Obviously Trump has his fans and I'm not going to judge if someone likes Trump or supports him even if they dont in order to stick it to the Dems.

However he has delivered on virtually nothing he campaigned on. Tax cutscand judged are about it.

He has been a dead duck since the midterms he can't get anything done.

He is also underwater by a lot in various states.

The Democrats got a senator elected in Alabama of all

Texas was competitive as well.

So are you remotely concerned he is leading the party to a Wipeout in 2020? Supreme Court justices can be impeached and removed and Kavanagh like like a candidate their unlike the other judge he appointed.

You won't really be able to blame Obama or the Clintons this time around and you will probably lose the presidency in 2020 and maybe the Senate.

Due to pulling the nuclear option if the Dems get the same power the GoP set precedent. They can just increase the size of the supreme Court.

So by doubling down in the event of a Trump defeat this could also be one of those generational things where your party is locked out of power for two decades a'la GoP 30's to 50's or the Dems 68- 92 (for the most part. Yay Carter).

So if he crashes and burns hard and takes the GoP with it, is it worth it?

He has been a dead duck since the midterms he can't get anything done.

The executive trade war is quietly being waged
Immigration wall is being built with Army Corp of Engineer funding
Deregulation is again stripping away safe guards for Banking and Fiance
Obamacare having lost the mandate is now unraveling
Plus there is the Iran mess that Trump has escalated, Venezuela seems to be forgotten for the moment

I figure that Republicans have an even shot at re-electing Trump provided the economy dosnt implode.

Generational turnover during the coming decade will be the death of the GOP. Perhaps the party will survive in name. Not a chance in hell that I ever give my vote to someone who helped keep trump in office, and I think millennials on down are going to have similar attitudes.

Alabama had a pedophile running for office IIRC. Not exactly a hard candidate to beat. Trump has definitely “delivered on his campaign promises” to such an extent that he is absolutely making his voter base happy. Plus some of his “lack of keeping promises” is because of lack of cooperation from the judicial and legislative branch, not from a lack of effort from his administration. Incumbent presidents also get re-elected the vast majority of the time.

You’re living in a fantasy land if you think the entire Republican Party is going anywhere any time soon.

Nope but if he goes down in flames the few things he has done are easily reversible.

He might win you never known but I'm hypothetically saying if he crashes and burns and takes the Senate with it would it have been better off having a less incompetent leader?

Carter was the last one term president 40 odd years ago.

To be fair, Ross Perot ruined the election for Bush. There hasn’t been someone like Ross Perot before or since. Without him, Bush probably would have won.

That and after Bush compromised with the Democrats on the budget, congressional Republicans saw it as a betrayal of the party and did everything they could to sabotage his presidency and lower his approval ratings.

What's your point? Perot wouldn't have been on the scene if there hadn't been disaffection withing the GOP ranks. It is very easy to say "my guy would've won except that....[fill in the blank]."

Gore would've won if....
Hillary would've won if ....

Actually, Perot probably didn’t ruin the election for Bush. He stole about the same number of votes from Clinton as Bush and Clinton consistency polled ahead of Bush throughout the campaign, including when Perot dropped out for a few months (he later got back in). Here’s a 538 video about it.

Yeah Perot was a scapegoat. He took votes off Clinton as well.

I voted for Perot rather than Clinton.

I believe you. However, there were a whole lot of "I'm darn mad at Bush and if it weren't for Perot I'd even vote for Clinton" claimants among the Republicans who I absolutely don't believe. Republicans might talk a good game, but they would vote for Attila the Hun if he ran against Jesus so long as he had the magic RvD in his favor. So when the "second choice" polling came up 'Clinton' I think that was grossly inflated by people who could say Clinton was their second choice but would never really have voted for him.

Perot seemed smarter than the rest and after a decade of Republican rule, he seemed like a breath of fresh air.

Contrasted to the left, who often decide to just sit out an election to send a message to the DNC for nominating a candidate who only met 90 out of 100 of their personal metrics, thereby handing the race to the literal worst.

I was a hard core Republican and I voted for Clinton. In all fairness though, Clinton was really just a middle of the road republican dressed as a democrat.

This still describes a large portion of democrats.
