They are used as rapid-response to any signs of rebellion.

Navy: As all good Ottermans believe that water is sacred, the Empire has many capable sailors living in the coasts. As a result, when time comes to war, the Ottan is capable of drafting many sailors and levying many ships. Small, but negligible amounts of standing navy do exist as part of the High Priesthood.

Most of these ships are typical galley-type ships that are common at this time.
Stability: Stable due to statist religion.

Name: Kingdom of Kussaund
Colour: As close to white as you'll let me get
Location: Cyrenaica if possible, otherwise Tripolitania

EDIT: Wait, no. Put me at Melbourne harbour. IN AUSTRALIA!!!

Yessssssssssss

Is Persia Close enough for us to count as a cradle?

I'll have to decide if this is a westward-facing Persia or an eastward facing Persia. Err, Ottermanic Empire. It's natural "area" is the Caspian Sea, Mesopotamia, and the Causcaus.

I will join...

Ny Moddey Dhoo Clien AKA the Black Dog Clan

Claims: the Isle of Man

Colour: Blackish or a Dark Grey

System: meritocratic warrior clan society that bases itself on hound packs.
Government: clan despotism

Religion: while the people in the Isle of Man tend to follow the Celtic pagan ways, especilly with emphasis on the sea god Manannán, the Black Dog Clan have taken to their own faith which is focus less on gods and more on phantom consideration. They are inspired by legend of “a ghost hound” whom they name themselves after. Overall though there is no official religious policy, save "do not harm any sacred sites or we will axe you" policy.

Folklore: plenty of ghost tales to scare people. There are also stories about fairies; lots of them.

Economy: bartering; although foreign coinage is accepted the Clan likes goods more than simple cash.

Clan Warlord: Onnor ny Niart

Army: tribal focused. The Clan itself requires all able members at the age of 16 to take part in ritualised training, a proto-national service so to speak in order to prepare as many Clan members as possible to have knowing have to fight for the Clan. Those who wish to serve further in the military are allowed additional training at 18, where are set forth to first as clan guard warriors, then if trained further hound warrior and then through value marauders. Those proved to be able to lead battles are dubbed battle lords, who also so happens serve as political leaders in the Black Dog Clan, with the warlord being a warrior who gained power through military leadership rather than political setting.

Navy: focused on costal galleys and longboats to navigate the Irish Sea. Focusing more on speed than battle the ships tend to culture the Clan into preferring raids to long drawn wars (ironically for a warrior society but that is living on a isle for you), although they will make a conquest if it is quick.

I forgot, today is tuesday, tomorrow is wednesday.

16 more hours for signups. 24 Hours until update.

Give me a nice, dark green in the coastal region around IRL Gdansk, Poland. I'll give the full signup when I'm not sleep-deprived due to being woken up early for a flight.

Announcement: Everybody is welcome to create additional NPC cultures/nations in an established cradles (North Sea, Mediterranean, Iranian Plateau, Australia). Keep in mind that another PC nation will take precedence and that their NPC status must be clearly marked. In addition, reserves are welcome as well, as I foresee many NESers unable to handle the commitment that is SilliNES. Afterall, if they can barely send orders after a two month wait for End of Empires, how can they handle 2 day turnover rates? ;)

NPC: Ngarrindjeri
Location: Mouth of the Murray River
Colour: Pink on the map, but its up to you Terrance
History: The Ngarrindjeri are one of the earlier cultures of the Ngurendi-Menindi Basin. Founded by villagers fleeing overpopulation in the cultures downriver, they assimilated into the local Ngarrindjeri peoples. There, they founded a small fishing village, which grew thanks to trade of ocean fish, pearls, and crabs. Ngarrindjeri prospered, becoming a local power in the early Antopodeian civilisations.

NPC: Karta
Location: Kangaroo Islands
Colour: Grey on the map, but its up to you Terrance
History: Karta Island was once inhabited, but was abandoned by the local population thousands of years before the rise of the Ngurendi-Menindi civilisations. However, overtime, the various inhabitants of the coastline became crowded and overpopulated. Settlers from Ngarrindjeri moved to the island, despite its foreboding name, and formed a thriving community of farmers and hunters of its large kangaroo population.

NPC: Wergaia Confederacy
Location: Western Victoria
Colour: Pinkish-Orange
History: The Wergaia Confederacy is the newest power in the Antipodeian Continent. Once a tribe of unsettled barbarians south of the Basin, they have since embraced settlement but not forgotten their once warlike, raiding ways. The Wergaia have formed a large confederacy in the southern regions between the Barkindji and the Maraca, bent of conquest of the entire region.
