Nice, it was small enough for that thing! Most of you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but either way I have the yeti, the notepad, and the third secret thing that came with the package.

I have made plans to take the photo, but it's a time sensitive operation. Yeti should be on its way to the next person in about 2 weeks time

That's fine, Warpus. Take as much time as you need, since my life is really disorganized right now. I don't even have a digital camera on hand yet, so this will give me time to find one. And Red Deer is in that ugly phase between winter and spring where there's a lot of piles of the last dregs of filthy snow lying around, there's a lot of mud, the sky is depressingly grey, none of the trees have leaves yet... and even the inside of my apartment is chaotic since they've been doing maintenance crap and I've been told it's pointless to even try to get organized until after April 13.

Or maybe I could try for an indoor shot at some building where it's kinda nifty... like a Doctor Who set from the Baker years.

It's kinda crappy here too, nothing has started blooming yet and it's kind of depressing. My main yeti photo place is about 2 hours driving time from here though. There's bound to be something cool somewhere near you.

Actually having the yeti in my hands is also motivating me to want to work on the site. I need to add a couple elements of functionality to it

Heh, if I had the transportation, Banff National Park is 3 hours away and utterly gorgeous at any time of year.

But I've got no way to get there. :(

Ride a cougar! :D

Just think of it as a big, fluffy LOLcat

Updated the site a bit

Mr. Yeti is now on the map and the map centres on wherever he happens to be. The places it has visited will also now turn green.

Making the path turn green is next, but it basically means turning the 1 path I have into 2 separate paths, so that will have to wait until later.

Great update to the map!!

Awesome! :D

Contre, since your mum is participating, you should post her picture, perhaps tell us a bit about her.

I cannot see the route on the map anymore

Yeah looks like it would cost you about $200

Plus that seems like a large investment of time and energy as well
Not to mention park entrance fees, accommodation, transportation to the area where I went before... and there's the added problem of finding a sitter for the cats, since the only local cat boarders are located out of town. Still, it's something to keep in mind if I ever decide to take a holiday there.

BTW, it's snowing here right now. The Weather Network says 2-4 cm expected tonight, with flurries tomorrow.

NOPE.

I originally had her receiving the yeti from VRWC. And then I was like, "that's an awful idea."

But she's the editor of a publication Yellowstone National Park puts out. She lives in cabin in Montana, about an hour north of the park. One night she was doing dishes and looked up and there was a cougar with two paws on the windowsill watching her.

Many years ago we were living in the north woods of Maine and I was woken up in the middle of the night by a noise in the kitchen of our three room cabin. I looked everywhere in the kitchen with a flashlight, but couldn't find the source of the noise, a scratching sound. I shined the light out one of the windows to see if it was coming from outside and couldn't see anything at all except black. I had expected to see the woods that came up to the house on that side. The noise was certainly coming from the window, so I looked higher and discovered that the entire window was covered by the belly of a bear that was trying to get in. I looked up and he looked down and I fell on my ass as I tried to back up and away. He did not get in.

Where in Maine did you live?
We owned 30 acres west of Anson and planned to build a house there. Wile accumulating building materials, we lived in a pretty run down cabin a few miles further west. In the end we decided that the winters were too long and life too difficult. We moved back to NC.

Anson/Madison is NW of Skowhegan; east of Industry.
