Have we discussed this type of sandwich?

It is a sandwich, however we should keep in mind that the category of "sandwich" is not exclusive of the category "sin".

It's a sandwich, but a really stupid sandwich. Properly designed sandwiches are a delight to consume and don't require you to have a weird mutant face or take bites of bread and nothing but bread the first 10 bites

Now let me explain my vision... hold in on both ends like corn on the cob and chow down on the middle, making sure to apply pressure so it doesn't fall apart. It's not just a meal, it's a game/challenge.

You just add more meats or cheese or eggs or lettuce or whatever you want and repeat the process with the next contestant, obviously.

This is a sandwich:

The recipe is here: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/213754/saint-paddys-irish-sandwich/

It's a reasonable facsimile of the real thing. I have made them and they are quite delicious. Notice how the bread encompasses the sandwich fillings and stuff is kind of exposed. That, my dears, is a proper sandwich. :p
Correct. And I'm not even a big fan of reubens, but that sandwich cannot be denied... the shredded cabbage really brings the room together.

Had this last night. Menu said it's a sandwich.

Caramelized onions, bacon, peppered brandy sauce.

Called an Angus campfire sandwich.
The menu was correct.

There is nothing "iconic" about a "Pig Ear Sandwich". At best it's an obscure, local, fetish/niche food.

Half my family lives in the American south and they're black... I also lived in the south for years... and I've never even heard of such a thing.

I've never heard of the sandwich, but among my ex-homelanders in Lithuania, pig's ears are a main course.

Maybe the BBC writer needed a new silk purse? :cringe:

I think people are missing the reference to ‘making a pig's ear out of something’.

I don't think it would be possible tho, after a few bites you'd have catastrophic failure of the sandwich

Mozzarella sticks are just cheese sandwiches
