Are any of these sandwiches?

Isn't a burger patty on toasted bread most of the way to a Frisco melt?

Hehe, looked up the Steak n' Shake version. The sauce I would have the patience to make probably. Getting a T-bone ground up for the patty mix? Probably not.

It will be really funny if this thread reaches 50 pages and has to be serialized with this title.

Steak N Shake makes fantastic burgers. One just opened recently in the town next door but I haven't been because covid :(

how thin and how thick can the bread and filling be before it's no longer a sandwich?

Is meat/cheese and crackers a sandwich? I've been eating some of that recently.

Meat and cheese, either alone or together can certainly make a good sandwiching of protein by starch. But they might be sandwiching wrongness! :nono:

Good question. But shouldn't we include hardness? Hardtack biscuit is a kind of (potentially indestructible) bread.

That's just hors d'oeuvres stacked into a Jenga tower

I think so :ack:

So, how many meatloaf sandwiches remain?

0! I had three last week to finish it all off.

Today for lunch I had turkey, muenster, iceberg lettuce, sliced onion, mayo, black pepper and paprika between toasted bagel halves. Delicious.

You haven't had a turkey or ham sandwich until you've had one made of leftover meat from Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter.

Lemme stop you right there

Thanksgiving turkey is not a sandwich meat

Well naturally. Carved roasted turkey makes for an awesome sandwich. So does leftover beef roast like pot roast.

I've never had thanksgiving turkey that I thought would qualify to be fit for a sandwich. Usually too dry and/or too thick. It is perfect for soup though.

I will never understand the American obsession with dry poultry. Chicken breasts are the worst part of the chicken.. Ground turkey is just ugh. Thanksgiving roast.. Probably really nice when it's fresh out of the oven, but the day after? I'd rather eat a duck, or a goose or some animal actually worth slaughtering. Ducks have fat. They also have flavor.

talking about a dry peace of poultry on white bread sogged with gravy won't send me running to the kitchen, it'll send me to the toilet :D

Baked chicken breasts are terrible, but americans also have an obsession with bbq grills. If you brine chicken breasts and bbq at the right temp and don't overcook they are incredibly juicy and delicious. Although a little bland in flavor on their own, that's part of the appeal because they're versatile with almost any sauce or spices.

Ground turkey burgers can be dry, but that's what condiments are for! And the flavor is more than fine.

I do agree though that chicken legs and thighs are delicious and duck is fantastic, but very rare to get here. Not sure why.
