NOPE.

I originally had her receiving the yeti from VRWC. And then I was like, "that's an awful idea."

But she's the editor of a publication Yellowstone National Park puts out. She lives in cabin in Montana, about an hour north of the park. One night she was doing dishes and looked up and there was a cougar with two paws on the windowsill watching her.
I notice there aren't a lot of people clamoring for HER to take a picture of a cougar...

Are you crazy? She's someone's mother! :p

As a fellow cat servant, I will stick up for Valka's motherhood in that regard. I feel very much like my pets are my children and if that offends the sensibilities of those of you with non-furry two-legged children, well too bad.

Pets are nothing short of equals in any household arrangement. So as a kid the dog would essentially be a fellow brother and similarly mum was, well, the dog's mum.

As much as I am a pet owner, know that pets are great to have, but they don't share family status, they are just not on the same level as family.

You haven't met the humans I cohabited with.

But seriously, I moaned the deepest, guttural cries of my life when I held my shepherd as it was put down. I assure you I loved that dog nearly as much as I have any person.

Are you using explorer 8? That particular browser doesn't seem to like some of the code, but I'm not sure what exactly the problem is yet

Yes. You can not click on the names anymore and get the city/ town also

It is ok in Chrome and Firefox.
The Yeti is good sitting on London

I was certainly upset when we had to put our cat we had for over 15 years down when we found a lump on his head. He certainly was a great cat and when he was alive, whenever I got home from work he was waiting for me and when I managed to sit down he would straight away jump on my lap. I also remember when he was younger he ran away and I was quite upset about that, but thankfully he wasn't that far and we got him back. Mind you I was in my early teens when that happened. But cats come and go but family is forever.

I should clarify. When I say pets, I mean dogs.

Okay, this is getting derailed into another topic entirely. I will only say this: my cats considered me their mother long before I considered myself to be their mother. I came to the realization when my Gussy started trying to nurse on the neckline of the sweatshirt I was wearing while cuddling him one night (he was maybe 6 weeks old at the time, and I'd rescued him from a miserable existence in the back yard, freezing at night, always hungry)... he'd been abandoned, and I can't imagine whether his cat mother died or somebody just threw him out like garbage and he ended up in my yard.

Obviously, I meant no disrespect to Contre's mom, and certainly no harm.

Contre, how about making her an account here so we can all say hello to her, and thank her for helping out with these camera projects?

I find the thought of her reading my posts unsettling. When the camera makes it back to me, I'll link her the original thread and this one and invite her to sign up should she want to.

Are you sure she is not lurking.

I don't think anyone took offense. I certainly didn't. And any harm would be to the cougar. It'd get shot.

We owned 30 acres west of Anson and planned to build a house there. Wile accumulating building materials, we lived in a pretty run down cabin a few miles further west. In the end we decided that the winters were too long and life too difficult. We moved back to NC.

Anson/Madison is NW of Skowhegan; east of Industry.

My good friends lived in a cabin in Athens, about 20 miles N (NE?) of Skowhegan. I can certainly sympathize with you on the winter drearies. We spent a bit of time with them each winter, and watched them suffer more and more from clinical cabin fever. Eventually He got a job driving a truck route from Portland to Boston to Providence to NYC to Albany to Manchester to Portland... She went slowly crazy. They moved back to the inhabited world a couple of years ago for the sake of their daughter.

My father's family is from the Moosehead Lake area. Which is one county east of there. I still have an aunt and uncle there, and try to go up for a brief vacation every year. 70 years after dad left home, his home town is up to a population with a grand total of ~350.

Broaden your horizon. Pets come in many shapes and forms. i bet your dog has never slept on your lap. I bet you wouldn't want that to happen from your dog in any case. I wouldn't want that from my dog, either.

Are you for real? Every thunderstorm that big brave shepherd would be up on my bed, freaking out and panting.

Have you not heard the expression "two dog night" to describe a very cold evening? It comes from curling up with two dogs instead of one due to the extreme cold.
